There are books which are quick and breezy reads. And then there are books that are meant to be enjoyed slowly and savored. This is one of the latter. I found myself slowing my pace down just so I could appreciate the richness of Thoreau’s words. Overall a beautiful, beautiful book. Don’t get me wrong, this is not an action-packed narrative. But the simplicity of Thoreau’s day-to-day life in his hand-built cabin beside Walden Pond is a fascinating read and worth every moment of your time.
