The Day We Met You is a beautiful depiction of parenthood's beginnings.
Phoebe Koehler's The Day We Met is a warm, joyful narrative follows two parents as they prepare bottles, formula, diapers, clothing, and a cradle in anticipation of the arrival of their adopted child.
the story is telling us how these parents are excited to adopt this baby. Explaining to us what they bought for the baby and how the will take care of the baby. When they got there and first laid their eyes on the baby , they knew the fell in love with this wonderful gift they have now. i like this story, for it to be a childrens book it tells alot about parents that like to adopt that aren't able to have kids, that is perfectly normal.
This is a sweet, heartwarming book about adoption. The book takes readers on the journey of the adoptive parents getting ready to go pick up their child. The book talks about how the parents prepare by getting a car seat, bottles, formula, clothes, etc. to be ready for their new baby. I really like this book because it shows what a blessing the child is to the family. I love how the author says the child is the sun shining inside the parents. I think this shows how the child is a new light and hope in the parents’ lives. I think this is a great book about adoption, and I think it’s a great book to read to adopted children.
Overall I think this book is sweet and adorable. It shows also the responsibilities needed to be able to take care of another child, especially since its a baby. You have to make sure you have clothes for the baby, make sure you have a comfortable surrounding for him/her, make sure the formula is the right one that the baby will drink, and most of all, make sure that the baby is loved and taken care of with patience and love.
"The sun shone bright the day we met you. They had called to say we would be your parents. How we hurried to get things ready!"
This book, through its simple illustrations and short texts is able to get straight to the point. The texts tell a story of how excited the adoptive parents are when they first meet their child. The simple drawing are able to show the coziness of their love and affection for their new baby and it is very comforting to read, for both parents and child.
This book has nice simple big text and pictures. Very cute and probably one of the best books to be the first book introducing adoption to very young children... I think it would make a great board book. Focuses on the preparation the adoptive parents took before their baby was placed with them. It is similar to "Over the Moon" which, in general, I liked a little better than this one.
A simple way to introduce a young child (under 6) to the idea of adaption and share with them the excitement felt by their adoptive parents as they await the arrival of their precious child. Even the youngest child can feel and appreciate the preparations made by their beloved parents to welcome this special arrival into their lives.
what I actually thought of this book was it was very easy to read the book was a happy book because it was about a baby and how the parent gave he or she everything he or she needed as an baby. This book showed me you have to take responsibility as a parent and love your child and how caring and loving parents are.
Great book has probably helped a lot of families. Its nice, light, and heartwarming. Not only this but it's a great book to read to your child. It will help them understand and feel comfortable with the fact that they're adopted. Not only does this book benefit the kids but also parents who have questions about how to approach the topic.
This book was written in 1st person point of view and they are talking about all the wonderful gifts they have received and prepared for this baby they are soon going to pick up.it also shows the supplies needed to take care of a baby.
i am now almost 16 years old and i still read this book. i absolutely love this book. i remember reading it as a little little girl with my mom and dad. thank you for writing this fantastic book(:
the author has told a simple can easily personalized as they read it out loud ... details to the story can be added as the childs ability to understand adoption grows.
This book was okay. I didn't really like it. The book was to short, I think it need more words. The characters are alright, I like that it talks about adopting a baby.
