Don't judge a book by it's cover. I thought this was about wild flowers.
A poor country girl marries a lawyer who eventually becomes the President of the United States.
At one point Anne carefully dips her crepe de chine dress in gasoline and then hangs it on the clothesline. I had to google that one. Apparently it was old fashioned dry cleaning.

This was very enjoyable reading. Like Lady Blanche Farm, I'd probably recommend it for women. Delightful and charming.

A loved book because I read it in my youth. I don't know if I would like it reading it for the first time as an adult. Happily, I'll never know
