Talk about misspent youth. What did I do during those lazy summer days of childhood when I could’ve been honing my writing skills? Nothing. Okay, so I spent a lot of time dreaming I was a cowgirl with a trusty black stallion. Oh, and I read every Walter Farley horse novel. I was an only child so I relied on my imagination to supply the excitement in my life.

By high school, I’d decided to trade in my lariat for a trench coat. I was into dark and dangerous. As an intrepid foreign correspondent, I’d stalk the mean streets of the world. Did I actually write anything? No, but I did read all of Agatha Christie’s mysteries.

I worked at a department store during college. My short stint in the accounting department taught me a lot about math. Three hundred-dollar shortages plus hysterical tears equaled instant move to gift-wrap. A career in math was not in my future. I didn’t care because I’d discovered “real” literature. I plowed through James Joyce’s Ulysses and Tolstoy’s War and Peace. If it didn’t make my eyes cross then it wasn’t worth reading. Yes, I admit it, I was a literary snob.

Nina and best buddy, Barbara Joyce.
Folk singers extraordinaire.

But there’s just so much “real” literature one person can take. I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English Literature and a determination to avoid books that induced eye crossing or had tragic endings. The only things I managed to write during those years were research papers.

I taught second grade for several years then spent two years in Dublin, Ireland. A friend and I supported ourselves by singing folk songs in Irish pubs. We weren’t great, but we were young, enthusiastic, and wore short skirts. It was obviously my destiny to be the next Judy Collins. I spent a lot of time poring through music books.

Returning to New Jersey and reality, I taught elementary school until I grew restless again. My cross-country odyssey included stays in Arizona, California, and Texas. Along the way, I indulged my love of horses. No black stallions, but I did have several beautiful Arabian mares. I read tons of books on breeding and showing.

Somewhere between California and Texas I grew addicted to romance novels and cats. The cat’s independent attitude was exactly the quality I admired in my romance heroes. And once I decided to try writing my own romances, I made sure a cat crept into each story.

Texas is my permanent home. I’ve come full circle. Born in San Antonio, I spent most of my life in New Jersey. Maybe the Texas in my blood accounts for my attachment to strong men, fast horses, and wide-open spaces. My love of cats? Haven’t a clue.

Danger has never been so sexy, come and read a twist in the shape-shifting world and meet some hot dinosaurs. I felt this book was way better than the first two. Nina Bangs creativity for the end of this world Mayan prophecy is just outstanding on how she brings everything together, I just can’t wait for the big finish. I found this one to be an emotional ride with all emotions present. You meet a few new characters the most important is Kione he is a prince of the faes.

This book was so emotional. I will have to warn anyone who is not tolerate of the mentioning of m/m rape, but if you can please try. I found myself crying at a few points and let me tell you that’s hard to do I’m not a normal crier period. Anyway there is two scenes in here that I just lost it. One is when Fin is taking in Kione’s pain and Utah and Lia steps in to help. The other is when Kione is sharing his past, it was just horrible. Its always nice to read when others step in to help no matter what happens.

Lia and her mother was in the second book. As you know Lia is a human at least for now and she is set out to take down Utah for killing so many vampires. She became his driver. The first thing she told Utah was to “pull over, you prehistoric jerk.” Lia was fun to read. I found her strong or soft when needed. She sure was witty and full of sarcasm when needed.

Utah is a Utahraptor. As you read in book two he lost his brother and these type raptors run in a pack, so he is now on a killing spree and wants nothing more than kill all vampires. Will he kill the one woman that is destined to be a vampire? It’s a sexy ride to find out.

For those of you who that loves this series I’m not going to add spoilers, but I will say This book takes you more in-depth about the eleven’s story. One being Seven. Seven is not who you may think he is. It blew my mind when I found out. Then at the end just blew me a way again. You’ll never guess who is back. Excellent ending!! This book is awesome and not to be missed for you regular raptor readers.

I am still shocked by this series, but I have to admit the dino-shifter and Mayan prophecy makes for an awesome book. If you like sexy shifters and the wolves are starting to bore you, read the Gods of the Night series. This series gets better and better with each one. My only complaint is that the author is not getting the next in the series on the shelf quick enough. As far as I’m concerned this quote from the book is reason enough to run out, buy the book and read it. “Utah was hot nights, tangled sheets, and screaming orgasms.”
Readers were introduced to Lia in the previous book as an evil vampire leader’s human daughter. Lia made it clear to everyone from the moment she was introduced as a character that she wanted to become vampire, as soon as possible preferably. Utah lost one of his brothers to a vampire attack. Utahraptors are pack dinosaurs. He is emotionally destroyed by this loss. What better way to try to heal that wound than go kill all vampires you can get to. I thought this would lead to one of those I hate you but I’m going to have sex with you anyways and hate myself for it courtships, not the case. Utah and Lia have numerous hurdles to overcome to be together. The characters attraction to one another is obvious. Their pursuit of each other is hot. Lia and Utah’s banter is great. They are teamed up as partners. She is his human that will keep him from being detected by the big bad evil. He needs her and she needs to kill him on account of his attempting to slaughter every vampire in existence. All these conflicts make for one incredible book. Oh, and they get the best wedding gift ever!
The cast of characters in this series is insane. The secondary characters get larger and more intriguing with each book. Kione has a large role in this book. We learn an enormous amount of information about his past. His past is HORRIFIC, and a tear jerker. Seir is still cryptic. He truly leads you to believe that he is playing both ends against each other, but then he helps the Eleven in a way that just seems to counteract everything else he did. Seir is a very interesting character that I want to know more about. Zero gets more proactive with his destroy mankind meddling and also with the obstacles he will throw into the Elevens lives. Seven is….. Wow, the surprises with Seven. Seven is different. I think anything I reveal about Seven will be a spoiler. There is a history with Seven (and another character specifically) that was not present with Nine and Eight. It leads me to believe that Seven may have played for the good team in a previous time cycle. (I’m done; I can say no more about Seven. Oh but the things I want to say about Seven!)

Eternal Prey by Nina Bangs was astounding. I have personally enjoyed all three books in the Gods of the Night series, and honestly, book 2 (Eternal Craving) was my absolute favorite, but none of them even come close to the depth in which she dives in Eternal Prey. This book explores life, love and death on completely different and deeper levels. In Eternal Prey we follow the paths of Utah and Lia, two very different predators, as they find themselves, so they can find each other. By the end I had laughed and cried more than I had in a very long time while reading.
Nina Bangs, as I’ve said before, is absolutely unique and wondrous with her writing abilities. On a more personal note, she is the reason I decided to try my hand at reviewing. I emailed her one time, several years ago, just to tell her how much I enjoyed her stories, and I was so pleasantly surprised that she responded. It took a few years of course for me to decide that I should try this, but I am so happy I did.
I can’t think of a better way to say thank you than to try to spread the word of such creative writings.

Captivating! Exciting! & HOT!

“Hot nights, tangled sheets, and screaming orgasms” is how you can describe these sexy dinosaur beasts. This third book in the series is totally awesome. Utah and Lia are perfectly matched as their inner beast becomes uncontrollable with blood lust as their predators seek out their prey in the hunt for Seven. This action pack story keeps you glued to the book with a fantastic HEA ending.

The romance erotica between Utah and Lia was perfect and was glad Nina took time to slow down and add some foreplay in the mix of making love. I loved the fact that the other paranormal characters from the previous books were involved in the hunt for Seven and her minions.

The insight to the other characters fascinated me and now I am hooked on this series and want to know more about them. Jude the Vampire and Kione the Fairy Prince have intrigued me and my heart went out to them because of their tragic pasts.

However, what really intrigues me is Fin. Will we ever know what he truly is? In each book we have learned little bits of the dinosaurs past as their mates take parts of their souls and I look forward to reading more books in this series to find out about their past lives. There are so many questions unanswered regarding Fin, Zero, and Seir. We know that Seir is Fin’s brother but what relationship is Zero to them? Will Dec 21, 2012 really be the end of humanity or will the Eleven defeat and save us from destruction? The plot just thickens and my inquiring mind wants to know.

I don't know what to say that I haven't said already in my previous reviews on this series. Only, it's somehow managing to get even better. More characters are developed, particularly the dark fey prince (who is... mouth watering) and Fin and his brother. More about the plot (which I love most of all) is revealed, and the questions seemed to have slowed down. Now is all about waiting for the truth to slowly come out in installments, and it was excellent, because in this book we learn MUCH more than we have in previous books. I love this so much, I can barely contain it. So long have I gone without a series that has left me hungering like this.

I NEED the next one. Or I at least need to know what's its called, and who its main couple will be! I NEED IT!

*Sigh* I hate that let down after you finish reading a book and are all hyped and have nothing to do but sit around obsessing. Oh well.

Oh! One thing that did bug me. Maybe because I read the books in such quick succession, but it started to irk me how EVERYONE kept calling Fin a cold bastard. Like, literally, every other page was someone either thinking and saying it.

I can't think of anything more to say. It is literally too awesome for words; people just need to read these damn books, so we can form a huge fan base and hopefully encourage Nina Bangs to give us moooooore.

A big step up from the first two. The characters are more fleshed out and many of the more shadowy characters reveal actually interesting back story. Eternal Prey feels like more thought was put into the story telling than in its predecessors, which is a definite plus. Nina Bangs seems to be slowly moving away from the silliness that marked the first book in this series and is beginning to give the reader more to digest with far less laughable dialogue and ridiculous character traits. While I loved the silliness of the first book, I find that I definitely prefer the more dense world-building and character development in Eternal Prey. The silliness is still there to some degree but the books are reading less comic and more fantasy. I'm definitely looking forward tho the rest of the series.

I never thought there would come a day that I would think of dinosaurs as sexy. Well, I was wrong. The God of the Night series, written by Nina Bangs, sure changed my mind!

This unique combination of men who become fierce, extremely large, and dangerous predators tempered with a human soul and their courageous female heroines who stand beside them in battle will take you on an intense journey of heartache, triumph, and love.

The third book in this series, Eternal Prey, was as fabulously passionate, steamy, and intriguing as the two prior books. I am anxiously awaiting the continuation of this series. The premises of these characters are exceptional Ms. Bangs!

It's been a long time since I've read the previous two books in this series, but as soon as I picked up the book I began to remember all the details. This was another action packed book which kept me in suspense and also had me questioning the mystery behind the eleven. What exactly are they and where did they really come from. I have my suspicions but I would love to know the answers!!

I looked on Bangs website but there are no details to whether this series is going to be added to. I hope it is because otherwise I'll have a lot of unanswered questions. Which doesn't make me happy. Please keep writing!!

Hero hates vampires, cause they killed his brother--and pack-mate. (Yes, he is a shapeshifter, no, he's not a werewolf.) He's throwing a fit, because he has to partner up with the still-human daughter of a dead vampire queen. There are bad guys around, trying to destroy the world, and he's supposed to help stop them, but he's upset about his brother. This is a fast-paced, non-stop action, sexy read about totally awesome shapeshifters trying to stop the end of the world. I really enjoyed it. Best Shapeshifters EVAH!

I really enjoyed it--the first half was a bit hard for me to get through--it seemed like the author was getting a bit tired at this point in the series (mixed up character names and descriptions twice, Chapter 9, page 193: "He [Jude] didn't get a chance to ask anything, because suddenly Seir moved. One second, he was by the door, and in the next instant, he stood between Utah and Seir" and Chapter 10, page 198: "Al's wife wasn't speaking for the rest of them...'Shush, Jenna.' Kelly stabbed her sister in the side with her elbow. 'We all want to hear.' Ty's wife still had her tabloid reporter instincts."...Except Jenna, Al's wife, is the tabloid reporter according to Nina Bangs' entire second book, and Kelly is a vet student, according to the first book? Each of these characters also makes a cameo in each others' books, so it seems a little lazy on the author's part to mix up her own characters that she's dedicated 300+ page novels to?)
But after the middle half, the book picked up. I really liked the details into Fin's life, and I really wish that Nina Bangs would have shed more light on the mystery behind Fin and who everyone was before the series takes place. I'm not sure if she's planning on making more books in the series, but if she isn't, then I would've liked a bit more closure to the plot!

I will admit at first glance I didn't think I'd be into this book. Something about raptors and vampires just seemed nuts. I was in the hospital with few options for reading material, so I reluctantly dove in. Around the third chapter I couldn't put it down. There a couple steamy scenes. A few scenes that will have you fussing and wanting to assist in the fight. I'm adding Nina Bang to my list of authors I like.

Nina Bangs does it again!

So. Good.
Utah was my favorite since book one. And Lia is just badass. And the ending? Swoon.
And I’m not just talking about the HEA. There’s a glorious surprise readers will love. ❤️

Favorite Lines: “He grabbed her arm and pulled her close even as she used the hand that wasn’t fumbling for her sword to try to push him away. So close that she was pressed against his chest and stomach. Heat spread from every contact point. She was surprised steam didn’t start rising from their damp clothes.” (p. 17)

Renegade vampires are indiscriminately killing humans and it is up to Utah and Lia to stop them. But behind the renegades loom the diabolical team of immortals determined to kill the “dominate species” on Earth. Lia and Utah are not working together by choice though. Both have been commanded to work together by their leaders. The two have the assistance of the unseelie fae prince, Kione.

Eternal Prey is book three in Nina Bangs’ Gods of the Night series. I did not read the first two books and at times found myself struggling to keep up in a world I didn’t recognize.

The first chapter jumps right into action. There is no slow lull as you figure out what is going on. Bangs lets you know about the immortals and the shifters immediately. Which is a giant plus in my mind. Readers like me who are just being introduced to Bangs paranormal world need the quicky intro.

There are battles, but the major emotional conflict is between the hero and heroine. Utah cannot accept the fact that Lia is a human who wants to be a vampire. Utah hates vampires because one killed his brother and the idea of his mate becoming a vampire is abhorrent to him. However, the two are only part of a larger story which pits a pack of shapeshifters known as the Eleven against the Ten who are out to kill humanity. In this book, they are facing the villain known as Seven.

This is definitely a romance novel, so don’t believe the book reviewers who are calling it urban fantasy. There is a happily ever after for the seemingly star-crossed lovers. As the story unfolds, we learn about the origins of the Eleven, their leader and their past. We also learn about Kione, a character which was introduced in one or both of the other books. His story made me want to cry. I would love to read about him finding a happy ending.

I enjoyed reading Eternal Prey, but I wish I had read the previous books to avoid confusion. While I liked the characters, I was drawn to Kione and the small bits that surrounded him. I would read the book again just to get a better understanding of Kione.

I mentioned in my review of Eternal Craving that I thought the cover didn't capture the vibe of the story. Well, they got it right this time. In fact, I think I kinda love this cover. It feels a lot edgier and more primal, which is definitely what I imagine when I think of dinosaur shifters. The blurring along the edges brings to mind someone who's so intent upon someone or something that everything else falls away. Like I said, this one captures the feel of the book far better than the first two covers did. Which is a good thing. The only thing I'm wondering is why Utah and Lia are being attacked by another dino. I don't remember that happening. I mean, they were attacked by plenty of other things but I don't recall one of the Eleven turning on them at any point. Hmm. I'll chalk it up to a wealth of enthusiasm by the cover artist to get some sort of dinosaur element in there while still conveying the fact that the Eleven are human. Ish. Human-ish. You know, being shapeshifters and all.

Heck, I'm tryign to say that I like the cover. It's pretty and it tickles my fancy.

And the story? We get more answers about what the Eleven were before they were dinosaurs. We get to take a peek into the sticky world of vampire politics. Fin is still a raging mystery, although he's starting to show pieces of himself. The Eleven are drawing other powerful beings into their orbit, like Seir, Kione and Jude. Will all those guys play a part in the coming battles? I don't know. But they're here now and they're helping Fin. I'll admit that some of their help is grudgingly given, but it is given.

Utah's grief after losing Rap in book 2 to the rogue vamps has to work itself out and Lia's insistence that she's going to become a vampire in the near future makes for some interesting interactions between the two. When they finally do toss aside their reservations and make sweet, sweet love it's just as hot as I thought it would be.

All in all, this is a great addition to the series. It gives a few answers while laying out the groundwork for the next book. Although it's probable that you could jump into this series with this book, I would highly recommend reading the first two in the series just so you can see the journey of the Eleven unfold a piece at a time and get all the backstory. It just makes everything so much sweeter that way.

My thoughts:

I love the premise of this series based on the Mayan end of world myth. On December 21, 2012 at the Winter Solstice human life on earth will end unless the Gods of the Night (aka the Eleven) can stop Zero and group of nine immortal bad guys. Zero et al. were responsible for the extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs. Now the Eleven and Fin (their leader) will try to save the day and Earth's humans. The Eleven are now men. They have souls of the dinosaurs that they were at the last extinction event. Their leader Fin is not like them. In addition to humans, the earth is inhabited by vampires, werewolves, and other non-humans. Zero and the Immortals recruit non-humans to help further their destructive plans.

Each book in the series focuses on a different member of the Eleven as they face off against one of the Immortals. The first book, Eternal Pleasure, is centered on Ty and is set in Houston, Texas where the Eleven face off against Nine. The second book, Eternal Craving, is set in Philadelpha, Pennsylvania and focuses on Al as they go after Eight. The third book, Eternal Prey, is set in Portland, Oregon as the Eleven hunt for Seven. Each book is also a romance. Eternal Prey is the story of Utah and Lia.

Utah is a Utah Raptor who is engaging in a vendetta against vampires. He hates them. Vampires killed his brother Rap. Lia is the human daughter of a vampire and regional leader of the Northeast vampires. More about that can be read in Eternal Craving (book 2). She may have to kill Utah. So our love interests have some deep issues to resolve. Utah is a take no prisoners guy. Lia is smart, sarcastic, and tough. She's integral to the story line and not just the love interest.

I really enjoyed this book, It is well written, action packed, moves the overall story along, and gives us interesting characters, both primary and secondary. I am rooting for the Eleven. I'm looking forward to reading more of their stories and finding out more about the mysterious Fin. I feel that Eternal Prey is the best written of the series so far. This is a series I believe should be read in order.

I give Eternal Prey 4 1/2 Qwills.

I really like Nina Bangs' take on the 2012 Myan Calendar end-of-times.

Warning: Plot spoilers ahead!

There are 2 Cosmic forces here at war here. The whole dinosaur extinction being caused by a meteor? Decided by "Zero" that it was time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. So now "Zero" thinks to do the same to humanity in 2012 and have the supernatural creatures take over. He's got 9 powerful beings working with him, and their job is to raise a supernatural army to help bring about the end of humanity.

Enter our eleven "Gods of Night", raised by Zero's opponent "Fin". Fin has saved the souls of 11 predators from our prehistoric past to help fight Zero and his minions. Dinosaur souls have been placed in human bodies, but they can take thier original dinosaur shape when their are fighting. The first 2 books 'Eternal Pleasure' and 'Eternal Craving' had the Eleven go after the first 2 minions "Nine" and "Eight" as fin has named them.

Now, in 'Eternal Prey', Utah is paired with the human Lia, who is also a leader of a Vampire Tribe, and has plans to become a vampire sometime in the future. Humans help keep "Zero" from reading the eleven's thoughts. Thrown in with them is the Unseelie Prince who brings out uncontrollable lust in those around them, but Lia and Utah have a job to do and have to fight the attraction they feel for each other. Fin had seen Lia in a vision sending "Seven" back to the cosmos, but not what she needed to do just that.

This is an action packed series with the fate of human kind in the balance. Great characters, and I love how the eleven are learning to cope with human emotions and developing thoughts beyond eat-hunt-kill. Fin's brother Seir is an enigmatic character who's playing both sides of the equation with his own agenda. Some political machinations with vampires make things interesting, and Lia's smarts help balance her relationship with Utah - and he grows to respect and care for her as a person. Lia also sees things in Utah that aren't always black and white, either. Great addition to an interesting series in the paranormal field!

Utah, a creature of the night, is determined to have vengence for his brother, and refuses to let it go until every vampire is gone from the world. Utah is part of the Eleven, and the only ones that stand a chance at saving the world from the evil that surrounds them. Then Utah has to start working with a leader of the vampires...a enticing and beautiful and very mortal woman, Lia. Lia, has never felt love or acceptance from her mother who was a leader of her clan of vampires...but now she is dead and Lia knows that she is next in line and that she will become a vampire, even though her father is against it, she knows its something she has been preparing herself for all of her life. Then she has to start working with Utah, who is dangerous and literally a beast lives inside of him, yet there are stirrings of desire for him, and as they work together to bring down one of the immortals and save their lives, a powerful love forms between the two, they will fight to keep each other...
This is the first that I have read from this author, I had heard good things about this series, and I just love the cover and the blurb really intrigued me when I saw it at the shelf at the library, so I decided to try it out. I definitely have no regrets, it was a enticing read... Eternal Prey is the third installment in the Gods Of The Night series, and I even though there were a couple parts I was a little confused at first, I was able to catch up fast, (although I definitely feel a powerful need to read the previous two books), from the first chapter I was captivated, especially by these specially woven characters, that stole their way into my heart. I just loved all of the Eleven, and what a special bond they all have with each other. I love the intrigue and danger that surrounded the plot, and most especially the powerful passion between Utah and Lia, that will just draw you in, Nina Bangs with take you on a thrilling ride of adventure, danger, passion, and intrigue. A POWERFUL READ!!!

This is the third book in the Gods of the Night series where a group of eleven men with the souls and shifting abilities of predator dinosaurs are led by Fin, an immortal with god-like abilities. Their goal is to prevent the destruction of humanity at the end of a cycle on December 21, 2012. His counterpart, tagged with the name Zero, believes it's time to shake things up by wiping out humans and letting the supernaturals take over. To that end, Zero has his own group of immortals recruiting supernaturals and causing chaos in major cities.

Utah has the soul of an utahraptor and is paired up with Lia, a human in charge of a band of vampires after fighting for the position in the prior book. The daughter of vampires, she plans on becoming one, much to Utah's chagrin as he'd prefer to kill all of them. But Fin had seen millennia ago that Lia was needed to send one of Zero's minions back to the cosmos.

The ultimate predator--can you possibly pick a more dangerous bad boy? The sexual tension is fantastic, and while you know the outcome will be good--it is a romance after all--elements of how they work out their issues and stop their target isn't obvious and makes a good story.

This book was a little difficult at the beginning as it's been over a year and a half since that last book came out and there were people and events that I only vaguely recalled. But that soon didn't matter as I got caught up in the story.

Read as an ARC through Net Galley.

Forget vampires, werewolves, and demons. The Gods of the Night, nicknamed the Eleven are not your ordinary paranormal creatures. They are otherkin; souls of ancient dinosaurs placed in the bodies of humans to help save mankind.

But Utah, one of the Gods of the Night felt trapped. He no longer cared for his mission as one of the Eleven. His energy, his rage is directed to one species…vampires. Determined to avenge his brother’s death, Utah releases his beast, bent on destroying every vampire he crossed.

“Pull over, you prehistoric jerk.” Were the first words uttered by Lia, the new leader of the Northeast vampires. Beautiful and mortal Lia is charged with finding the leader of rogue vampires that are killing humans and other immortals throughout Portland, Oregon.

Forced to work together, they searched for the leader of these rogue vampires and discover a strong attraction to each other threaten by his hatred of vampires and her fear of his beast.

In the third book of the Gods of the Night series, Eternal Prey is the best book yet! Twists and unexpected turns keep you glued to the pages flipping each to find out what comes next. Nina Bangs created characters you quickly fall in love with and a novel filled with emotional drama, steamy love scenes, and continuing action.

When the renegade vampires killed his brother Rap, Utah goes on the warpath destroying vampires left and right until he encounters Lia, a human leader of the vampires. He's instantly smitten but...she wants to be a vampire. YUK!

A story based on the Mayan calendar which states the world will end on December 21, 2012. Therefore ten immortal vampires were allowed entry into our realm to destroy the dominant species, in this case, humans! This is the third in the series so Nine and Eight have already been defeated and now Utah and Lia must join forces to fight Seven. Utah and his 10 "brothers" are dinosaur shifters. Utah is a raptor and kicks serious ass. He goes undercover with the vampires (yeah go figure) to find the rogue vampire who is stealing vampires from the vampire leader Adam. It's a story in a story which all connects in the end. Utah and Lia are the main characters but everyone is included in the story: Fin (Eleven leader), Kione (Fairy Prince), Jude (vampire leader of Texas) and even Sier (Fin's estranged brother) and of course Zero (leader of the 10 immortal vampires).

Eternal Prey is the third book in the “Gods of the Night” series and with it we continue the countdown to the year 12-21-12 where a Mayan prediction calls for the end of the world as we know it. These eleven men with the souls of dinosaurs have been called to being by Fin who is possibly a God, to battle evil and save the world. The only things more deadly than they, are the creatures they are destined to destroy. While this book can be read on its own, I really do suggest that you read the first two books in this series so you can better understand what is going on. In this book, we meet Utah, who has the soul and anger issues of a Utahraptor (a dinosaur) and Lia, a human who is the daughter of Vampires. Lia is intent on destroying renegade vampires and has neither the time nor inclination to fall in love with this uber bad boy…but fall they do.

While I found the story to be somewhat confusing and at times even a bit boring and predictable, it is a fairly easy story to follow and the heat level between Lia and Utah is…well, hot!. The secondary stories were a bit more interesting to me and I look forward to reading more of the books in this series.

Wow, what a let down... not so much the book itself, but when looking at the book list it showed only three in the Gods of the Night series, so I thought, maybe it'll all be wrapped up in this book, as we are way past 21-12-12... of course it being fantasy it wouldn't matter too much, but then again, to catch up with eight or nine books to couple up the remaining GONs after the actual fact and tell us how this series ends... too bad, because this series started with a great idea, an interesting concept and was written by a capable author.
But hey, if you are for open endings and you just wanna fill in the same ending for the next eight books according to how the first three went and in a byline explain what Fin -the GON leader- really is yourself, then this is for you! Might as well invent your own series and write it, and if you finish it, I might read it too.
How about a shout out to all fans of this series to finish this series for Miss Bangs with some great fan fiction (those are being picked up by the publishers left, right and center -as apparently the author herself couldn't sell the remainder of the series)? Go!!!

Great read - third book in the THE GODS OF THE NIGHT series.

This one literally starts up where book 2 left us... the action has moved to Portland OR, but Utah is still efficiently thinning the vampire population to avenge is brother's death, and the Eleven are still looking to eliminate the latest entry [Seven] in the doomsday countdown.

Fin assigns Lia [from the previous book, she's the currently-human-but-soon-to-become-vampire leader of the Northeast Vampires] as Utah's partner. She thinks he's a prehistoric jerk, he thinks anyone who likes vampires needs their head examined-or removed. Just to make matters MORE difficult, Kione the dark fae prince with the sexual compulsion vibes [from the last book also] is added to their partnership. Of course, that DOES give our hero someone to blame all the lustful thoughts he's having about Lia on.

Adventures, many characters from the previous books, and some peeks into Fin's past and his motivations. Who could ask for more?

Utah was still grieving the loss of his brother, Rap. He had another brother named Tor and they three had always hunted as a pack. Back about 100 million years ago when their kind ruled the earth. It didn't help that he had killed many vampires in retribution. He wanted more!

And that is just what he got in the form of his new driver. Daughter of one of the most powerful vamps of all time, Lia is human. She will be turned someday but not now. She is there to help Utah and the current vampire issues in Portland where the Gods have traveled to encounter and decimate Seven. One of the Immortals set to destroy humanity.

Lia is as interested in Utah the man as she is in his beast. Will her interest turn to love and have the power to walk through his past to become his mate for life? Hang on! It's a pretty bumpy ride!

If you've never read the "Gods of the Night" tales you might start with book one and go forawrd. They make a bit more sense when read in order

Eternal Prey (Gods of the Night, #3) by Nina Bangs The dino-shifter and Mayan prophecy combo makes for an interesting series. If you’re into sexy shifters who are truly larger than life, read the Gods of the Night series.

While the other books in the series rated from me 4 or 5 stars, this one just missed. When the characters get a little too whiney or a little too caught up in their angst, I get bored. Yes, I get that Utah has a personal vendetta against vampires. Of course Lia is going to become a vampire – it’s her destiny. Of course they are conflicted because neither can guess if Utah will still lust for Lia once she changes.

I must say, I do kinda like Kione. He's a saving grace in the over-all experience.

Kione has got one helluva story and he deserves one helluva recompense. Oh, Nina . . ? Please, oh please, put Kione on your next-to-write list.

I really liked this book the best so far in the series. There was more depth behind Utah angry persona after his brother's death in the previous book. So while he still had his own animalistic behavior to contend with, you add on to that the emotional upheaval of losing a brother and it is a recipe for disaster. Then comes a vampire who not only attracts you but in turn repulses you for the pain her kind caused him. Utah demonstrated the emotions of a human trapped in the body of a human with the past of a predator. He wasn't fully capable of understanding his emotions because they were programmed into him, not something he was born to. I really liked Lia as well because she had serious baggage to deal with because of her mother, whom she lost as well. She was struggling with trying to please her and knowing that because of her death she would never be able to do so. Can't wait for the next one.

Great book

As I read more books, I find myself fussy about which books actually deserve higher ratings. A book needs to contain something that makes it so unique it becomes unforgettable. The characters in a high rated book make a person love, hate, or leaves the reader so conflicted they scream at the Kindle, book, or other device for mercy. The characters also spark empathy inside readers or the story becomes an empty shell. This story includes all of the above and more. I loved these stories so much that I spent years trying to remember the author's name or title just to read them again. The series was just as good as I remembered. Only major (and I mean MAJOR) disappointment is that the author hasn't finished the series after all these years! Ms. Bangs, please put me out of my misery...
Pick up this series, even if you need to buy a used copy of the first book to start it. You won't be disappointed.
Happy reading my fellow bookworms!

This was another great story from Nina Bangs, which would've gotten at least 4 stars if the head-hopping wasn't so darn bad. I had to go back quite a few times to figure out which character was talking/thinking what. It bothered me a lot, which also bothered me because I LOVE Nina Bangs. I honestly don't remember this being a problem in her other books, but hopefully it's not a sign of things to come for the rest of the Gods of the Night series. In this book, Utah and Lia learn to tolerate each other. I really liked that they didn't fall madly in love within the first couple of chapters. These are two very different characters with very good reasons not to like each other. I also REALLY liked Kione. His history is completely heartbreaking and I hope Nina realizes giving us a glimpse means we're going to want the whole story now.

Eternal Prey (Gods of the Night #3)
By Nina Bangs

After Raps death Utah can't stand vampires, he is not expecting to have Lia as his designated driver. Lia is a human that is leader of the Philly vampires, she is determined to become one of them. But things get way out of hand when Utah and Lia start loving each other.

I liked this book, Nina brings so many secrets in each of the books that you just can't wait to find out what really is going on with the Gods of the Night specially Fin. I hope I'm able to read the rest of the series, we still have at least five more books to really find out what Fin is hiding. Eternal Pleasure is till my favorite.
Overall 4 stars.
