It was such a cute book! I bought the book about 2 years ago and finally got to read it! I decided to read it around Valentines Day because it felt appropriate lol. The title definetly caught my attention even though I LOVE Valentines Day lol. The book was great- it was written differently since an Australian woman wrote it. I had to get used to her way of writing...some words were spelled differently. But it was a cute book and the ghosts of Valentines day past, present, and yet-to-come was a great idea!
This is a cute though formulaic story of a girl with a rough Valentine's Day history. The parallels to Dicken's A Christomas Story are sometimes overly sappy, but overall are an acceptable way to advance the predictable plot. The last 30 pages or so really picked up and I blasted through those in a few minutes, leaving me with an overiding positive feeling toward the book. Bottom line, this is middle of the road chick lit - cute enough to give a read, but standard enough to not give a second thought about once the book is finished.
So funny. This is dickens a Christmas story, but it takes place on valentines day. Liv is a wedding photographer who has had some bad relationships and now hates valentines day because of it. So Cupid comes and shows her past, present, and future and shows her that if she keeps shoving everyone out of her life she is going to end up old and alone. I really enjoyed it.
A Valentine's Day version of the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. The heroine is a 'Scrooge' about Valentine's Day and must deal with her fears before she ends up alone forever. A bit predictable, but a good read overall.
Okay this author writes from an Australian point of view. It sometimes is hard to understand what she is writing about because of some of the terminology. Also this book starts out very slow and drawn out. The story finally does get interesting and finishes up quite nicely.
Just finished reading this and it was so good! It was one of those books that I just couldn't put down. That's great because I haven't been able to do that in so long! And I already had two requests for it. I highly recommend this book and know that whoever else reads it will love it!
As the top wedding photographer in town, perpetually single Liv Hetherington has decided relationships are not for her. But Cupid has had enough of Liv's single antics and sends the ghosts of Valentine's Day Past, Present, and Future to teach her a thing or two. Original.
I would give it 2 1/2 stars. I started liking the book halfway into it. I really liked Drew and wish that he and Liv had a bit more interaction together but overall I'm glad I picked this book up to read.
to be fair, I only got 27.3% into this book before I stopped reading it, so it may have picked up. but it was slow to start and I didn't feel like sticking with it. I really enjoyed the other book I read of hers (it's not you, it's me) but this was a flop.
Ghosts of Valentines Day Past, Present, and Future? Really? The story would have been better without them. If you can overlook that part, the rest was enjoyable.
After 102 pages, the story failed to hold my interest and unfortunately went off on a Scrooge-esque detour that spoiled any chance or hope I was holding that the story would begin to come together.
Funny, silly, and a predicitble ending. I like the play off of Dickens, and the characters were fun. Definitely worth a read if you have ever been anti-cupid.
