Lives of the Master: The Rest of the Jesus Story

Rate this book
According to Edgar Cayce, Jesus was a culminating life, expressing Christ Consciousness, after many incarnations here on earth, including Adam, the first man as depicted in the Garden of Eden. In all, the readings reveal 33 lives of the master. Sanderfur reveals the pattern through highlights from some of the most memorable of these lives, revealing the soul growth and process of Jesus the Christ s purpose here on earth. A fascinating and intriguing look at how reincarnation works and the pattern we all would do well to follow.

Edgar Cayce book club read for November.
The content is fascinating, but it's a dry dense read. It reads like a research paper, so it took me a lot of motivation to get through it.

My highlights:

p 27 - Cayce said that the term "resurrection" actually meant to people at that time incarnating - rising or resurrecting - into life again. It was the term for the concept involved in the discussions between Jesus and his disciples about souls rising from the grave and taking on new life. Today we call it reincarnation.

p 66 - Was Jesus always a part of the Godhead or was Jesus just a man who became God? Cayce says Jesus re-gained Godhead. The early church, however, relegated that idea to heresey.

p 82 - Reincarnation was dropped as a shortcut (not an ideal shortcut), for simplicity and mass acceptability

p 90 - Even Jesus lived multiple lives in order to learn from his karma. Hebrews 5:8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered

p 124 Jesus answered them, "It is not written in your law, "I said, you are gods?" - Asaph said this, who was also Jesus

p 140 Zoroastrianism - I had never heard of this religion and it was cool to read more about it.

p 103 Apparitions above the church in the 1960s and 1970s "Our Lady of Zeitoun"

p 175 Merry - even in the hour of trial. Joking - even in the moment of betrayal.

p 179 For know - only in those that God hath favored is there the ability to laugh, even when clouds of doubt arise, or when every form of disturbance arises. For, remember, the Master smiled - and laughed, oft - even on the way to Gethsemane.
