Great fun, with the energy and feel of something from Disney's classic era. I don't think I've seen this short before, but now I'm going to seek it out, thanks to this fun book.

Kids who have seen the Pixar short (see it at YouTube) should enjoy this cute book.

In appearance it is very much like the movie. The pages are slick, black, and sturdy, and Day and Night frolic across them.

One of the reasons to buy is that it more clearly explains Day and Night's story. And I mention this because, honestly, after we left the movies -- it was a super large family gathering with people ranging from age 8 to 78 -- it became apparent that some of us (who shall remain nameless ; ) didn't understand what had gone on.

So having a book that has words ought to help children with this story that is mostly told with images.

THE SKINNY:::
Seems like a sturdy book. The slick black pages show the images well; although of course they aren't 6 feet tall and back lit.

Unlike the movie short, the book isn't wordless and this gives adults the opportunity to explain the storyline.

Back in 2010, when the long awaited Toy Story 3 came out in cinemas, there was of course the expectation of one of Pixars oh so wonderful short films. Day and Night was the short film that accompanied Toy Story 3.

There isn't much in the way of the written word in this book. The basic storyline is that Day is out walking one morning when it finds something strange, attempts to walk past but it wakes up and we are told that it is Night. Day and Night have a little fight but then they discover some great things about eachother, like butterflies and fireworks, and then they discover what they create together.

While it is such a simple and lovely book, it doesn't hold the charm of the original short film, but it is still a little delight to read and my kids enjoyed it.

When Day wake up in the morning, Day finds Night unexpectedly. As they meet each other, they surprise weird appearance. Day has something just as delightful, and so does Night. They become friendly day by day watching their inside appearance. They totally are different. Day has day life, but Night shows us night life. They enjoy watching their curious inside. Eventually they become familiar having happy life. Children can learn different day and night life from this colourful image book. This book describes well the difference of day and night.

LOVE this! No surprise the artist is from Pixar because the story reads like watching a short animated film. Night and Day's expressions are so perfect and their illustrations are detailed enough to entertain the oldest kids (myself included) but simple enough for preschoolers to enjoy (especially if the adult reading is very enthusiastic). Definitely a new favorite.

Teddy Newton's short film translates very well to book format, although whether the most appreciative audience will be kids or adult animation fans is up for grabs--but the film was the same way! The book makes a great collection item or addition to any Pixar fan's bookshelf.
