In Geneva Holliday’s latest novel of lust and revenge, Seduction works both ways.Mildred Johnson is the last woman on earth that gorgeous Tony Landry would dare to be seen with. That is, until Tony wants to pull a scam on the company where she works. In order to keep Mildred signing phony documents, Tony gives Mildred a taste of romance and keeps raising the stakes until he’s eventually forced to propose. But when the big day arrives he skips town with the money he’s stolen.Heartbroken, Mildred takes a trip to Barbados where her “vacation” turns out to be a boot-camp style weight loss clinic! Soon she discovers a goddess that had been hiding beneath her homely exterior. And when she runs into Tony on the island, he doesn’t even recognize the sexy fox standing before him. Little does he know that this fox has a plan for revenge that will leave him whimpering with his tail between his legs for a good, long time.
If I could only say one word about this book, that word would be "sexy". I don't usually read this sort of novel, but I won it in a contest and when it came in the mail, I was in the mood for something different. The book started off steamy (very steamy) and kept on going right through to the end. Surprisingly, the plot was really good too. The two main characters were well developed (the side characters - Geneva, Noah and Chevy - I thought weren't developed at all, but then I figured out that this was the 4th book in a series so they would likely have been developed in earlier books).
The book was broken up into parts, and there was a lot in the beginning as we got to know Tony and Mildred, then it made a large jump forward, and another later on. I guess it worked for the story (or it would have been FOREVER long) but I would have liked a little bit more in those time periods.
Some parts were a little unrealistic as well, but generally the book was a sexy read, and it was a quick read too (I read it in just a few hours).
Omg Tony definitely got what coming to him. Mildred aka Karma taught his ass a very valuable lesson. I was so glad that she didn't fall into his trap again, Chevy was a god send to Mildred and truly bought out the diva. In life people always go for what's pretty and skinny, Mildred represented so many big women in real life. Just because you're not a size 5 doesn't mean you have to settle for anything less then you deserve. Women know your worth, this is a must read standalone novel.....
An easy read that will keep your attention. Always describing Mildred as ugly hurt my feelings at one point I said she can't look that bad. Be careful how you treat people karma can come back quicker than you think and when it happens to you you won't find it funny. Recommended for days when you just want to take it easy.
I got a copy of this book, and my daughter read it first, but I had to read it for myself, and I felt for Mildred. I would have been a bit skeptical when a man who didn't give me the time of day all of a sudden decides to. I would have definitely questioned his motives big time. Call me petty, funky, but that's me and you have to guard your heart like the Bible says. If something don't smell right, check out the business. Anyway, you have this sister, Mildred. She isn't the best looking sister on the block, but she has heart and a lotta love to give. Enter Tony Landry, the new boy on the block at the investment firm that Mildred works for, who is fine, but goes through women like a good old glass of water. When he learns of a scheme to take money from some inactive accounts he was working with and needs Mildred to get him there, he seduces her for that end, and dumps her on the supposed day they are to marry. Heartbroken and left at the altar, she goes on a vacation to Barbados, where she loses weight, and meets up again with Tony, who doesn't recognizes her, and falls head over heels in love with her. She on the other hand, doesn't forget what he did, and the game goes in motion for payback. I had no love, no sympathy, no nothing for Tony. I have nothing against getting yours, but not at the expense of using folks and playing on ones emotions. The world is hard enough as is then you gotta add injury to insult and hurt someone too? uhh uhh, not my cup of tea.
Okay, (i feel) this was not the best of Geneva Holliday. When I started the book I felt like 'this is just another sexy/drama filled novel.' As it progressed it got better...but not much.
It has your typical raunchy sex scenes and conniving storyline but it lacked substance. I felt like it could have had more twists and turns that weren't so predictable.
So a quick list of likes and dislikes...
Likes:
~Development of the main character (Mildred) ~The BASIC plot of 'what goes around comes around' ~Implementing characters from previous books ~Inserts of little life quotes =] ~I was not bored while reading this but I was definitely over some parts
Dislikes:
~How the story ended (It was just 'blah' to me. I would have liked to read a more in depth reaction from Tony at the end) ~Not very descriptive ~It was almost 'too fictional' for me ~The story did not measure up to any of the other books written by the author
Overall it was an okay read. I guess I wasn't really in the mood for it. But I will say that the description of how pathetically easy Mildred fell for Tony's scheme was well written. Right down to the frumpy wedding dress. It made me pity the character so much that I started not to like her for her utter stupidity! lol! Hope you liked it better than I did =]
Don't let the cover fool you. "Seduction" is the story about an unattractive, over-weight woman named Mildred who is duped by Tony, a tall, sexy man who has no problem drawing in the women. Tony seduces Mildred and lures her into a lucrative scheme. He then leaves her at the altar and flees the country. Months later, Mildred lands on the same island as Tony. After a huge transformation, she has the opportunity to flip the script.
There were some parts of the story that were rushed leaving the reader feeling as though this could never happen. But all-in-all, "Seduction" was a very good read.

Seduction published in 2008 Part IV: My synopsis Mildred is a newcomer to the storyline. This book focuses on her story, her challenges and assumed love interest. Mildred has a very low self esteem, a couple of friends. She has a really good job but lacks in other areas. She falls for Tony. Tony is caniving, manipulative and a womanizer. He leads Mildred on even to the alter until that day comes and a flood of tears come down. Geneva makes an appearance as the friend to Mildred. A nice break up to the other stories.
OK I read it and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was actually nice to read about Chevy and Geneva without the drama. I liked Mildred alot, but I really felt it needed a more final ending... like a beat down or face slapping scene:D!!
