As a new Navigator in the Federated Alliance Fleet, Abel has just been partnered with an intimidating Fighter, Cain, on an assignment to keep Earth and her colonies safe from an outside threat. When Abel's skills are put to an early test, he gets a chance to see why Cain has earned a reputation as the best Fighter on the station. Cain's plans involve more than fighting, however, and Abel is forced to confront desires he's kept only to himself, until now…
A little something pornographic for in between. Freely available at starfightercomic.com. Warning: No world-buildingfor this first chapter, questionable consent, and consists only of a battle scene and a sex scene. I need a shower... preferably cold...
I hardly ever find sex in comics hot, but this one was! I guess I have a thing and apparently it is the artist being able to draw anatomy correctly. I don't mean genitals, I mean having realistic proportions and joints etc. Maybe those other manga were hot too and I was simply too distracted by the weirdly elongated limbs and contorted backs n stuff?
Also really liked the subdued use of color. Excellent job Mr. (or Miss or neither, I don't care) Machine.
This was so effing brilliant. And graphically delicious. I have an unhealthy thing for asshole boys in literature (Kyo Sohma, Edward F. Rochester, Felix Rivendale, Colin Sandhurst...you get the gist). You know, the ones who are mean to the protagonist but secretly are trying to come to terms with their feelings for them. Men wrestling with their burgeoning emotions are always so hot. :')
Starfighter is a sci-fi futuristic webcomic in which humans are fighting an alien life force who are threatening to invade the Earth. Each team has a pair of partners- a Fighter and a Navigator-a combination of brawn and brain.
Abel gets assigned to Cain who is a Fighter and kind of a possessive nutjob hardass with a bad reputation and he doesn't take much time in staking his claim on his virgin(?) gay Navigator.
Well, hello, sexy times!
Half of the time, Cain is either fucking Abel/getting fucked by him or growling and threatening him that he's his bitch ergo he must do as he's told. Which seriously makes me question my moral principles because non-con/dubious-con is so wrong. Where is my morality? Why was I guzzling reading this kind of kinky smut at 3am last night and grinning so hard? So many questions beg to be answered but IT WAS SO FUCKING HOT, OH MY GOSH. ;____;
Also, so much butt secks.
I mean, that's gay porn for you, right, but still.
So, yeah.
Can hardly wait to know what happens next. Hamlet Machine, hurry up!
Me encantan Caín y Abel ♡♡♡♡ La trama de este primer capítulo, bueno, es introductoria y no es para tirar cohetes. Ahora, los dibujos OMG, muy calentitos como a mi me gustan
aaaahhhh yeah so people who said this was weird were hmm definitely right
The thing is, I really like sci-fi graphic novels so I wanted to try this but I was CONFUSED and also kinda ?? about what I was reading. This basically is about a group of pilots/fighters in space who are battling an alien species, but most of this book is taken up by the relationship between Cain and Abel
Cain and Abel (are given those matching names, for a start) and are basically pilot and co-pilot? Anyway, they're also fucking and it's really explicit so be aware of that. I'm kinda dubious on the romance because it was ... just on the border of being dub-con. I wouldn't say it IS dub-con but it's hovering in that area and that's kinda eeehhh.
Abel is gay and closeted and Cain is the first man he sleeps with, but Cain is kinda possessive and a little bit .. violent? He definitely dominated in the sexual scenes so Idk if I can recommend this ?? exactly ?? I don't know I'm a bit on the fence
So I think it's best to just say this comic has really explicit sex scenes with consent that borders on dubious. So be wary.
But damn, that ending. I want to continue because of the cliffhanger and see where it goes, and I like that each chapter is quite long because that suits my webcomic reading style better
Finally, the art is AMAZING. I loved the colours and the style and the way it's all drawn. Soo loved it
This 18+ webcomic can be found for free at starfightercomic.com. It’s a deliciously fun, gay/mm, space opera, graphically graphic! Chapters 1-5 are available online.
It’s an enemies to lovers theme, with subplots of political intrigue, space battles, and secret powers. The art style is unique and the storyline intriguing. Loved it!
The first graphic novel I’ve read for ages. And it was… hot 🔥
I usually don’t need to look at pictures (or videos) to get my fantasy movie going, but this was very hot. It’s only 64 pages, so as you can guess, it’s not much of a plot (except for introducing the two main characters, Cain, “the dark one”, a fighter/pilot, and Abel, “the light/innocent one”, his navigator.
They fight, and they fuck. And as you probably guessed from the “Chapter 1” in the title, it’s just the beginning of a story - and it ends with a cliffhanger.
Perfect for in between - a hot break, and it whets your appetite for more 🔥
I was a little disoriented by the lack of build-up in every aspect, things seemed to happen out of nowhere and I was ready to give up on it, but the last page hints at interesting developments to come. I’m hoping it’ll get better and I’ve been assured that it does, so onto the next chapter.
Review: Originally I was just going to share my thoughts for each chapter in this webcomic, but my thoughts for the early chapters don't do the series justice. (My rating for Ch. 1 is 2 stars, but my rating for the series is more like 4 stars.) So I'm gonna start with a series review, and then I'll give my thoughts for Ch. 1 specifically.
It's funny because there was no part of me that would've guessed when I first started this comic that I would kind of love it by the end.
This story started out with a problematic and kinda dubcon relationship, it was all about the sex, and Cain was a jerk. (None of which makes a story bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting and wasn't working for me.) But it evolved into a great story---if you can get past the premise of a space army full of hot, young, horny gay guys---that wasn't just about sex, with characters I really cared about and sweet relationships I totally shipped!
It took me a while to understand the premise with the war and fighting, but honestly, you don't need to fully understand that. The focus is on the relationships and the lives of the characters.
All the main characters seemed to have some sort of growth that made me love them by the end, even if I disliked them at the start. And I loved that Cain and Abel weren't the only interesting characters. Cain was dominant, violent, and arrogant, but he was also desperate and just wanted a way out. Abel was quiet and steady but firm in his convictions. Deimos was sneaky and quiet but not as meek as he appeared. Keeler was compassionate and determined, desperate in his own way. Encke was strict and by-the-book but had a good heart. The author/artist made me interested in all of them.
This story had a nice mix of elements. There was romance. There was a lot of very explicit and steamy sex. There were some fun action sequences with space battles or characters fighting each other. There was a bit of a mystery.
There was even some disability rep among side characters. Praxis was missing an eye, and Keeler had some sort of invisible disability related to body modifications.
The art started out a bit rough but really improved over the course of the series. I have mild complaints---it was hard to tell flashbacks from the present, and pages could've been organized better sometimes---but the art itself was great. The use of color was cool too, with just some things having a bit of color, sometimes bold and noticeable, sometimes only a subtle hint. The artist also paid a lot of attention to facial expressions and always made them so expressive.
Altogether this story is 400-something pages, but it felt shorter. I think it was a pretty a quick read. Some things could've been explored a bit more in-depth or a little less rushed near the end, but I know comics are a lot of work to make, especially for free. I just wanted more because it was good!
Overall, I really enjoyed this in the end, both the story and the artwork, and became really invested in these characters!
*I've read this comic multiple times. This review was written after my 2nd read.*
*This review is based on the webcomic. Other formats may have differences I am not aware of.*
1st Read Thoughts (Ch. 1):
What did I just read? The first thing Cain did was tell Abel that he (Abel) was his (Cain's) bitch now and bite his lip in order to mark him. And Abel just kinda let him. Then they went on a mission to blow up an enemy base, and Cain jacked off in the ship on the way back. Then they got back to their shared room and I had a brief moment of happiness when Abel stood up to Cain, but boy was it brief because immediately after that they started getting it on. I mean, I didn't mind the naughty bits, but I would've liked a story that made sense and maybe some believable characters to go with the naughty bits. Is this how all yaoi is? Maybe it's just not my thing. But anyway, it's free, so I can't complain too much. And the art style is a little rough at times but good. If you just want some explicit, sexy, erotic drawings, I think you'll find this satisfactory. I'll keep reading because it's free and pretty to look at and maybe it'll get better.
Chapter 1 was mediocre. Kinda dubcon, though actually not as bad as I remembered it being since Abel did consent and ask for Cain to fuck him. It's just that Cain was pushy about it at first and could've been more considerate and gentle. Also, Cain was a complete asshole, and my first instinct is to say I don't understand why Abel would choose him of all people to sleep with for the first time. But, when I think about it, I guess I can understand. It was something he really wanted but had never had, and here it was being offered, and Cain was so dominant and forceful that it would've been hard for him to say no when he did kind of already want it. But this chapter was definitely about the sex more than anything else.
Recommended For: Anyone who likes erotic comics, manga-style artwork, space battles, m/m romance, and romance that starts a little fucked up but ends cute.
Okay so hello it's me I accidentally started another comic again, I swear I didn't want to but it's just my mouse slipped and I clicked on the Starfighter site because I really like Hamlet Machine and I didn't know the comic was free but then it was and I AIN'T SAYING NO TO A FREE COMIC so anyway I read the first page and then the second and then I WAS REALLY WEIRDED OUT like what the fuck was I even reading?? Then I continued and it kinda made more sense again THEN BOOM WEIRD AND SEXUAL AGAIN and then AND THEN IDK IDK VERY NSFW STUFF HAPPENED and then the last page happened and I think I'm hooked help
Also yeah this is not a review I guess but BE CAREFUL IF YOU WANT TO READ THIS IT'S DEFINITELY 18+ and I guess my review will come after I finish it (is it still ongoing????? idk I literally know nothing about this thing)
I should begin by saying that when I started this Webcomic I had no idea it was still a WIP (currently mid-Chapter 4). This seems like important information for one to have going in, at least for me because I’m the most impatient person ever and I positively hate waiting. But if you don’t have an issue with reading incomplete works then I highly recommend this one because it was awesome!!
The story is set in a futuristic space age, where humans are fighting in an intergalactic war against a hostile life force (can’t recall their names, but they’re bad!). Our combat style involves teams of two: a “fighter” who pilots the spacecraft and a “navigator” who maps out and guides the way. In order to be truly successful, each team much work succinctly together to achieve victory.
At the beginning of the story, a new team is made. Codenames: Cain and Abel.
Cain is a fighter. He’s ruthless, domineering, possessive and slightly mental (this could just be me but I highly doubt it – this guy is whackadoodle).
Abel is a navigator. He’s kind, brave and naïve, and he’s eager to do his part to help in the ongoing war.
Immediately upon pairing, Cain “claims” Abel as his. He’s a bit of an asshole about it, scarring Abel so that everyone knows to steer clear of what is his. Like I said, Cain is a tad demented, but in a highly entertaining kind of way. In the first chapter I despised him and had no understanding of how I was meant to root for this guy in the long run. Luckily shit develops and my views of him changed and deepened over the course of the story, and now I’m positively whackadoodle for Cain – so it goes.
The relationship that develops between the two is steamy and possessive. Although, the reader is immediately fixed with a clear level of mistrust for Cain and his intentions from the get-go, but as information is revealed I couldn’t help but sympathise with Cain and his plight.
I enjoyed the combat scenes; the space-war action was sufficiently intense.
The visual graphics of this comic are fairly impressive too. I found myself re-viewing several pages just to soak in the minute details that I otherwise would have missed because I was flying through the pages at quite a fast pace – which speaks of how engaged I was with the story from start to (current) finish.
And just like that, another reading obsession is born…
Well, I guess I can only say I didn't believe the reviews when they said the sex scenes were explicit. Because, well, they were explicit. Like, seriously, everything is drawn. It's basically porn. The first chapter didn't even have much of a plot but a very basic introduction.
BUUUUUT, the little plot that it did have, resulted in a cliffhanger and now I just have to know what happens next. Onto the next chapter then!
This is a self-published yaoi manga that pretends to be a sci-fi story. Don't get fooled. It's just one steamy and racy yaoi with pretty good graphics. Oops, I think I just advertised it...
I binged this series in one sitting. The story is easy to understand but the plot was predictable. The real gem of this series is the artwork which is absolutely stunning. But I found the story far too sexual and had to skip through many scenes because of its sexual content. I only recommend this series if you are fully comfortable with sex scenes.
I have to give this five stars because it was the first yaoi GN I ever read: at the time I didn't even know such a genre existed. Someone told me they liked this illustrator called HamletMachine, and when I googled her, I found Starfighter. (The second was Miamoto Kano's Rules series, which completely blew my mind; how lucky was I?! However I then expected all yaoi to be that good - what a letdown I was in for!).
As a graphic novel, Starfighter is not actually very good. HM's panel layout is unvaried and bland, and this ignores the whole visually splendiforous possibilities that make GNs so good; they should be more than just a film screen inked on paper. Also, the whole "I'm going to fuck you now, Abel" is like a ironic riff on yaoi's lack of plot.
However HM has a deft hand with her (nearly) monochromatic artwork (her single-page extras are even better), and Cain is so hot. Mean, nasty, violent, has a hidden agenda and a gorgeous cock: oooh, I'm drooling again.
In Chapter 2 HM lost her way a bit, with poor pacing, and clearly she didn't know where the plot was taking her, but here, in Chapter 1, it was something sweet and special.
I loved the art, and the story too gives hints which I’m excited for in Chapter 2. Can I just say those sexy times were drawn beautifully, it’s like watching a photo reel. Cain and Abel jumps from the pages, they’re addicting! On to the next one then!😊
Okay so this webtoon is completely free to read. If you google starfighter comics the official website pops up and away you go.
I gotta say it started out dodgy and after only one page I didn't know if I wanted to continue. I think chapter one was kinda all over the place in terms of storyline but it did get so much more interesting as the chapters went on. We started to get less sex and more storyline action which I enjoyed.
Like I say in all my reviews the characters make or break graphic novels/books for me. I feel like at first Cain was horrible to Abel but as the story went on we see more to him and I'm still curious enough to see what makes him behave the way he does. He's too possessive though. That could be diled down. Abel on the other hand surprised me. I mean he grew so much in three chapters. I'm interested to see how this graphic novel continues and what's going to happen.
The plot only seemed to come to life in chapter two and once again we have snippets of information but not enough for me to judge as a whole yet. I'm intrigued I'll give it that.
All in all, It started of really erotic at the beginning and I did skip them scenes but once the storyline got going it was really interesting. I'm intrigued enough to continue on when the next chapter is available.
Wow... This series is really graphic. 18 and up? More like 21 and up. This isn't rated R it's NC-17. And I thought Saga was inappropriate. Actually, I think Saga and Starfighter are on the same level of inappropriateness but the sexual scenes in this series happen in far quicker succession. I hope the author of this isn't straight b/c then, based on all the sex scenes, it would feel like more fetishization. The artwork is really well done though.
Anyway, if you're someone who can handle the 'porn level' images lol, you might find this sci-fi story interesting. When reading ch.1 I wasn't sure if I'd be entirely okay with the relationship since Cain from the beginning is such an aggressive asshole (just forewarning you about its problematic element if you decide to read this). I'm all up to date so I'll probably continue reading, however, since it's a web comic I'll most likely be horrible at checking to see if it's been updated.
Starfighter Chapter 1 ~ Hamlet Machine 47 Story Pages/10 Illustration Pages Self-published & webcomic
Quick Synopsis:
Space can be a cold place and on a space station full of men (and seemingly no women) what’s a boy to do? Fuck his teammate, that’s what. Ok, so maybe I’m simplifying the story just a bit but to be honest, we’re still early on in a story that is staying tight lipped on what is to come. There’s an unknown enemy to fight, teammates to despise and underhanded scheming that makes me desperate for more.
Plot:
The story revolves around navigators and fighters with navigators being portrayed as intelligent but weak and fighters as gruff and more apt to do their thinking with their fists. Neither likes the other yet they must work together to fight the enemy. You see, in each ship there’s a navigator to navigate during the fight and the fighter who fires on the enemy. One can’t work without the other.
I love that Starfighter takes place in space with this fiery division between the fighters and the navigators. In order to do their job they must work together but it is clear each thinks they are better than the other. The only time they seem to come together is when fighting the enemy and in this volume, we have yet to find out who that is and just why they are fighting.
After reading chapter 1, I found myself wondering if the navigators and fighters are breed for their roles. The similar look they have to each of their own kind as well as similar personality traits makes me wonder if they are some sort of lab creation or if on their world they are each a specific race or ethnicity. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
Character Development:
Our two main characters have the task names of Cain and Abel. Cain is a fighter and Abel is his navigator so if their designations don’t tip you off to the impending conflict, their names sure do! To put this in yaoi terms, Cain is definitely the sadistic seme whereas Abel is the timid yet sometimes feisty uke. I think I can best sum this up with my favorite quote from the book:
“Oh Abel… I’m going to fuck you.”
And fuck him he does.
Sexual Content:
Speaking of fucking, let’s get into the sexual content of this one since that is a huge part of this chapter. Is there sex? Yes. Is there lots of sex? Absolutely. In fact there are 16 pages of sex out of a 47 page story and it IS explicit. Boy parts look like boy parts, no ghost penis here. It’s in the sexual content that I feel Cain absolutely shines. He’s sadistic for sure yet here and there he shows just a hint of sweetness to Abel; although you could compare this sweetness to a stranger offering a piece of candy to a child so take that for what it is. If you’re looking for sweet, loving sex scenes, this isn’t going to be for you.
Readability:
This is originally written in English so there was no translation necessary. The speech bubbles are well placed and when it changes to inner dialogue, it is obvious. Speaking of, that is one thing I really loved in this story, Abel’s inner dialogue. It would be so easy to dismiss him as a weak uke type but his inner dialogue makes him so much more than that. I believe him as a character and I find him to be just as interesting as the sadistic Cain. I usually don’t find myself that interested in the uke characters but I like Abel and I find myself worrying about him. But let me say this, don’t write off our little Abel as naïve. I think he’s more aware than he lets on.
Illustrations:
As far as the illustrations themselves, there are quite a few things I really like. First off, HamletMachine has a very unique style in my opinion. It’s a nice combination between a more realistic style of drawing and the manga style and it works. You can see more of the realism when you see the naked butts. No I’m not kidding and I’m not embarrassed to say it!
Where HM really shines is in the background detail. More often than not it seems the background detail is overlooked or is considered to be a minor part of the story. With Starfighter taking place in space, there are great details in the starships, the fighting and the space station itself. I must make one other observation that I’ve never made before… I love the font! It works!
Starfighter is not black and white. There are hints of color with the black, gray and white theme of the story. I think if this was full vibrant color, it wouldn’t work. The story is dark and somewhat sinister so the hints of color really bring attention to what was intended by the artist.
Another element of the illustrations I enjoyed was the expressions of both Cain and Abel. The look on Abel’s face when he first see’s Cain’s dick is priceless and the final shot of Cain is so damn sinister, you realize then there is so much more yet to come (in more ways than one I bet!).
Now here’s the REAL reason you want to go and pick yourself up a copy, the illustrations in the back of the book. Holy hot! There are 10 color illustrations after the story and damn, some of them are seriously dirty. As far as I know, these are not anywhere online so if you want to see them, you need to buy a copy. A physical copy of Starfighter goes for $14 on the Starfighter website. The cover is glossy and the paper quality is much better than what we typically get. I’m guessing this is because of the color and it not being a black and white comic with the usual cheap paper.
Final Thoughts:
I think it’s pretty obvious I love this one. The story is fabulous yet totally mysterious, the sex is scorching and the illustration quality is pretty damn good and getting more and more refined. What’s even better? You can read it for free (and legally) right online! If you love it like I do, you’ll want to buy a copy. It’s so worth having in your hands and being able to flip through, especially for the hot and oh so dirty pics in the back!
Plot: A (I’m holding off on an A+ until I see more) Character Development: A Sexual Content: A+ Readability: A+ Illustrations: A+
It's not dub-con/non-con, but it's...weird-con. I don't know what the official term for this is, but it's not my kind of thing. The end had me curious enough to keep reading since it's free, but it did not pay off.
The art for the series as a whole is disappointing. The action scenes are kind of confusing, anytime it goes back and forth between dream sequences and flashbacks gets confusing -- or pointless -- and sometimes it would switch to the POVs of secondary or tertiary characters and really lose momentum.
Whole series review: 4.5⭐ Came for the good porn and HamletMachine's great art, ended up being met with a gripping plot, even more great art, and handfuls of lovely side characters and their subplots. When I first found Starfighter, many years ago, I didn't think it would turn out this good, or this big. Only thing stopping me from outright giving it 5 stars is some character visual changes, probably due to style changes, and a couple of the older panels that weren't so great. Other that that I really loved this comic!! Looking forward to check the newer works.
