While the creative lay out all of their influences in the forward, and in many ways I think this surpasses much of Alan Moore's and Brain Michael Bendis' work. They created their own characters and an an interesting story. They built a world where super heroes are forming unions, corruption is everywhere (government, union, cops, corporations) and a hero can be put on trial for suspected murder. Well done, well crafted, and while they don't intend a sequel there is enough world building for them to return to this world.
