[Menage Erotic Sci-Fi Menage a Trois Romance, BDSM, M/M/F, M/M]
Being orphaned twice, tragedy defined starship captain Aine Lorcan's early life. As a result, she buried herself in her work and earned her "Ice Queen" nickname. When she crash lands after a raider attack, it's hunky Act'huran Commander Sammuel Jorvis who rescues her.
Sammuel and Ker have searched to find the perfect third to complete their triad. Aine first tries to fight the attraction she feels for Sammuel before giving in to his sinfully hot brand of persuasion. Meeting Ker only cements the love she has for the men and her feeling of belonging.
When duty calls and the Confederation wants her back, she wages a war of conscience. Stay with her men, or fulfill the legacy her two fathers died to help her achieve? Now with one of her men in danger, will Aine's love burn out, or will she live up to her reputation of Fierce Radiance?

This book was ... different. It hooked me from the beginning. The characters were intriguing and loveable. I was absolutely enthralled until about 23%. Then it got ... weird ... and a bit ridiculous. The sex aspects of the storyline (read: ) made for more than one WTF moment!?!
If you can roll with it, however, the story is fairly engaging. Granted, Aine was a selfish bitch. (And, testament to why I am such an avid m/m romance fan.) I loathe self-pitying characters who have a singular perspective of seeing things vis-a-vis THEIR INDIVIDUAL gains and losses. What about "her men?" Why did they not factor into her decision-making and, more importantly, the repercussions of her decisions? Instead, Aine consistently saw herself as the "victim." Was that heroic? Absolutely not. It was sad because I really liked Aine at the beginning. By 75% of the way through the book, I. Couldn't. Stand. Her.
Bottom-line: despite its flaws (i.e., Aine sucked and the constant sex), as a whole, the book was entertaining. I enjoyed Ker and Sammuel but Aine didn't deserve them.
I loved this book! Ms. Dalton just does it for me. This more sci-fi book blew me away. Aine is pretty amazing. She's tough and takes no prisoners. I really admire her. The lost she's experienced is pretty bad and has damaged her just a bit. Sammuel and Ker are HOT. Let me repeat, H.A.W.T. Ker is one sexy and intimidating alien. Just thinking about him and what he has Sammuel and Aine do makes me hot. I loved the sex scenes. I enjoyed the scene where Sammuel was in a council session. That blew my mind. The one thing I didn't like so much was the reason for the separation. It was a needed situation but seemed so foolish. I guess in the heat of the moment, people do, say and hear the dumbest things.
I do like science fiction. I watch several different shows, but I am picky. I was worried I was not going to like this book. It was a pleasant surprised. I do not know what I expected when I started reading this book, but what I got was not it. This is not true for all, but most erotica tends to take place anywhere from a couple days to a couple months. This book spans years. It was really easy to connect with the characters because of that.
She built GREAT characters for this book. Erotica is not all about the sex. Granted, by definition there will be graphic scenes in it, but I like a story as well. I want to know why the heroine is getting her brains fucked out.
Ker and Sammuel were hot. Dalton is one of the queens of menage, IMO. The addictive blow-jobs were great and was something that I did not see coming. If you want a hot but very unique menage to read this is your book. This book delivered a hot and steamy story, that even made me tear up once or twice. This will end up being a re-read for me.
TD does it again with a fantastically enjoyable and emotional story. It was deep and sexy and romantic and suspenseful and heart wrenching all at the same time! I love how the author gets you invested in each and every character in the story. These men fell for Aine hard and claimed her for their own. I liked her fierce loyalty and strength to her fathers. However, that tended to stand in her way of total and complete loyalty to her men. That was a profound lesson she had to learn before the end. A painful lesson for all three. But it was absolutely beautiful how they went down this road together and learned how to trust each other again. They were simply not whole when they weren't together. I love that. I could go on and on. Great attention to detail, sexy love scenes, heart warming storyline.... loved it!!! Don't miss it!!
I loved the first part of this book. It had real depth. And then it got weird. Not just weird but gross weird. One of our two heroes runs around with a military uniform that has his ass hanging out because "master" wants him always accessible. Ewwww. I'm not a big fan of BDSM or M/M but I will tolerate a bit for a good story. The story lost all credibility for me then and I stopped reading it. A MILITARY uniform with easy anal access just does not ring true, no matter how much she tries to make it so.
Tymber is very uneven like that. She creates great characters and then runs them through the BDSM sewer. My first read of hers was "Love at First Bight" which is very clever but not representative of the rest of her work. This is not an author for me.
I really enjoyed this Tymber Dalton Sci-fi MMF book.
The beginning was so sad and quite hard to read, as we go through Aine's (pronounced Anya) childhood. She losses lots of loved ones and always fears being left alone. She throws herself into her career and excels as the "ice queen captain".
When she gets rescued by Sammuel, she can't understand the immediate and desperate connection they share. This intensifies when Ker arrives and their triad becomes complete.
Very original although the sex could have been a bit steamier. I prefer quality not just 10 orgasms in a row...maybe I'm just jealous!!!
Could have been good, but the attraction was based on being addicted to " bodily fluids", spending the night with your male partners anatomy in your mouth like a pacifier so that you have comfort of said fluids, not sexy to me.
There was a good book in here somewhere, but the the authorthrows in a Big Misunderstanding over a small thing, combined with the sexual addiction did not appeal to me.
This book was a cross of the Dark Elves and Interstellar Service and Discipline series. Normally if I read a book and it totally reminds me of another book it kind of turns me off but Tymber Dalton just writes a good damn book.
Fierce Radiance is book 1 in the Space Confederation series by Tymber Dalton. It's truly a remarkable book. I originally read this book over a year ago. This is the third time I've read it. Each time, I've found something new to make me love it even more.
Aine is a very young girl, nearly four-years-old, when the story starts. She lives on a planet far out in the reaches of space, far away from the protection of the Confederation. When the raiders attack the mining colony on the planet on which Aine and her family live and work, she loses everything but the barest of memories of her short life. It's only by sheer chance that she survives at all. But what comes next?
Edmund Lorcan and Malvous Dentry are a captain and his yeoman with a long history of service in the Confederation Merchant Freighter Corps. Their ship, the Bagtopy Yau, happens to be on the mining colony when the raiders strike. Since their cargo's loaded, they're only a merchant vessel, and they can't stop the raiders, they have to take off as quickly as possible. There's just one problem, an unexpected extra passenger, one they've no idea what to do with. How are they going to handle a four-year-old girl, the only female on the ship? She has no family. Turning her over to the authorities is out of the question. But their lives are with each other, and they've full-time careers. What options do they have other than turning her over to the Confederation, even if it's the last thing they want to do?
Years pass. Aine is brilliant beyond all expectations. She lives up to her name, which means "radiance." She's not just well-educated. She has the ability to inspire, the authority of a captain, the brilliant mechanical ability of a top engineer and inventor, and is awe-inspiring in her physical beauty. As she becomes a member of the military and rises through the ranks, she gains a reputation as the Ice Queen. She's lost everything and everyone who ever mattered to her. She'll never let anyone in again. Why would she allow anyone or anything get close enough to her to give them the power to bring her any kind of pain ever again?
While on a mission against the raiders, Aine makes a bold, but questionable, command decision. As it turns out, she's the one who suffers from that decision when she ends up stranded on a planet, in raider territory, badly injured, and alone. Or so she thinks! Her rescue comes at the hands of someone who simultaneously shocks, terrifies, and attracts her. And she actually knows who he is. But it can't be him? It's not possible. As her rescuer has to physically restrain and perform field surgery on her, she has so many questions. Is this really who she thinks it is? How can it be? How did he come to be in the exact spot where she needed someone to save her? And what of the stories he's told her about his identity and history? They're the stuff of legend. None of this can be real, can it? There's so much more to this story, but Aine has to recover if she's to find any of the answers she needs.
This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and both gay and ménage sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won't enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. USE THESE RESOURCES. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! She works extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
In Fierce Radiance, Tymber Dalton takes the reader on a journey of epic proportions. There's so much to this story. From the deep tragedy at the beginning of Aine's life through her formative years, her years as a Confederation officer, and beyond, it's truly an sci-fi/thriller/romance novel deserving of great praise. I was just as affected by the beauty, pathos, and deep emotions of the story on my third reading as I was the first time I read it. I don't have adequate words to describe just how truly wonderful this story is. I've always known Ms. Dalton is an phenomenal author but this is one of her best books. Each time I've read it, I've gotten something new from the story. It's a true masterpiece. I give Fierce Radiance my highest recommendation, and offer Ms. Dalton my congratulations on a truly fantastic novel. Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
DNF (Did Not Finish) - Where was the chemistry in this menage?
I usually enjoy unique names, provided I can figure out how to pronounce them, so having the heroine's name clarified in the first paragraph (Aine is pronounced Anya) definitely started things off right.
The start of the story is a quick recount of pivotal moments in Aines' life, and is emotionally a bit of a rough ride, but necessary to understand her personality and abilities. After that is a little segment that is pure sci-fi, with space battles and military protocols and such.
After the trio got together, I expected sparks, chemistry, a struggle to belong or work out the menage dynamics... something. Instead, they all blissfully accept one another and hop into bed. I like menage, don't get me wrong, but it needs to have substance and heart. This one did not, initially anyway. I didn't want to continue reading because it just wasn't compelling. I did not finish this book.
I'm usually a huge fan of Tymber Dalton, and go in binge reads of her bdsm and menage books. For the most part, I adore her writing and just about anything by her is a safe bet. I've noticed though, there are a subset that consistently do not appeal to me. Generally, if it has aliens who aren't typical human size and form, its not for me. In Acquainted With the Night, humans are kept as pets and used as egg incubators. Sure they're happy, but the idea of taking a giant member up the rear to deposit an egg that you must then "carry" and deliver after 2 months... not appealing. Also, backdoor sex with something that size, unless you are WELL prepared and practiced is going to hurt like a mother, not to mention cause damage. In Fierce Radiance, the alien's semen that you spent all night sucking up like a pacifier has magical properties that make it okay? Ugh, no. I just can't identify. =( Sorry, Ms. Dalton. I really wanted to like this one!
Science Fiction is great! You can do anything you want in Science Fiction and it works. You just have to make it believable to the audience.
In Fierce Radiance, Tymber Dalton creates a world where people love who they love. Gender and species doesn’t matter. It’s all about who you love.
Samuel and Ker are looking for their third. They find it in Aine. Once they have her, they seduce her into loving them. And love her they do. They would do anything for her. Of course Aine has her own baggage that she has to deal with. Ker and Samuel do their best to help her heal, but it’s not always enough.
I will admit, I had a hard time at the beginning with the changes that happened with Aine once she mated with Samuel. However, once I let go and jumped in, the story was wonderful. Sometimes you have to let go! Remember, anything is possible.
Once I sunk my teeth into the story and accepted the world Tymber had created, I found myself feeling every emotion her character felt. I was weeping along with them as well as celebrating their triumphs. I could not put the story down.
Aine has had such a hard life. Her upbringing was very unconventional and left her with a few issues to work through. Samuel and Ker have been a couple for so long. They grew together and once they found Aine, they were complete. Their love knew no boundaries.
Ker’s species are an interesting lot. They have some very unique qualities and boggle the mind the at times. Their culture and customs are definitely eye-opening.
I love the world that’s been created. This is the first in the series and I’m anticipating another. I would love get more of this wonderful world that Tymber Dalton has created!
My second time reading it after 4 years. Yes, my feelings about the book changed. From 4 to 2 stars.
The beginning was really cool, emotional, different and had so much potential. I loved the Heroine until she lost herself in her first mate (one of the Heroes). I know it should be sexy and everything they're doing is the mating instinct and everything is as it should be. That's all dandy but it doesn't make me happy.
I didn't feel their love or their connection. It's as if the Heroine took one deep breath, breathing in her mates scent and then BOOM. She was lost. In them and her urges. Her body wanted them so much and any resistance was futile. They fell in love so fast. There wasn't much romance in this book. It went from 1 to 100. The sex scenes were all the same to me. So not sexy. As if it was a task, to make the urges go away. And always forcing her to "come now", this got very old.
A compelling love story set way in the future but embracing all the aspects of human relationship that cause us to rejoice as well as to mourn. The heroine has suffered repeated loss and as a result has seen her goals and her hopes and dreams shattered time and again. Now she is caught in a dilemma: she loves her partners and has given them her bond. Yet she also wants to fulfill her adoptive father's hopes for her, dreams he had which he will never see. Lots of love here mixed with lots of disappointment and pain. In other words, the stuff of which life is made. As always, Tymber Dalton writes with clarity and sensitivity and brings her characters to life consistently. Lots of good stuff in this novel.
Tymber Dalton is the queen of the ménage. She knows how to make it a true triad where someone isn't left out and feeling like the third wheel.
I didn't care for the incident that took Aine one away from her men - sure her adopted fathers wanted her to be a captain, but based upon their characters they would have told her to follow her love first. That's just my opinion. But maybe, it was fate.
I really loved the beginning of this book and then got a little annoyed with the stubborn Aine but eventually she came to her senses and everything ended the way it should! It was a quick romp through but complete enough to answer all the questions that came up only wish there was more loved there world!!
This is a really enjoyable book. I like the long life theme and mates. This book is set in future. There a lot of background story before u get to Aine meeting her mate but that develops the story so well. Really like the HEA. Only issue I have is the orgasm on demand and how many. After about 5th 6th one it get a bit silly. Otherwise great story.
I loved this book! The emotional upheavals in the story gutted me and I had to put it down a couple of times to regroup but it was absolutely worth it! It seems that even when we are technologically advanced, the misunderstandings between men and women continue to plague us!
This is the most amazing book and one of my all time favorites!! Loved it and want more. Tymber is wonderfully talented and has a vivid imagination. I would love to be a tarn or twen!!!
This was end of the world heartbreak at the soul level. I should’ve guessed, should’ve known: forewarned, at any rate, since I read her The Reluctant Dom - and cried through it - at least twice. So I *know* what she’s capable of. But I also read the Bight series which is her other quite lovely sci-fi - and the drama in those books is always fleeting. Plus the beginning of Fierce Radiance actually seemed like maybe it wouldn’t even be a very good book: the writing was a bit bland, the characters kinda flat... And based on the description of Fierce Radiance, who could have foreseen what was to come? But around the midpoint, the emotional apocalypse begins - and then it’s heart-shredding, soul-immiserating, utter desolation descending on poor readers of this tear-drenching book. And it just goes on and on and on. Relentless. Right around the 61% mark I almost set it aside. Then a bunch of used Kleenex later and I’m thinking it’s got to get to a HEA soon just wait. But no: Relentless. So then at 72% sobbing badly I got firmer with myself and I really was going to set it aside - a whole additional 25% of the book left, I thought, and I could see nothing but bone-cold suffering for most of that upcoming quarter of a book read? Who needs that in their life? I told myself, go reread some Ice Planet Barbarians instead. Blue bodied aliens with spurs, yum. Much better. Hate her. Never reading Tymber Dalton again.

This pandemic has let me tackle my huge TBR Library. OMG why didn't I read this book sooner? I can tell you why, I hated the cover. But I loved the story. It was amazing. It had me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I was afraid that my hubby would catch me crying. It's sci-fi with aliens and one badass girl/woman, spacebattles, bad guys, and an HEA. It's kinky with MMF, MM and MF, and some M/s dynamic elements. Lots of really HAWT scenes. For some the "smutty sex fest" is too much. In Fierce Radiance Tymber Dalton creates a world where people love who they love. Gender and species do not matter. When it comes to sex with the aliens you do need to put logic on the back burner and just let the story flow. If you love Auryn Hadley's Rise of the Iliri series I'm sure that you will love Fierce Radiance. It's also a decent length at 324 pages.
This was a new genre for me to read of Tymbers stories. I am very glad I gave it a chance. As we have come to expect from Tymber, it is bit of a bumpy roller coaster ride, before finding happiness which can last more than the usual twists and turns Tymber like to throw at her characters. But in the end there IS happiness with a few surprises thrown in, to keep us from becoming complacent.
My heart just broke for Aine as she lost so much in her life. Watching her lose everyone important in her young life and then finally finding her soul mates in Sammuel and Ker was heart wrenching. This book by Tymber Dalton is a lot different than her Suncoast Society series but still very, very good. If you are into Sci-fi, get this book and settle in for an afternoon or evening of reading!!
The first book in a new space series by Tymber Dalton.
There is a lot going on in this book, there is a lot of action, space fights and some very steamy scenes. This book made me sad, frustrated, left me all hot and bothered, it had me cheer and I really wanted to slap Aine multiple times. She was quite annoying at times. Loved Sammuel and Ker.
This is a great sci fi book with a great female lead. Aine was adopted and raised in space. She rose through the ranks and captains her own ship. She meets Sammuel and Ker are they the men for her. Another emotional book by Tymber Dalton. I very much recommend reading this one.
This is the fifth Tymber Dalton I have read and first review I have written for one of her books. I'm not going into a synopsis since the description is pretty clear cut.
**Spoilers**
The first portion of the book is probably the best writing I have read so far from this author. You go on such an emotional journey with the main character as you witness her grow into 'The Ice Queen' persona she acquires just to survive the scarring trauma of losing not one but two families. But what I really loved is that the main character wasn't simpering or crying her way through life moaning woe is me. She was a strong and intelligent woman, a character I liked and respected having triumphed over the tragedy and made something of herself. Granted the fashion in which she did it made her emotionally constipated and antisocial.
Then comes the introduction of the first love and the weird stuff. Now there is a lot of scifi-ey terminology that I won't go into but just think Man A mate with Man B and Man B recognizes mate in Man/Woman C (could be either).
Once she met Man B, she COULD NOT STOP SUCKING HIS DICK. But it wasn't even sucking, she would lay in his lap for hours just holding his cock in her mouth. It was really strange and I almost terminated this book and put it on my DNF shelf. But I pushed through. I enjoyed the beginning so much and I hadn't even met Man A.
I'm honestly glad I continued. You learn to accept the weirdness because it is such a frequent thing you just get used to it. The Romance factor isn't quite up to TD;s standard but it was sweet. There is a harsh separation towards the end of the book that you should gird your loins for, its tad heart wrenching. But fear not because of course there is an HEA.
In the end I decided I enjoyed reading this book and would even read the sequel if there will ever be one. The one piece of advice I will give a potential reader is this: SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF.
The book started out well. I really liked this part (taken from the blurb):
"Being orphaned twice, tragedy defined starship captain Aine Lorcan’s early life. As a result, she buried herself in her work and earned her “Ice Queen” nickname. When she crash lands after a raider attack, it’s hunky Act’huran Commander Sammuel Jorvis who rescues her."
The beginning tells the story of Aine, how while growing up she suffered the loss of her two dads. It was heartbreaking.
It was when Kerr (the dominant in the poly relationship) came on the scene, that the story took a very strange turn. The sex was too bizarre for my tastes. Like the male sub having an opening in his uniform, to allow easy access for the dom to have anal sex with him. Or using a penis as a pacifier to suck on all night long, due to needing the pre-cum.
Then the ending made me really dislike Aine, for what she put the three of them through. Their separation was too angsty and not enjoyable to read.
Most of T.D.'s books are not for me. I've tried a few, but only liked one (which I probably couldn't reread). No more, I'm done.
Surprisingly well written for a M/M and M/M/F genre story. A real plot, not just a way to get to hot scenes, I found myself caring about the characters. Science fiction. I will try Dalton again.
Aine is orphaned in a raid on the planet where her parent's work in the mines. She escapes because her brother sacrifices himself, getting her onto a fleeing freighter. She is taken under the wing of the ship's captain and eventually becomes a ship commander herself. This is when she finds herself injured, after escaping from her damaged ship, on an unoccupied planet. Rescued by another Commander, she meets her future and finds out she isn't as immune to love as she believes.
