The Fabergé Easter Egg

Rate this book

“Looking for clean, funny, cozy mysteries that will make you laugh out loud? The Parker Bell Cozy Mystery series will keep you guessing until the end, you’ll love Sharon E. Buck cozy mysteries!”

The Fabergé Easter Egg is third in the Parker Bell Cozy Mystery Series.

Parker Bell is being yanked back to Po’thole once again. This time she’s involved in an international mystery surrounding a Fabergé Easter Egg and a Russian billionaire.

-------------

Snowbirds Anne and Chauncey Livingstone aka Tsar Chauncey and Tsarina Anne winter in Po’thole, pronounced Po Ho by the natives and Pot Hole by anyone north of the Georgia state line, from the frigid tundra north (Maine). They have a Fabergé egg. Is it real or is it a fake? What does Russian billionaire Anatoly Petrov have to do with it?

Bestselling author and computer company owner Parker Bell is back in her hometown for international mystery, intrigue, and, of course, Po’thole’s own brand of craziness with the Lady Gatorettes – Misty Dawn, Mary Jane, Rhonda Jean, Flo, and Myrtle Sue - five hormonal caffeine-and-sugar infused women who are die-hard University of Florida football fans.

Why are the Russians so intent on trying to kidnap or kill everyone over the Fabergé Easter egg? Why in Po’thole of all places?

A hilarious romp with crazy characters and believable enough that it might be true. The Fabergé Easter Egg is the 3rd book in the Parker Bell Cozy Mystery series.

“Another hilarious book of Parker Bell and her antics! We all know people like her characters.” ~ Teena Hamilton, cozy mystery fan

I laughed so hard my cat fell off the bed. Love, love, love Parker and the Lady Gatorettes! Can’t wait for the next one.” Julie Zommers, Australia.

The Parker Bell Cozy Mystery Series contains no foul language, only humor and funny, crazy characters you just might know in your hometown. Just clean, cozy mysteries!"

The story was pretty entertaining in an over-the-top silly way, but this book had one of my pet authorial peeves: a major character who is clearly in the wrong timeline. The book was written in 2018 and there's nothing indicating it takes place prior to that date, but judging from her backstory, Princess Mathilde would have had to have been born around the turn of the 20th century. There's no mention made of her being well over 100. What's more, her son would have to have been born in the 1920s or possibly, at the latest, 1930s. How is he still employed by British intelligence if he's in his 80s or 90s? Discrepancies like this make no sense and I find them quite irritating. Simple math, performed somewhere during the editing process, should have taken care of this. If necessary, have the living character acting on behalf of her mother or grandmother. Just don't expect time to be sufficiently elastic that a character born well over a century ago could be merely elderly rather than record-settingly ancient unless you're writing fantasy or science fiction.

Also, Cuban isn't a language. The primary language spoken in that country is Spanish, so it's redundant to claim that Anne is fluent in both Spanish and Cuban. These are widely known facts, so not difficult to check, and yes, such blatant errors do detract from a story.

More excitement in Po Ho

Parker is back in her hometown again and there is more excitement than ever. There are lots of comical moments in with the non stop excitement and anything can happen when the Lady Gatorettes are around. I can't wait to see what this group gets into next but somehow things always work out.
