A valuable book showing the historic articles of the time, the conflicting and lived experience of the nineteenth century as covered by Harper’s magazine. It is useful, but it would have been nice if the book included citations to the original author and date of publication. Still, for one doing historical study, it is a valuable book to see how life was written about and even drawn at the time.
