Really enjoyed this book. It is packed with the authentic feel of the pilots, their planes, their thoughts and feelings, their stories all told with a book full of pictures and portraits filled with detail. Each person came to his own insightful conclusions about the war, and the decisions by the leadership on both sides of the channel are fascinating, such as the Germans decision to quit bombing the coast and begin the bombing of London...Why? How did that work out? Really good stuff.
Once you feast your eyes on what Philip Kaplan can do with a subject like this one, you are left spoiled and yearning for more of the same. His choice of imagery from vintage photos and present day artifacts are a relevation and artistically pleasing and informative at the same time. Books like this don't come around very often. It is on my shelf with my most prized works. Bravo!
