Explicit Adult Content. An enticing new-comer has arrived in King Jereth’s court. Moors has invented electricity in the Middle Ages, and has quite a high opinion of his accomplishment. When he’s installed as the kingdom’s Royal Alchemist he begins to make outrageous demands, and then throws tantrums when those demands aren’t met.

King Jereth is amused with the attractive upstart at first, but then finds his spoiled attitude tedious. No matter how brilliant the man is Jereth will not tolerate disrespect. When Moors accidentally hits Jereth’s bottom with a sharp piece of metal he reaches his limit. Moors is thrown over his knee and spanked.

Despite being spurred by anger, the act has an unusual effect on both king and vassal. It gave Jereth a thrill he didn’t expect, and Moors became subdued and aroused.

A most unconventional romance has begun!

Royal Pain is a two part illustrated yaoi novella featuring popular characters from the bestselling Dark Prince graphic novel series by Yamila Abraham and M.A. Sambre.

This two part series of graphic novels comes from the one who brought us Dark Prince, and this story carries on from that extensive series where Prince Davon spent his time wooing and killing boys whose names started with the letter 'A.' King Jereth features in this new first part as well as another popular character from the original series, Prince Davon.

Readers take note that it would be easier and much more fun to read the Dark Prince chapters on the Yaoi Press website. In that way they would get an idea of what the story is about, and if you've already read the previous series, read it again - it's fun and steamy.

After the terrible story of Prince Davon's cruelty and ravenous sexual appetite, King Jereth sees a new boy enter his court, Moors who has invented something quite amazing and wishes to have it used at his new benefactor's whim. This makes him a very popular part of the court, but he shouldn't get too cocky as Jereth soon realises he must be sure who his master is, and who he is servant to. As is usual in these manga, he doesn't and feels the wrath of King Jereth who gives him a good, hard spanking where it counts.

Little does he know the latent sexuality that bubbles within him at this act - which leads to a very strange and loving romance.

Like Dark Prince, this series is an enjoyable continuation of an already popular bunch of yaoi novels - it's just that these deal with spanking.

Never has fetishism been so much fun! This manga is all that and more, Royal Pain gives the reader what they want in more ways than one in this medieval drama, and let's face it, everyone loves sequels.

Finally something new from Yamila Abraham after Incubus Master. I was jonsing! I actually was already familiar with this story a little from the Dark Prince manga but this version is more detailed and different. It really goes into more of a fetishy realm, but the way it comes about is really natural and works with the story. I love Moors character! He's so feisty. The way Jereth is pwning him is just awesome! The spanking was hot in both scenes and i'm glad we got some ahem satisfaction to go with it too. The story left off at a critical point. I want to no whats going to happen!! This was listed as 1 of 2 on Yaoi Prose so the second part should finish this. I seriously want to read it!!! This is awesome. I'm still getting a great story every time from this writer.

I’m going to be brutally honest here: this book is trash. Not the good kind of trash; not even the trash it was intended to be. The writing itself is just garbage. You can find better fanfiction for free online, so don’t waste your time or money here.

This was the first (and, trust me, last) book I’ve read of Yamila Abraham’s. I’ve long avoided her work because when yaoi was finally gaining a presence in the West in the early 2000s, the market quickly became oversaturated with her books. The art always looked atrocious (which, while not her doing, hinted at the quality of the writing that must accompany the poor quality of the drawings) so I steered clear. I actually bought “Royal Pain” by accident. I purchased a lot of legit Japanese yaoi manga from eBay and this book was slipped into the stack without the author’s name appearing in the listing.

From the start, the book was terrible. The author is writing about topics she very obviously knows nothing about. For example, she refers to the king as both “highness” and “majesty.” Highness is a term reserved for members of the royal family who are NOT ruling monarchs themselves; majesty is the correct address for kings and queens. This is not uncommon knowledge. Additionally, the alleged protagonist of “Royal Pain” is supposedly an alchemist. He is frantically trying to work on some invention but the reason for his hurry is never explained, nor is his actual project ever detailed. The only purpose in his having a profession is for him to demand alchemy materials which the king refuses to supply, causing them to butt heads which inevitably lands them in bed together. It’s just shoddy writing from start to finish.

It is clear no one edited the book. There are countless typos, grammatical errors, and even misspellings of her own main character’s name. She abuses the same phrasings repeatedly and frequently uses words that do not mean what she thinks they mean. For example, she describes her protagonist as pale and fair-skinned, but also calls him tawny. Tawny is the literal opposite of pale and fair-skinned!

Yamila’s characters have no development or personality. They behave erratically. This could be forgiven if her entire purpose was to compose well-written love scenes with no actual plot, but unfortunately her writing is terrible.

A sexy little story without much plot, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Moors come to serve a new king as an alchemist. In actuality, he's found a way to channel electricity but requires a lot of copper. When he doesn't feel the king is taking him or his work seriously enough, he lashes out. The king reminds him of his place. Essentially a spanking story. But the price is cheap for a cheap thrill. Recommended to yaoi fans.

Yamila's prose stories feel like a train wreck to me so far. You know what's gonna happen. You know it's bad. And yet you can't stop looking.
