I bought this book well after I'd painfully learned many of its lessons. Still, it was definitely worth the money I paid - for still-to-do projects and retrospectives.

101 Performance Projects is well written and adorned with excellent, helpful photographs - much, much better than corresponding garbage in Haynes and Bentley manuals and - Lord, help me - on the Web; and it is pretty comprehensive for most people's purposes too. (By the time this book isn't enough to inform your tuning projects, you'll know where else to go!)

The book's only shortcoming is natural: it can't possibly stay up-to-date with the latest options for the projects it covers. Still, follow-on searches to fill in missing blanks are a joy compared to doing without 101 Performance Projects.

Seriously, if you have an E30 or E36 that you're going to tune - and be honest with yourself, buy this book sooner rather than later. It will pay for itself very quickly.
