Sometimes, all it takes is one moment, one reaction; other times, it's a slow and methodical build-up. But all the killers portrayed in this book committed crimes of passion - through jealous rages or intense love-hate relationships, or both. The motives and actions of over 100 murderers who committed notorious crimes of passion are revealed with detail and clarity.
Common spelling errors that seem to be normal in Igloo's books. It was an interesting set of murders to read about, including one about the first photographed death by electric chair taken with a camera strapped to the journalist's ankle.
There were a lot of crimes I hadn't heard before, which I found really interesting and sent me down many rabbit holes of reading about them all. The stories are short but detailed enough to explain things well, I would recommend this book for any true crime lover.
c2009: Great pictures with short and succinct stories of the crime and punishment. One of the featured stories involves George Stoner of Bournemouth who my Dad actually worked with. He did not know him but knew who he was. Interesting to have a personal connection even one so remote. My Dad remembers the surge of popular sentiment in trying to have the death sentence put aside and this resulted in the death sentence being commuted to a life sentence. He did only serve 7 years in jail though! Recommended
Set out like an encyclopedia this book contains many interesting stories of Crimes of Passion from as far back as the 1700s. It really makes you wonder what on earth goes through people's minds when they commit these crimes - especially the ones that are premeditated. Sadly the book is marred by a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes, and also sometimes repeats paragraphs twice.
