Offers ways for girls to decide how they would like to decorate their bedrooms, and provides advice on decorating styles, cleaning, sharing a bedroom, and other common issues.
This vintage American Girl guide takes girls through a personality quiz and then shares interior decorating advice for each of the four categories they're boxing girls into. I didn't relate to any of the design aesthetics strongly, and never would have, but there are a variety of unique and interesting decorating ideas here. Many of them were too intense, dramatic, and maximalist for me, but there were some really clever ideas, and I like the emphasis on doing DIY projects and shopping your own house for things instead of thinking you need money to do a room makeover.
I prefer the mid-90s AG book Groom Your Room: Terrific Touches to Brighten Your Bedroom, since it doesn't have the personality basis and is less over-the-top. Still, this brightly colored book captures the styles of the early 2000s, was a nice nostalgia trip, and could still appeal to some girls today who are looking for flashy, budget-friendly ways to update their room.
