This story was my favorite in first grade. It was in our reading book and I made my mom buy the reading book from the school. My kids loved it too, so glad my mom bought that book.
It was my fault for picking a book I hadn't read before, but this book just didn't go over very well with my first graders. I had a hard time picking up the rhythm of the story, and they didn't really get the funniness of the book (monsters and people have an agreement—monsters don't scare people and people don't scare monsters). It was fine, it just isn't a book I would pick for story time for 30 first graders.
