In Soul Signs , bestselling author, spiritual medium, and healer Rosemary Altea introduces a fascinating system of soul typing that reveals the dynamics of attraction.
Which energy group do you belong to--the strategic and grounded earth signs, passive and charming air signs, compromising yet unstoppable water signs, the ever-changing emotional fire signs, or the destructive dark sign, sulfur? Are you a strong-willed, emotionally driven, perfectionist Retrospective soul? A vivacious, radiant, quick-witted Bright Star soul? A thrill-seeking, romantic but fickle Traveler soul? What about your mate? Once readers learn the science behind soul typing, they will enjoy "typing" their friends, family, and even celebrities to better understand why some people seem so happy, others at war with themselves, and--the most fun--who belongs together.
Soul Signs is one of those books that quietly pulls you in with its mix of spirituality, self-reflection, and practical insight. Rosemary Altea doesn’t just describe personality traits she offers an entire framework for understanding the energy behind who we are and why we connect (or clash) with others.
What stood out most was how clear and intuitive her explanations are. The elemental groups earth, air, water, fire, and sulfur each feel distinct, and I found myself instantly identifying not just my own type but the people around me. The soul sub-types, like the Retrospective and the Bright Star, add even more depth and make the book feel both fun and eye-opening.
One of the strengths of this book is how it encourages compassion. When you understand how someone’s energy moves through the world, their choices and reactions start to make more sense. It’s the kind of book that deepens your self-awareness but also softens the way you see others.
Whether or not readers believe in spiritual frameworks, the reflections in this book offer value especially for those who enjoy personality systems, astrology, or energy-based insights. It’s engaging, thoughtful, and surprisingly grounding.
A fascinating, uplifting guide for anyone curious about the unseen forces that shape our connections.
Imagine if you could circumvent misunderstandings by reading a book. Or manage to find that secret communication code that helped you frame your message in the best way it would be received by someone. Imagine further you knowing what makes someone tick, maybe even better than they know themselves. All these things are possible after reading and applying the knowledge found within.
OK, I admit I totally got sucked into this book. I bought it as a birthday present for my mother, who is into wiccan/occult/new age stuff. I actually bought it as a *mistake*, thinking that Rosemary Altea is an author my mother likes, although she's never heard of her. Before I wrapped the book, I sort of flipped through the pages wondering, "What is this stupid thing about anyway?" Fast-forward six hours, and I was tired, achy, working on a sunburn, having sat on the front stoop of the house devouring the thing. What's it about? Think Dan Brown readability meets the 12 zodiac signs of the horoscope meets Jung's sixteen personality types meets some peony or pansies or whatever Victorian fairy flower Altea throws in by way of bad poetry for a structure, and you about have it. I don't believe a word the book says, but it should count for my book pledge at least. My mother liked it.
I first heard of Rosemary on Coast to Coast AM and apparently she has a spirit guide who helps her direct her gift of seeing & talking to the dead. I haven't read the book about him yet, but he told her about the 13 types of souls there are in the world so she wrote a book about them. It was interesting enough and I found out what my Soul Sign is. Basically, there are different ways our energies flow and fundamental differences we each have that affect how we deal with the our lives and each other. It was an interesting read.
Started out strong, lots of really good, relateable information. I started to get a bit turned off by the chapter on pet souls. Not that I don't believe in animals having souls, but I just found it was dragged out a bit more than was needed. Overall, very interesting, worth a read if you are interested in that subject matter.
horoscopes for a new generation, perhaps? . . . yes, the author communes with a dead, native american medicine man and talks a lot about daffodils . . . but there are some nuggets to take away . . . and it's still fun
I found this book extremely confusing. I understand where Altea is coming from, but trying to zero in on your particular soul sign, or that of your loved ones, is not easy according to the directions she sets out here. I expected more.
This book is intriguing. It gives you the tools to type yourself and your family and friends; it explains a lot about why people are the way they are and how you can improve your life and your relationships with others.
This book was ok. I think I would have liked it more if I knew more about the women who wrote it. I have a hard time believing in what she says since I have never read any of her other books. But it was interesting none the less.
⬆️That was reviewed in 2011...10 years later I think I'm water. What that ultimately means is- I don't really know if the SOUL SIGNS resonate with me. I'll keep trying to figure it out though.
This book was alright....I thought it was pretty wordy and after reading the entire thing I still don't think I had a good understanding of myself or my own soul sign. Confusing, but maybe that's just me...my partner's soul sign was really apparent.
