From the subways, the outer boroughs, the sewers, comes a magazine of New York prose as fresh as the fish from Fulton used to be before it became the fish from Hunt's Point. And unlike that fish, this prose is not controlled by the mob, but rather by a bunch of exciting, enterprising, and ruggedly handsome and lithely beautiful writers who just happen to be in high school.
I think it's really important to publish student writing and the various 826's are great sources for student penned work. I bought these at 826NYC. I enjoyed most of the pieces and would recommend them to anyone, expecially high school english teacher or students in middle and high school. It's imperative that students read work by other students and I'm sure I'll keep these books in my classroom for students to read and possibly use some of the work in the cirriculum.
