The brand-new Candy Apple book--a super special!--from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Papademetriou!
Rosa Hernandez has always loved ice skating, but it wasn't exactly a popular sport in her hometown of Miami, Florida. So when her mom's job transfers them to Chicago, Rosa can't wait to take her skating to the next level. She promptly enrolls in classes, where she meets the sweet, non-competitive Meena Williams, and icy-cold star skater Jacqui Darcy. Rosa's coach thinks she's got what it takes to participate in the Skate Chicago contest, but can Rosa maintain her desire to win without losing her love of the sport?

My opinion on this book is that it's really entertaining. This book is also a girly read from Candy Apple. The page count is good and it's a strong story. The concept of this story is that it's really strong, well thought, entertaining, and appealing to young readers. This book would most likely be for tweens and pre-teens. The book is about a girl named Rosa and how she wants to do good in the skating competition. The book also features how Rosa has a crush on someone, how she has a long distance friendship, and how she meets friends at her new state she lives in. In conclusion, i would recommend this book and give it five out of five stars.
truely a candy apple book!!!!!!!!!i loved rosa.(i actually resemble meena!!!!!) seriously but i was'nt able to decide whether jacqui was the real villian of the book because in the end she seemed nice... i actually wonder if they make a film on it which actor they are gonna show for anton(i mean he's described in the book nearly as edward cullen id described in twilght)
Rosa Hernandez has always loved figure skating, so when her mom's job transfer's the family to Chicago she's ready to bring it on! Training at the top rink in town seems like the perfect way to make new friends-that is, until Rosa meets the reigning superstar, Jacqueline (Jacqui for short) who's an Ice Queen in more ways then one. With a citywide competition only a few weeks away, what will Rosa do to make her ice dreams come true?
Lisa Papademetriou, you are my comfort author. So many emotions and maturity for a middle grade book. Beautiful and natural interweaving of Hispanic culture, racially diverse friends and a heroine with a kind, responsible nature. I adored it.
The book is called Ice Dreams, by Lisa Paademetriou. It is about a Spanish girl, Rosa Hernandez, who moved from Florida to Chicago because her mother got transferred. Rosa has a dream to be a great figure skater. In the exposition, Rosa, her little sister, Amelia, and her mom is at the lace where their mother works. Both kids need a nice haircut for their first day at a new school. In the rising action, Rosa irritates Jacqui at school. When Rosa came for figure skating class, Ms. O'Malley, the figure skating teacher, wanted Rosa to show the class what she was working on. Jacqui became jealous. Everyone thinks that Rosa should try out the skating competition. The climax was when Rosa does her free skating in the competition. She didn't do the axel right and fell to the floor, but she got up and kept skating. Everyone Rosa knows except Anton thought that ever after her fall, she danced extremely good. The falling action was when Rosa and her friends found out that she was third place and Jacqui was first place. In the resolution, Rosa sees that ever if she didn't get first place, she had a better prize, having real friends.
