Charles Bukowski's California buddy, without the profanity and violence. The use of language is, however, quite comparable.

A pretty good book of poetry from Gerald Locklin, one of history's most prolific poets and writers, and a man Bukowski called L.A.'s best writer. I didn't like this collection as much as The Firebird Poems, but it's still a fine book. A tad too tranquil. Maybe Locklin's mellowing as he's aging, but then, don't we all?
