This story was pretty unexpected. Soleia is a strong character with her own journey that is laced with struggles. She is full of flaws but headstrong nonetheless. Somehow, I found her to be a bit annoying. Maybe she's supposed to be that and if that is the case, well, mission accomplished. She has a secret of her own and is always on the edge to protect it. She leaves her home to escape family traditions and expectations but things take a turn in the wrong direction and she must return. There is also a dragon shifter who is somehow bound to Soleia after she accidentally releases him. He was confined for half a century before being set free. The bickering and banter between the two main characters made me laugh. Actually, their conversations are usually hilarious, which keeps the seriousness of the matter toned down a notch.

I liked the world building. The book was fast paced complete with action, adventure and thrill set in a dangerous fantastical land. Anyone looking for a slow burn enemies to lovers clean romance with a happily ever after should give it a chance.

Curse of the Dragon Heir is a fast-paced fantasy story featuring dragons and witches. The two main characters are annoying; I can say this because they say this to each other every chapter. Both lacked character depth, and the personalities needed to be fully developed. I enjoyed the unique world-building and plot, but the characters made this one fall short.

Thank you, S.R. Breaker, and Zeta Indie Publishing, for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

Having won a copy of this book few months back from the author I knew that I wanted to save it for my summer reading, as it fills one of the categories I know that I sometimes struggle with reading. I really needn't of worried as i was instantly drawn in from the first page and eagerly devoured it in one sitting (I actually finished it last night as I couldn't put it down). Never having read anything by this author before I didn't know what to expect but was wonderfully surprised by the beautiful story that she had crafted, along with the action and humor that was threaded throughout making this a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I immediately loved Soleia, a fae mage who is impulsive and fearless which can sometimes border on recklessness, and although she doesn't have the responsibilities that her older sister does, she does have a secret. Being the second born in a prestigious family there are still certain expectations that are required of her, which involves her extremely powerful magic. Magic that she has been lying about for all of her life. So when it's time to demonstrate said power to everyone in the village, all she can think of is running. Which of course is where her problems really begin. After discovering a demon impaled to a tree, she accidentally frees him while fighting off a wraith (see what I mean about the reckless part). Of course finding herself being bound to the demon by an elder it's a complication she doesn't want but absolutely needs. The banter between her and Dathon was priceless and had me chuckling out loud on more than one occasion, and watching her grow as a person made me love her even more.

Dathon was an instant intriguing character to me, as I just knew there'd be more to him than meets the eye (yep you guessed it he has a secret too). A demon impaled to a tree for the last half a century, he awakens when Soleia is fighting a wraith and pulls the sword from his chest. Although he is powerful making quick work of the creature Soleia is fighting, he finds himself trading one prison for another when he's bound to her instead. Dathon is a very complex character as just when you think you know what he's going to do, he surprises you and does the unexpected. Yes he's not happy with his situation and he'll use every trick in the book to try to get what he wants, but he also has another side, one which literally made me melt when he exposes it. Simply put, i couldn't help but adore him.

This was a fast paced read that I really enjoyed sinking my teeth into, and I'll definitely be reading more by this author. I've also realised that a genre that I wasn't always drawn to, is maybe one I'm just starting to fall in love with. Highly recommend 😁

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fast read for me.

I think we saw just a fragment of the world created by the author. But never the less it is very rich, fun and dangerous.

The paranormal element is what i hoped it will be and more. It builds up throughout the book and we learn so much more.

I was hooked from the very first few pages and i couldn't stop reading.

Soleia is one very good female protagonist who i appreciated that it is made into a strong individual but with flaws.

For me the secondary characters could have been maybe less but more developed but since this is a first book i guess this will happen later on.

As for the romance i liked how the relationship developed but i did want a little more steamy scenes maybe.
I received an advance review copy for free from BoookSirens, but all of the opinions are my own.

Was provided an ARC for an honest review.

Absolutely loved it. The banter between the main characters is amazing. The building of Soleia during the story is amazing. You can feel her becoming herself and you can relate to her struggles. Dathon is wonderful, he was my favorite from the beginning. The way Soleia and Dathon interact kept me from wanting to put the book down the banter and tension was wonderful.

Definitely recommend.

Dragons. Magic. Portals.
What could go wrong?
Oh man, so many things. However, when Soleia comes across the "demon" in the forest, little does she know this demon will turn out to be more than she bargained for. More than she ever thought was possible. She learns to work and control her magic and help save those most important to her. And find love along the way.

Whew. What a awesome ride! This gave me the same feelings I get when I read a fun rom-com, BUT it was in a fantasy land with fae, magic, and.... DRAGONS! What more could a girl ask for?!

✔️ Fae + Dragon Shifter
✔️ Slow-burn
✔️ Enemies-to-lovers
✔️ Closed-door Fantasy Romance.

𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝. "𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐭."

I'll start with my complains, and trust me, these are not really big complains. I don't really understand the magic system. It didn't bother me as I was reading, but I would have liked more back story on it. The world building could have been better. Now, with that out of the way....

𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐢𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞. "𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 '𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞' 𝐡𝐢𝐦. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐢𝐦."

I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was just so much fun, I loved the chemistry between Soleia and Dathon. It's slow bun, and closed door. So it's perfect for people who like romance but don't like reading spicy parts. I thought the enemies-to-lovers trope was done nicely. I want more, I want to learn more about Soleia and I want more of Dathon. I was today years old when I learned I have a thing for hot Dragon Shifters. 😏

This book was the perfect way to end September with. It was fun and fast paced, I literally could have finished it in an evening... But I forced myself to go to bed. LOL

This is my review that I posted on the Realm of Darkness boxset - thanks for the ARC!

I want a dragon demon!!!
AND a portal to take me away from any trouble I cause.
This is my review that I posted on the Realms of Darkness boxset - thanks for the ARC!

Not an enemies-to-lovers romance - OMG they fight like siblings!
Believe you me…Soleia and Dathon fight just like my brother & me…and my boy cousins & me…and my boy neighbors & me and my cousins’ boy neighbors & me...

This is chock full of fantasy elements - betrayal, a curse, duty, family issues, hunters, magic, a quest, etc.

Soleia’s got some ego – and well-earned.
“You fight dirty.”
“I fight well,” she corrected.
You go, gurl!

I’ve read other works by this author and will continue to do so.

This book was incredible. This book was really beautiful, so masterfully crafted I felt as carefree as a child, wanting to skip and hop in delight.

Soleia is disheartened and disillusioned, she doesn't want to be part of, what she calls, backward traditions. As second born of a prominent family, she might not have the duty as her elder sister does but she feels stifled and terrified her secret will come out. She didn't want the responsibility that came with her status. She wants to run, as far as she can, because, well, she has little to no magical power or skill. Instead, she encounters a very handsome, very human looking, demon impaled to a tree and that's when things start getting very... interesting for Soleia. Although there's nothing comical about a bit strong demon who devourers wraiths like there's candy, the banter is definitely humourous. This is a signature of this author, she entwines the comedy through her story, the bickering between characters an art form, which, needless to say, is giggle central to me.

This author's characters are spiffing, she enchants me with their uniqueness, while at the same time makes me feel as though I've known them forever. And can I just say how much I adore them? Oh frek and flipping heck so very very much! Dalthon set my heart racing even when I thought he was a mere demon, which he's not btw. His....ummmm... stance with Soreia, though, as I mentioned comical, blew me out of the water, Ms Breaker blew me out of the water with her unique skill of convoluted genius. The contradiction of Dalthon, what he is, who he is, how he is, was spun as complexly as a Rubik cube. But the more I got to know him, the more my heart melted and when he said "I'm offering you my heart", well that was me, finished! As for Soleia, she'd been kept from truths her entire life, she felt lesser, an outcast. It took a demon to unlock the truth, to open her eyes to her capabilities and let me tell you, she freaking soared! Seeing everything finally click for her, accepting who she was, that running away was not the answer, flipping hell was that amazing! When she uttered these words, my heart swelled with pride at her growth, "I feel whole with you"

But the way Ms Breaker moves the story, the listing back and forth, the spinning of strands barely visible, the imbuing of action with misconception, drawing that fine line between love and hate, filling my soul with angst and joy, my word am I flying high right now! With one complete series I've already devoured by this author, she has me captured!

I found this to be quite an enticing story. The author created some fabulous characters and has a plot that will keep you turning pages. This story has 2 of my favorite things fae & dragons. This was my first book from this authoe and all I can say is can't wait for book 2.
Soleia lives in the Clan of Fae Priori and is expected to use her magic to protect her people as a member of a high mage family. The problem is she can't wield her magic and is lucky if she can even produce a spark.. All she wants to do is escape her fate because it will bring shame to her, her family and clan when her secret is revealed. Soleia’s first attempt to escape finds her in the forbidden part of the forest where she is surprised when finds a demon tied to a tree. The next surprise is her grandmother’s arrival and refusal to explain what is going on. The village was terrified at the destruction he could cause. For some reason he became attached to Soleia . At first the pair despised each other and wanted nothing more then to destry each other. But as Soleia learned about this evil demon, who was quite nice to look at Soleia thought, she realized he wasn't a demon at all. He was a dragon. Her people disliked dragons as well due to the terrorizing they caused to villages but as Soleia traveled with him, he did seem to be helping her with her magic but then they met up with other dragons and soon the carnage began. There was destruction going on but it wasn't the one who was accused. Her grandmother had been wrong and now Soleia must learn how to wield and use her power with the help of the dragon if she was going to save the ones she loved.
An excellent read and I will definitely continue with this series.

Read if you enjoy:
🐉Dragons, Fae & Magic
🐉Slow Burn Enemies to Lovers
🐉Closed Door Romance

This story follows, Soleia, the second born in a high fae family of mages. She has spent her life trying to hide her lack of magic from her family. While trying to leave the village before the ceremony where she is to demonstrate her portal summoning magic, which she does not have, she accidentally frees a demon, Dathon, from a 50-year-old curse. To keep Dathon from destroying the village, her grandmother binds him to Soleia. From here we follow Soleia as she tries to harness her magic and keep Dathon under control.

This was a really fun fantasy read. There was really good tension and witty banter between Soleia and Dathon. They are also both quite grumpy, often having trivial and comical arguments as they try to one-up each other. It was very story-driven, and the story flowed quickly. I really enjoyed the battle scenes and the adventure.

This is a great read if you are looking for a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers story filled with magic, suspense-filled adventure, and epic battles.

Thank you S.R Breaker and Booksirens, I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this, it was a quick read and I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in one sitting.

In this book we were given a peak into the world that the author has created, the whole time I was craving more. I hope we get to see this in the rest of the series, otherwise it feels slightly disappointing.

The plot was fast paced and enjoyable, and the way the main characters bounded off each other way entertaining. My one critique is that an few elements lacked depth. I felt that I was missing depth from the characters and some of the world building. Many fantasy books have different ideas of different things, so I wish that there was a bit more descriptions on the magic, the dragons and the fae. Also, I couldn’t quite picture the style of clothing that the characters were wearing, would love some more description.

All in all, a really enjoyable read and I look forward to later books in the series.

This was such a unique fantasy read! It was fast-paced, funny, and surprising! To me, it did not have the traditional 100+ pages of word-building that we often see in other fantasy books. Rather, the story starts from page one. I really enjoyed the fast pace, but also struggled to envision some things. I read this book in one afternoon because I was very quickly hooked on the main characters and invested in finding out how their story played out.

I am really looking forward to the second book in the series!

This was a very good book! Kept me entertained from the beginning to the end. Well written and beautiful world building!

I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to add spoilers, but you should definitely give this book a read if you are thinking about it! It will be worth your time!

Enemies to lovers, a little grumpy and grumpy, forced proximity and secret royalty, if you enjoy any of these things, oh, and dragons, read this book! :)

There were some scenes of PG level romance-y stuff, but not what I would really call “spice”.

I would also like to thank S.R. Breaker for the opportunity to read and review her book!

Curse of the Dragon Heir by SR Breaker is a great fantasy read for all ages. It has romance but no spice, so it is great for a teen to read, but also enjoyable for adults. The author has built this fantasy world and it comes alive on the pages as you read it.

Soleia just wants to escape her family obligations, but while trying to run away, she accidentally releases a danger demon back into her realm. He is bound to her by her grandmother to protect their village and when the village is attacked, she finds herself far from home with this demon, but all is not as it seems. Now, she will do anything to get back to her family and must learn to work with her demon to find her way back.

Soleia and Dathon are hilarious and I really enjoyed the progression of their relationship. They reminded me of a grumpy old married couple with the way that they bickered and insulted each other. Their banter was refreshing for an enemies to lovers trope. I do with the story was a bit longer and more developed, but maybe we will get some more depth in the second installment. Overall, it was a good fantasy read and ends with a HEA, but also open ended as well so you can enjoy the anticipation of the sequel.

Sometimes the best solution to a problem is to just walk away and forget it; or is it to face it head on? Soleia can’t seem to make up her mind if she wants to stay or run. I like the fact that when she does finally decide on something, she gives it 100 percent. Misunderstandings, secrets, action and fears keep the story interesting. I enjoyed this book very much.

Wow

This stunning story follows Soleia, a strong-willed sassy fae warrior and mage and her journey across the continent with a very broody evil demon Dathon that she accidentally set free.

This is an Enemies to lovers, fantasy that's perfect for any age, it did not have any spice but was a slow burn romance and boy did I love it. I felt so connected to the characters and the world. I could not put it down! I can't wait to check out more books from this talented author!

I absolutely adored these characters, the world, and the tropes in this book! I'm definitely excited for book 2... S.R does this beautiful balance between some amazing foreshadowing that wasnt so obvious as to spoil the whole ending which is something I havent experienced in a while.

The only way to boost this a bit higher would be to have more time lapse in the story line, it emotionally moved a bit too quickly for me.

Let me just say, all I kept thinking about for half the book were the similarities to Inuyasha with the whole being sealed to a tree, the magic necklace, the power word, and the lovers tricked into hating each other themes. It was an ok read, but did not pull me in and I don’t particularly have any interest in continuing the series. For me, it lacked depth in the characters and their relationship.

Interesting Start

This was a very interesting introduction to the world of Arcadia. Very good world building. The story was good and captivating. But I did have a difficult time connecting with the FMC. However, the last quarter to half the book, I was able to connect with her more. It was a quick, fun fantasy read

Oh my goodness, this book was SO SO SO GOOD! I finished it in less than a day because it just kept me so drawn in. While there were some character flaws that I didn't love, I really really enjoyed the book as a whole. It was epic, and had wonderful fight scenes, while also having an intriguing romance plot. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book!

This book had some scenes more hot and heavy than necessary in my opinion, however it definitely fits within the fade to black level. That said, it has a great plot that kept the story interesting. I also couldn't always guess what would happen next, which I loved. The premise is definitely a fun one that makes the book one that is worth giving a shot!

I enjoyed the story quite a bit. However, there were a few times when the POV slipped and described how Soleia's eyes looked... when we were supposed to be in her head. Things like that, where we glimpsed his POV for a line or two, pulled me out of the story. Good enough for me to continue with the series, though.
