This volume was a SLOG. I like the concept happening. I love the art.

There is almost at times too much text per panel/page though. Which is a weird complaint to non manga readers but I felt like I was trying to balance reading and seeing the art at the same time.

The first half annoyed me a bit with the maiden goddess business again, but then Apollo's bare crotch appears as a flash of light for the rest of his naked appearances which was great... Really enjoyed the Sphinx as well. Hermes' Classical Greece-era tinder was brilliant. Apollo sent Hermes...? Cant wait for the next volume, whenever that comes out.

Continues to be completely insane but oddly still keep to the idea of the myth better than most retellings I've read lately. Hades/Persephone is overdone as hell at this point, but this at least gives you 3734897493 other characters to be amused by at the same time.

I liked the different Goddesses meeting Hades. But the relationship between Hades and Persephone is strange. She said in the beginning that she's not interested in Hades but now she's doing the exact opposite. I get romance books but it's just weird that suddenly she's trying to stop him from being with someone else. The storyline isn't really flowing from volume 1. I'm kinda disappointed with this volume and it was a little difficult to get through.

This series is already just so goofy and ridiculous, and honestly, that's a huge part of its charm. But it's also very cute and the actual overarching plot does have its intriguing moments. It has no right being this fun, but here it is, and I love it for that reason.

J'étais curieuse de voir ce qu'allait donner cette courte romantasy mythologique pur jus en 3 tomes. Yuho Ueji revisite vraiment avec humour les classiques du genre.

Grâce à un très joli trait, travaillé et riche en détail, l'autrice nous embarque vraiment dans un beau royaume mythologique avec des personnages qui font rêver, des lieux qui ne font pas si peur que ça et des créatures qui amusent. A l'image des couvertures, on peut dire que son trait fin fait des ravages à l'intérieur et qu'on en prend plein les mirettes. Je suis moins fan en revanche quand l'humour s'en mêle et que le dessin se veut plus rapide et plus drôle, ça surcharge les pages et n'apporte pas grand-chose...

Il faut dire que le mélange entre mythologie et humour est assez singulier mais fonctionne la plupart du temps. Les chapitres se suivent et se ressemblent dans la quête de femme pour Hadès. Une occasion pour aller à la rencontre de grande figures connues de notre mythologie, d'Artémis, en passant par le Sphinx et le Styx. Si c'est amusant de voir l'incarnation de certaines avec un humour qui fonctionne plutôt bien, pour d'autres le bouchon est poussé trop loin et l'excès est l'ennemi du bien. Les chapitres sont donc assez inégaux, parfois drôles de bout en bout, parfois un brin indigestes et soporifiques.

J'ai aimé en tout cas qu'on joue ainsi avec les codes. L'autrice ne se prend vraiment pas au sérieux et si elle fournit un travail sérieux sur les dessins, elle est plus légère sur l'histoire avec cette redite de la recherche d'une épouse qu'il refuse sans cesse. Sauf que ça a en devient un peu répétitif et qu'Hadès évolue peu. Ça joue vraiment sur les détails et ça avance très doucement et subtilement. Les amateurs de slow burn et de romantasy se feront plaisir, pour les autres c'est très très léger, peu profond et peu travailler, car l'humour fait tout.

Ça se lit ainsi sans déplaisir, tant on s'amuse de cette anti-quête proposée par l'autrice. Hadès est également un beau anti-héros surprenant dans ce cadre. Les histoires s'enchaînent et on se demande toujours qu'elle sera la prochaine créature ou divinité que l'autrice va mettre sur notre chemin pour s'amuser avec lui. Certes le fil rouge est ténu, certes c'est un peu répétitif mais c'est assez drôle à suivre.

Un concept amusant, une anti-quête originale, des personnalités bien connues dans notre occidentale, voici les ingrédients de cette drôle romantasy mythologique qui dépoussière le personnage d'Hadès. Cela repose parfois trop sur l'humour, ça survole un peu son sujet et ses personnages, mais c'est drôle et divertissant, avec de très beaux dessins, et en 3 tomes, on ne crache pas dessus ^^

Pour se marier, il faut d’abord pouvoir aimer?

Nous voilà de nouveau aux côtés d’Hades et Coré pour un second tome!

Le monde des dieux est toujours autant en ébullition à l’idée qu’Hades cherche enfin une épouse.

C’est donc un défilé des divinités féminines qui se déroule aux enfers, mais tout cela n’est pas du gout du concerné qui préfère travailler.

Coré, elle, ne perd pas espoir et tente de rendre la vie des enfers plus agréable.

On voit tout de même qu’Hades commence à prendre conscience des sentiments naissants qu’il cultive pour Coré. La jeune femme le laisse de moins en moins indifférent, mais il refuse encore de se l’avouer.

Le ton du manga entre référence mythologiques et humour est tout à fait délicieux! On rit, one apprend, on frissonne et on bat des pieds à l’idée que les deux tourtereaux découvrent enfin leurs sentiments.

Le sujet est si bien maitrisé par l’auteur que les petites sorties des mythes ne dérangent pas.

Je prends un réel plaisir à découvrir cette série et il me tarde d’avoir le tome 3 (même s’il s’agira du dernier tome)!

This is the first truly great manga I’ve read this year, and I absolutely love it. Among the many retellings of Hades and Persephone, this one stands out as my favorite. I especially love how Hades is portrayed as someone fair, protective, and deeply selfless. The characters are wonderfully chaotic, and Eros’s and other Gods’ playful energy adds such a fun touch to the story. One thing that slightly disappointed me was how some of the goddesses were portrayed as naive and submissive, but that didn’t overshadow how strong the overall narrative felt. The art is beautiful, the pacing is smooth, and the emotional moments hit hard. This is definitely at the top of my list for the year.

Everything I said in my first review still stands here, but the story itself has found a decent flow. There are a lot of words, which made this a longer than usual read for a manga. The first chapter with Hestia is the weakest, but it leads into the best chapter when Apollo steals the show. I like the Sphinx character design and the battle of wits. Hermes is so over the top, but the reactions of Thanatos and Hypnos are hilarious. Over all, a good showing for the second volume with a lot packed in and perhaps some realizations by Hades? 🤨

I finally got to read the second volume, which was on order at the library when the other two were available. Must admit one and three are better books…this is a parade of various marriage candidates without as much insight into Hades and Kore/Persephone. Hecate has her main showing in this volume, which was fun, but left some unanswered questions. Overall, I enjoyed the trilogy and hope to read it again sometime in order.

I like the art style, design, and illustration. However the story repeats itself again: introduces renowned goddesses and gods, and yet Hades remains unmarried. The plot needs to pick up somewhere, otherwise I'm bored and probably won't read volume 3 once it's published.

This is really dumb, but the art style is pretty and the dumb humour still somehow keeps pulling me back in. The gods suck - especially the male Gods - but Hades' deadpan reactions to them all was a highlight of the volume.

The incest was too much for me. I know how Greek mythology was, but having both Zeus and Poseidon try to sleep with a turned female Hades just took me out.
also, the designs of the gods are super creative, but at this point it feels like the story keeps dragging.

Si le trait est plaisant, le rythme du récit et sa narration souffrent d’une forte redondance. On a davantage l’impression de lire une succession de mini-récits centrés sur différents personnages de la mythologie, plutôt qu’une véritable histoire continue. C’est un shojo en trois tomes, donc je vais aller jusqu’au bout – d’autant que les personnages principaux sont vraiment intéressants, mais ce n’est clairement pas la révélation de l’année. Le potentiel est là, mais reste trop peu exploité.
