Confirmed bachelor Pierce Turner, aka Utah, left active duty when politics cost his Marine Force Recon friend his life. An only child, Pierce didn’t have much of a childhood. He was an adult as soon as he learned to talk. Not a fan of kids, he thinks they’re messy, cry a lot and are extremely annoying. Tired of fighting and killing, all he wants is to work his construction day-job. When he’s off, he intends to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Montana Crazy Mountains and have a beer or two whenever the mood takes him.
Forced to train as an assassin, Liza lives in constant fear for her daughter’s life. Her handler promises he’ll hurt her daughter if Liza doesn't do what she’s told to do. Given her first killing assignment, Liza balks. When she can’t bring herself to make the kill, she takes her girl and makes her escape only to run out of gas on a deserted road in the Crazy Mountains.
When he stops to help a stranded woman and her little girl, Utah isn’t sure what he signed up for. Certainly not having to keep them safe indefinitely. And in his own home. Funny how a man who dislikes children is quickly wrapped around a little girl’s finger and how her mother finds her way into his stone-cold heart. He’ll do anything to keep them safe, even kill.

Utah by Elle James Iron Horse Legacy #9. Brotherhood Protectors spin off. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone. Liza and her daughter Tayla, were kidnapped off a remote Montana road and locked into a combat encampment. The soldiers are training Liza to be an assassin by threatening her daughter. After a daring escape, Utah, aka Pierce Turner, finds the mother and daughter stranded on a mountain road and he immediately becomes the hero and protector. Getting additional support from the Brotherhood Protectors, the group tries to shut the camps down.
Fast moving and action packed, this romantic suspense is gripping and steamy as the couple falls in love while the adorable toddler steals the attention in the scenes she’s in.
Liza and Tayla escape from The Camp only to have their truck run out of gas. As Utah is driving back from a bachelor party, he comes across them. Wanting to help them he has to convince Liza he is one of the good guys. Will they be able to find The Camp, save the other captives, and put an end to the terrorists? Will Liza and Tayla ever be safe and have a happy ever after? An action packed story from beginning to end with strong characters. Once you start reading it you can’t stop. A great addition to the Iron Horse Legacy series.
Normally I am not a huge fan of instalove, fast love, quick love or whatever you choose to call it. In the case of Utah and Liza, it didn't matter AT ALL. It was easy to sense the attraction and chemistry they had.
My intention was to read the first chapter to get a feel for the book. Big mistake. I kept going until I finished the epilogue. I think I held my breath from the first to the last chapter. I admit that I even held it for a moment during the epilogue.
The first 2 chapters were full of danger and suspense. Thinking about Liza and Tayla being in that situation was heart stopping. Even after Utah made an appearance I still had the sense of danger for Liza and Tayla.
The little moments of normalcy where Tayla got to be a kid were sweet. She stole the show. Even then, the suspense never let up.
I love it when Hank Patterson and the Brotherhood Protectors enter the picture. I thought it was great when the team and their significant others rallied around Utah, Tayla, and Liza.
This was a fast paced read that was full of almost non-stop action, danger, and suspense. While all of that was occurring, there was the romance, friendship, brotherhood, and some happy moments. As I mentioned before, there was also an epilogue. I do love an epilogue!
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a fast paced, suspense filled, romantic read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Another great read for this series. Elle James has hit it out of the ball park again. Liza and Tayla (her daughter) were kidnapped while they were out and taken to a supremist training camp to be an assassin. When they manage to escape with the help of her friend, PJ, they end up running out of gas and that's when they meet Utah on his way home. I loved Tayla, she's spunky for a 3 year old. There's plenty of action, suspense and a HEA.
I thought that this was a truly amazing read. Complex characters that are sinfully easy to care about are combined with an intense, smart, emotional, suspenseful, edge of your seat storyline that grips you fiercely. Pierce and Liza each had history that made my heart ache and little Tayla was a totally adorable scene-stealer that brought some real sweetness, cuteness and light to this pulse-pounding, action packed romp. I am posting an unbiased, unsolicited review.
When Utah finds Liza and Tayla everything he thought he knew about himself is proven wrong. They steal his heart the moment they stand up to him and he has no intention of asking for it back, surprising himself and them. The protection instincts he has tried so hard to bury and leave behind come racing back and he will stop at nothing to secure their safety and happiness and his future with them. Once again Team Lucky Lady come to the rescue along with every arm of the Brotherhood Protectors, in a fight to protect their own there can only be one winner.
Better grab this one up because it was magnificent!!! Elle James just keeps getting better and that’s saying a lot because she’s already one of my absolute favorite authors!!!
Such relatable and beautiful characters in Utah and Liza!!!! All the feels with a romance that is unforgettable!!!
Five stars all the way!!! I definitely recommend this book, well actually the whole series is awesome!!!
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review
Be prepared. It's immediate, non-stop fully immersive action from the very beginning in Utah, Book #9 in the Iron Horse Legacy Series. It has all the same awesome adventure and some nostalgic connections to Elle James' Brotherhood Protector's and the previous Iron Horse Legacy Series but totally blows you away with the new angle. We meet Pierce aka "Utah", an ex-Marine Force Recon member with a "...current uptight a-hole thing" going on. His job- working with other ex-soldiers renovating the Lucky Lady Lodge. As the responsible one, he is tasked with the mission of getting a friend to his wedding on time. So after a bachelor party for said friend, he heads home to Eagle Rock to get some needed rest before his task begins:) But, on his way home, he literally almost drives into our heroine Liza and her daughter Tayla. On the run after escaping "The Camp", where she has been held captive and forced to train as an assassin, Liza is less than trusting of Utah and his offer of help. But desperation makes for strange bedfellows. So with the help of Hank Patterson and the Brotherhood Protectors (who would love to recruit him) Utah takes on the task of protecting Liza and her daughter while trying to permanently shut down The Camp (which we later find out is part of an organization called The Chosen Way-which has been on the Brotherhood radar as evil for a long time). So basically Utah has to: convince Liza he really is one of the good guys, try to help her hide from the bad guys, work with the Brotherhood Protectors to track and shut down an evil organization which is also hunting Liza, navigate a growing relationship with the prickly heroine and her daughter, all the while being point man in preparing for his friend's wedding. Got it? Great. It's a fun trip that keeps you constantly gripping your seat in anticipation yet somehow making you laugh at the same time. I can totally recommend the book. I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! All of Elle James books are fantastic but this book is in a league of its own. It’s absolutely beautiful, full of depth and totally addictive.
I absolutely adore Utah. He makes my heart sing and my ovaries tingle. This man is everything we all secretly dream of having by our side. He’s a complete protector, a dominant alpha male, kind, caring, thoughtful.
Utah has a wonderful family in his brothers-in-arms. Their bond unbreakable. It’s so heartwarming to see the way they work as a well oiled machine, there for each other without hesitation.
The way he steps up without hesitation to help and protect Liza and Tayla. The ease in which he allows them into his heart is so endearing and heartfelt.
Liza is such a strong character. She’s a total badass, unwilling to break for the evil that controls her. She has a strong moral compass that won’t be bend for anyone.
Despite the danger lurking she works with Utah to taken the evil down, which is addictive and awesome to watch. But what holds you spellbound is the chemistry and bond that Utah and Liza have from the moment they meet.
These two characters are perfect for each other. Their beauty as apparent on the inside as it is on the outside.
The depth portrayed in this outstanding book by Elle James is utterly beautiful and spellbinding. Her talents as an author are, without question, first rate.
This is a phenomenal read. A truly beautiful rollercoaster ride which leaves you breathless and aching for more.
This is a definite must read and I cannot recommend highly enough. There aren’t enough stars in the night sky to fully portray how wonderful this read is.
I am amazed how Elle James is able to continuously come up with stories in multiple Series that captures my interest ever times. Her Series even crossover most of the times. I'm always interested in how she is going to use her characters from different series in the current Series. Elle didn't disappoint me this time either.
The book Utah is fun to read! There are two main characters Utah, a former US Marine, and Lisa, a woman running for her life with her child. They meet by chance on a back road where Lisa's stolen truck has run out of gas. Utah convinces Lisa to come back to the Iron Horse Inn with him for the night. Utah has no idea what he really has gotten himself into but he knows Lisa & her daughter are on the run and needs his help.
You won't be bored! There is so much going on between a wedding, trying to find the compound Lisa & her daughter had escaped, getting the Brotherhood Protectors involved, protecting Lisa & daughter from the bad guys and we can't forget the growing romance going on between Utah and Lisa. Add in all of the other elements of the book which has a lot going for it: lots of action, suspense, lots of twist and unpredictable turns, mystery, greed, wonderful characters, building trust, loyalty and love, emotions, and steamy romance.
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys Action & Adventure Romance, Suspense Romance, and Military Romance books. This book is easy to read, a page-turner, a beautiful love story and very entertaining. What more could you ask for?
We are back in Montana where a group of former military men have left that world of fighting and killing and are more than happy to work in construction. One of these men is the Pierce/Utah Turner. A consummated bachelor, he is happy with his new life, though maybe a little jealous of his friends who one by one are finding their soulmates. While driving back home in the middle of the night, he comes across a broken down truck littered with bullet holes and nearby a child and a woman. Liza Gray and her sweet three year old have just escaped the camp she was taken to after being kidnapped. A place that is training assassins. Escaping with her child, she never expected to come across a man that would not only become her savior, but also protector . This action packed story is filled with bad guys, hunk good ones from the Brotherhood Protectors, strong female characters and a sweet as well as tough alpha warrior. One of the things I like about this author is that whether you are new to the series, or a long time reader of it, in the midst of the storytelling, she manages to give the readers a tidbit of the premise of this series, the players as well as the connection with other series. Not an easy task and one well managed. Once again, delivering another winner in this series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own
Utah is the only army guy on the construction crew at the Lucky Lady Lodge, just as he was the only army personnel in the group in Afghanistan. It didn't bother him as he was always alone. He had no family and only a few friends which he liked. He had a lousy childhood and had no siblings. He was determined to avoid marriage and fatherhood. He was coming home late one evening from Bozeman where he had been at Murdock's bachelor party. Utah had volunteered to help set things up at the lodge for Murdock's wedding and reception, so had to be back home early, so he had not partied much. He was enjoying his solitary trip through the Crazy mountains when he came upon a truck on the road. Knowing what accident it could cause, he stopped to help. He found a lady with a three year old child stranded. He helped her get the truck off the road and set out prove he could be trusted. Liza and her daughter, Kayla, had been captive with the TCW where Liza was trained to be an assassin. When given her first job, she refused. She and her daughter were in danger, so they had escaped from the compound. Utah sets out to help them. At the same time, Kayla is burrowing her way into hislight.
This is an action packed read that takes off rom almost the first page and never really stops in fact it is one of those books that after the first page you are addicted and you won't want to put it down until you turn the last page
Pierce "UTAH" Turner has had enough of war and destruction and definitely enough of the politics that the military is full of so he has been quite happy helping to restore the Lucky Lady Hotel with his new brothers and even though Hank Patterson wants him to join the Brotherhood Protectors he isn't interested. Then things change when he has a chance meeting with a stunning young woman and her child at the side of a deserted mountain road. Liza has escaped from the camp where her and her three year old daughter Tayla have been held captive for the last six months A camp controlled bu the same people that Utah and the Brotherhood Protectors have had a run in with before Soon Utah is willing to do whatever he needs to do to protect the two female that have begun to mean everything to him but it will take the entire team to keep them safe. Can Utah finally find the one thing he has been looking for Peace at last.
Another outstanding book in the Brotherhood Protectors series. When Pierce/Utah gets out of the Marines lost, grieving and disillusioned. Even though he is offered a job with the Brotherhood organisation, he declines and picks up a construction job. He is done with the killing and just wants to keep busy and to himself. That’s until he comes by a broken down truck along the road and he doesn’t miss the bullet holes that riddle the vehicle. Liza is on the run, with her three year old daughter, to get away from the paramilitary compound she is being trained to be an assassin. Their leverage is her young daughter. She’s a crack shot but she doesn’t kill people. Utah turns out to be her protector by default. Every law enforcement agency is after this group, but haven’t been able to catch them. They have connections and move every time someone is sniffing around. This is not how he envisioned his life to be but his moral compass won’t desert her. Very well written. Lots of action and intrigue. Enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
A well-written, action-packed romantic suspense. It is steamy with relatable characters. I fell in love with Tayla. So wise beyond her years.
Utah is a former Marine. Now he spends his time renovating The Lucky Lady Lodge. He was asked to join the Brotherhood Protectors but decided he was tired of fighting and declined. “He wanted a job where he could see the fruits of his labors. A job where he could build things, not kill”. Then everything changed in a blink of an eye. He found a woman and child on the side of the road and knew he had to help them.
Liza and her daughter had been kidnapped. After spending ten months in “The Camp”, she realized why she was there. Her first assignment was to eliminate a congresswoman. They were training the “recruits” to be assassins. Now they were using her daughter against her to get what they want. Either complete the assignment or lose her daughter. No one had ever escaped, but she knew she had to try. Now they're on the run with no place to go, or no one to trust.
After her father’s death, her job loss, the bank foreclosure on the house, Liza Gray packed her toddler daughter, Tayla, and what she could fit in her car and took off for another city to live in. But her car broke down and the man that stopped to help, kidnapped them and forced her to train as an assassin. With a little help and her baby, Liza escaped. Pierce 'Utah' Turner, returning to his home/workplace rescued the pair off the mountain where they found trouble and took them with him.
Realizing Liza had escaped the CTW after hearing her story, Utah wasted no time calling Hank and the Brotherhood for help. The team searches for and finds the encampment but it’s empty! Tayla and Liza shatter Utah’s plan for the single life. As Liza dares to dream she’s out of her nightmare and onto a happy family life, Tayla’s kidnapped to force Liza into a task for CTW but for Utah that’s his family and the Brotherhood is always united! Rating: 4.25stars
This is another great book by Elle James, and I loved it. The Brotherhood Protectors has been trying to get Utah to join their organization, but he just left the Marines and is working in construction. Liza and her daughter, Tayla, were kidnapped by terrorist and they trained Liza to be an assassin. After ten months in The Camp, Liza and Tayla escaped. They met Utah when their truck ran out of gas. Tayla is three years old, with an old soul, but talks and acts like an adult. She is precious. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review, and I loved it. The suspense starts on page 1 and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole book. There’s lots of romance, suspense, anxiety, love and very likeable characters. I loved getting to see characters from previous books in these series too. I recommend it to everyone.
Utah is book 9 in the Iron Horse Legacy series. This book is amazing. It takes hold of you from beginnings to end. This story is about Pierce “Utah” Turner and Liza Grey and Tabla, her amazing and truly lovable 3 year old daughter daughter. Utah find a truck with bullet holes broken down on the side of the road. Utah rescues them and realizes he will do everything to protect them. He brings them back to the lodge he is working at and seeing how important they are to Utah, all of his friends are ready to do whatever has to be done to protect this little family. Liza tells them about the Camp, a violent group of survivalists, her kidnapping and her escape. The men make a plan to infiltrate the camp and rescue the other victims. Once you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down. I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the author. All of the opinions are my own.
Liza (Fly) Gray is running from The Chosen Way camp ( who was training her to be an assassin. Tayla is Liza’s daughter Pierre “Utah” Turner former Marne Force Recon. And works for Brotherhood Protectors.
Liza and Tayla are running from the TCW camp , when Utah comes across them On the side of the road in the pass going to Eagle Pass to The Lucky Lady Lodge.
Utah convinces Liza and Tayla to come with him to safety, that he I a good guy. Utah finds out what is going on with Liza, he calls Hank Paterson in to help. They find the TCW camp was empty and all is gone and disappeared.
Can Utah, Hank and the rest of the teamkeep Liza and Tayla safe and have a Happily Ever After?
This book has suspense, action. Intrigue, page turner, twists, turns and lots of drama and emotions.
Utah is former military who is helping to rebuild an Inn in Montana from the Brotherhood Protectors group. Liza is a woman who, along with her daughter Tayla, has managed to escape from a fanatic group of 'military' men who force abductees into training for murder & mayhem against the people they hate in state & federal governments. When Liza is rescued by Utah, the attraction is immediate & sizzling. When Utah realizes what Liza escaped from, the Brotherhood Protectors swing into action to take this group down permanently! This was quite the thrilling read, & Liza's daughter Tayla just adds to the story ten fold!! You won't want to miss this one! This arc was given to me for an honest review.
Utah by Elle James is book #9 in the Iron Horse Legacy series. What an exciting read! I really enjoyed how this book began at the TCW compound. Such an evil organization. The action began there in chapter one and raced along through to the end of the book. I love the characters. Liza Gray is brave, loving and determined. Her three-year-old daughter Tayla is super cute. Utah is the perfect completion to this little family. Plus it was great getting to see familiar characters from past books again. This was an enjoyable turn-the-page to see what happens next, action-packed book. I love this author's writing style. I'm sure her readers will love this latest release. I know I did.
After leaving the military Utah has found a home and family within the mountains of Montana and was enjoying the peace and relaxation that went along with it. When he finds Liza and her daughter stranded on the road he is determined to help and realizes as they are what he didn’t know he needed in his life.
Through no fault of her own Liza found herself in a dangerous situation and months later she and her daughter were finally able to escape. When the plan goes awry, she is about to find out that Utah might just be the best thing to happen to her especially as the danger around them escalates.
Suspense that keeps you on edge, a heartwarming romance and not only are Utah, Liza and Tayla great together but the family has found are there for him as well.
Utah and Liza's story was strongly felt with various emotions. It had me cringing at what Liza and her 3 year old daughter had to endure for ten months. It was now or never for them. She knew to run would have consequences, but it was a risk she was willing to take.
Luckily, Utah has groomsmen duties to attend to the following morning so he is headed back to the lodge, while his buddies and groom friend bar crawl. So, when he comes across a truck that is semi in the way of the road, he stops. He is determined to help the woman and child he finds so late at night. Their story is close to him and his friends. Can this bachelor help without tangling himself up?
Whoa! This one started a little more intense. Then we had a breather with the bachelor party, lol. This was a great addition to the Iron Horse / Brotherhood. When Lizza (Fly) and Utah (Pierce) meet I was afraid it was going to be a constant battle of her fear refusing to allow help. UTAH delivers suspense, intrigue, brotherhood, the feeling of family and of course the romance/steam. You really cannot go wrong with Elle James and I love when I a reading a series and there is a freshness and newness added along the way. Leaves you wanting the next one :) Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #UTAH #Ironhorselegacy #ellejames #twistedpageinc #bookfunnel
This was one dramatic, action packed story. I was captured from the beginning. Liza and her three year old daughter are living a life of hell in a camp training assassins. There seems to be no escape until things pan her way. Utah finds her broken down in a bullet ridden car and takes her to safety. Where she was held captive is important to the Protectors as they must shut this terrorist group down. This was a fast paced read, Liza and Utah had chemistrty that couldn't be denied. The danger would never stop as long as Liza walked free. This was such a heart stopping story, I couldn't put it down.
I really enjoyed the story of Utah, Lisa and her daughter Tayla. Lisa and Tayla were kidnapped and placed in a camp that trained assassins. They used Tayla against Lisa to get her to do what they wanted her to do. Needing to get out of the camp but not knowing how she could, Lisa is shocked to be helped by another kidnapped victim. When Utah stops to help a stranded victim on a road in the crazy mountains of Montana, he is reluctant to get involved but as he starts to find out that Lisa needs all the help she can get, he takes them to his house. Tayla takes his side and convinces Lisa he is a good guy. I recommend this book to everyone.
Another great read in this series and this time it’s Pierce aka Utah, who helps a stranded woman and her daughter that he finds on the side of the road. Liza has her reasons for not trusting Utah and she will do whatever it takes to keep her daughter, Tayla, safe. When Utah learns her secret he calls upon Hank and the BH protectors to help….but will it be enough to keep them both safe. I liked these two, no drama, no o/w, both protectors and how easily Utah connects with Tayla is heartwarming. A great read with suspense, some steam, great characters and an epilogue that will leave you smiling and chuckling out loud. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
From the start when Liza and her daughter escape their kidnappers with the help of PJ to Utah rescuing them from the roadside. Trust is built as Liza tells Utah of her enemies and with the help of Hank Patterson and the Brotherhood Protectors, they defeat her enemies and of course get there happy ever after. The 10th book in this series, Judge, comes out in June 2023. Can't wait, so excited for Judge to have his story and that PJ also turns up here. That's what I was hoping for. Definitely recommend this book as well as all the others in this series. Happy reading.
Elle nailed it with this one, but I gotta say that I loved Tayla, she was my favourite lol. She and her mother are kidnapped and LIza is forced to train as an assassin. With the help of another kidnapped woman, they are able to get away before she is forced to assassinate Congresswoman Lightfeather. When the kidnappers used her daughter as leverage, she didn't say no to the help to get out. It was heartstopping at times, the brutality of men who didn't care if their prisoners lived or died. This is one you want to read.
I really don’t want to be choosy but I think this is the story I loved most of this series. Firstly it’s an insta-love story and I practically fell in love with a courageous three year old who brought together a man who had never fallen in love before meeting them and a woman who was trying to fight the adversities of life. I don’t want to spoil the suspense but I highly recommend this amazing book.
