Some great angst, but this revenge story really didn't need the extra 100 pages to be told. The H/h were engaged five years before. The heroine's evil step-sister convinced the heroine he was cheating with her and the heroine broke off the engagement without explaining why. The next day the hero was arrested for theft/fraud/accounting errors at the heroine's father's company.
The hero went to jail and in his mind he equated his jilting with the false charges, thinking the heroine was in on it, even though the heroine's father always treated her like dirt. The company where the hero worked was full of relatives so anyone of them could have set him up.
LG adds in the wrinkle that the hero loaned the heroine's maternal grandparents money so they could continue to live in the family castle/hovel in Ireland. They haven't paid anything toward the loan for four years, so the hero will be able to evict them and take over the castle as revenge.
The heroine has been living with them and trying to make the castle profitable. She's also still a virgin and genuinely thought the hero had betrayed her with her step-sister and was a thief.
She never really gets over the mistrust (that comes from her poor self-esteem) and that's where it started to get tedious. The hero had every right to be angry at her and her family, since there was a serious miscarriage of justice done. But the heroine hangs on to the baddie relative until the bitter end - just because? I saw no redeeming value in their relationship, so the heroine's black moment was foolish in the extreme and knocked a star off the rating.
The heroine's relationship with the sisters from the Harlequin series never really jelled. They do a lot of talking on the phone, but the reader doesn't see any of that on the page. There were some threads that trailed off into nothing - the stepsister really doesn't get much of a comeuppance. The PA was a potential OW and then? Same with the Italian model.
So tighter editing would have helped keep up the high emotions, I think. Still, it was an enjoyable story.
Hero was celibate during their entire separation. The OWs were all red herrings and the hero never really even thought about them.

There's so much going on from things I loved to things I hated and all the in-between.
Had I been in Luciano's place blood wouldn't have been enough, so for him being an HP alpha-hero he wasn't as ass-hole/jerk/bastard as others I've read, even though he had really good reasons to be so. On the contrary, I think he was too nice for man set on revenge.
I'm not sure if I liked Kerry's character because her complete distrust in the man she supposedly loved left a bad taste for me. I understood her insecurities, I mean of all the women in the world he had to sleep with Rochelle the evil step sister (even though he hadn't met the h yet and he was drunk, he did spend a weekend with Rochelle), then the working together and Rochelle devious flirting, yes I'm sure it can get on your nerves and then the supposed infidelity. BUT it wasn't excuse enough for her not communicating at all with him after the arrest, specially with the loan and all that going on.
The crazy grandparents and crying ghost were nice touches.
I adored the interfering sisters and the consequent animosity the H had for them.
I also would have liked Kerry to get interested in her true father, maybe she had more siblings or a super rich daddy.
Also, what with Constanza? At first it sounded like she had the hots for Luciano, then sounded like a spurned lover but in the and like a mother hen. Jummm.

This hero is a young man who has risen up from poverty on his way to become a tycoon. He is also hopelessly in love with our heroine, his sweet fiance. But he gets set up and is sentenced to five years for embezzling funds. After serving his prison term, he is a free man and he wants revenge with a passion. Part of his revenge is to reclaim the fiance that so cruelly abandoned him right before his arrest.
Luciano is an alpha hero through and through and that means he is obsessive, possessive and dark. But I never felt he was cruel. I guess I could sympathize with him cause he lost 5 years of his life for a sin he didn't commit and he thought his fiance knew all about his setup and was an accomplice. Kerry on the other hand is a very warm, kind young woman who never got over Luciano. Her evil stepsister Rochelle and her stepbrother Miles are both obnoxious but I enjoyed Kerry's interaction with her sisters. LOVED the story line and all the angst!

This was an amazing ending to the sister books of LG that I loved so much. My favourite will always be the disobedient mistress and an Arabian marriage! Those were amazing stories. This one is a close second. I loved the whole thing about him being to jail and I loved how honest he tried to be with his feelings of betrayal. She was smart and sassy and that's a good thing cause he was not in a forgiving mood most of this book.

So I realized I'd never finished this little sisters series. This one was about 100 pages longer than an HP. But like another reviewer said it didn't really take advantage of the extra pages. It really just gave me time to dislike the heroine more. I really disliked her which is rare for me in Harlequinlandia. She was so stupid. I would have liked her a lot better if she had visited him in prison. She breaks up with him on the say so of her evil stepsister who she KNOWS wants her fiance and who has always hated her. What's up with all these heroines who never just go to the guy she thinks is cheating on her and say "WTH?" So leaving that aside I'd a thought she could have thought Oh no! He cheated on me but I still love him and he's in trouble! I'll at least check in." And then to have the audacity 5 years later to be pissed that he'd never reached out to her while he was in jail after having been dumped and ignored with no explanations? What the hell was he thinking to take her back at all? This is one instance where the hero really should have slept with her for revenge and to get what she'd refused to give him 5 years ago and then dumped her ass.
But then blah blah blah they loved each other and made it through that. The sister reunion was lame. The story with the castle was underwhelming. Where was his eventual learning about and appreciation of the business plan that really was an interesting element? That was weird that the author left it out. She sure had time to put it in.
Worst of all though is the situation with Miles. She needed to explain why she cared for Miles and that he had been the only one who had treated her well growing up. And he needed to take that into account and try to ease her into the suspicions that he had. Mostly though and this is the big one she needed to remember the forsaking all others part of the wedding vows. This was not a hero who was trying to shut off all her access to friends and family as abusers sometimes do. This was a man who had been unjustly put in jail. Who she knew blamed her hateful family. Who she knew had never really been loved by his family. Who she had already done wrong over the breaking of the engagement. Who was begging her not to go see Miles. Who was begging her to put him first and she went anyway. Bitch. I hated her. And out of the clear blue sky the author has her say "I was trying not to be a doormat" Had she been acting like a doormat at all throughout the book? Had this idea ever come up at all? Nope, Nope Nopity nope.
I'm giving this one star for the hero who somehow managed to love this *&^$* chick. He deserved better.

This is the book where the hero deserved better and the heroine is the evil one. Not really evil but too stupid to live, too stupid even for the hero. The hero spent years in prison because he was set up. The heroine left him because she believed her step sister's lies and thought he was cheating on her. They were engaged and she didn't even give him the benefit of doubt. So when he's free he plans revenge on her. Actually he wants her back, he never got over her and he plans to get his revenge on her making her his mistress. The heroine was stupid and remains stupid. She never apologizes for believing her evil ss. The hero calls the evil ss and asks her in front of the heroine if it's true what she said to the heroine and she says it's not. Still the heroine doesn't trust the hero. This poor guy is so entranced by her (I really don't know why at this point) and hopes to keep her as his mistress but he's the most unlucky hero I've ever seen because just when he thinks he has her, she finds out she has three sisters who are very protective and whose husbands are all very rich and powerful men and the happy group wants only to save her from that evil man. They wants to financially ruin him, to introduce her to young handsome rich men, to separate her from the hero. This poor guy (now I'm really starting to pity him) feels threatened and marries her in haste before someone come and get her like the previous time. We all hope it's over but it's not. Because when it comes to loyalty the heroine chooses her evil stepbrother and then is where I give up on her and when the hero tells her he doesn't want her any more I hope he's serious. But no, he's in love with her and she's pregnant. The little fool has her happy and undeserved ending.

Dramatic,angsty and a relatively good romance book. At times I felt heroine was stupid for the decision she took but enjoyed the twists and turns in the book.
Liked the hero very much.

I just read this again and I am not sure why I gave it four stars because Luciano was kind of an ass. He treated the heroine pretty badly. I didn't really like him that much and all those women waiting for him in the house asking him to choose which one he wanted? That was just sick. Also him thinking about marrying the other woman? it was just wrong. I know t all worked out in the end but just getting there wasn't really a four star read. More like a three but I am not going to change it. Maybe it's just me tonight but I think I am just over romances right now.
He spends five years in prison for something he didn't do and the hero has loved him all along. They go though some bumps due to her nasty family and then there is an HEA with a marriage and a baby.
I just have no words right now for some reason. I think I might be romanced out.

I think this is the one in which she has the dogs. In fact LG heroines always have these temperamental dogs. No?

This is the story of the long lost sister, Kerry Linwood, and the last book of the series.
She was adopted by the wealthy Linwood family as an infant.
The sisters from the previous books make an appearance along with their billionaire tycoon husbands, and children.
Luciano de Valenza rescued the Linwood's failing wine business five years ago.
In the process he fell in love with Kerry Linwood.
Just when everything seemed to be perfect, Luciano's life fell apart.
Kerry's step-sister Rochelle told her Luciano had slept with her.
To make matters worse, money was embezzled from the business and Luciano was convicted and imprisoned.
Luciano has risen up from poverty with a single mom, the label as a bastard child, and was never accepted by his father.
For him, the saddest part was Kerry believed he was guilty of embezzlement and .... sleeping with her step-sister.
Fast forwarded to the present time,
Luciano has just been released from prison where he spent five years serving time for a crime he didn't commit.
Now that he is free, his thoughts have turned to revenge, he is back to wreak havoc on those responsible for his arrest, and to clear his name in a crime he swears he did not commit.
For starters, he plans to take everything that belongs to the Linwood's - who he believed framed him -
including Ballybawn Castle, and already made a jump start destroying the Linwood wine business while in prison -
then to the youngest daughter, who dumped him the day before he was arrested.
He would have never believed Kerry could have been a part of the plot to frame him, but why else would she tell him she couldn't marry him, the day before he's arrested?
So that leaves us as to where poor, naïve Kerry stands in all this.
Luciano wants her, of course, but swears all he is doing is purging his system of whatever leftover feelings he had for her.
Kerry has just learned that her grandfather took a loan from Luciano several years before, that hasn't been paid.
In an attempt to save her family home, she goes to London to see Luciano and try to reason with him.
She is unprepared for his loathing of her or..... for the desire she feels for him.
Enter the evil stepsister Rochelle, dear old dad Harold Linwood, and one must wonder if Kerry will ever have any self-respect after the games they play with her life.
The only family member who seems to genuinely care at all for Kerry is stepbrother Miles, and even he leaves us wondering at times.
Luciano is an über-alpha, he is arrogant as heck, but very possessive of his woman.
He did act like a jerk initially, but 5 years of prison - it kind of changes a person and he could have turned out a lot worst.
In addition, he truly felt that Kerry may have known about his setup many years ago since her breakup with him was timed so perfectly.
But after a few days of being together again, the chemistry and the feelings comes flooding back for the both of them.
Their spending time together leads to the fulfilment of Luciano and Kerry's dream: their marriage.
But then, Luciano's revenge comes in their way -

For a contemporary romance, there were moments when I felt Kerry was just too naïve and should have "stood by him", however, she too was searching for love from her family and a sense of belonging.

"Dark Angel" is the story of Luciano and Kerry.
Five years ago when International business tycoon Luciano saves the Linwood winery as well as loans money to the grandparents while sweeping the young naive Kerry off her feet- only to be charged, convicted and sentenced in case of embezzlement. At the same time a misunderstanding leads to Kerry breaking off the engagement, and completely abandons Luciano.

Loads of drama in this one. I honestly felt bad for what was done to the hero, and felt his anger was pretty justifiable. Even when he returns, he is not overly mean (even if he is pretty callous)- and I liked that the realized how he treated the whole situation previously/ works to clear misunderstandings.
The heroine on the other hand was pretty naive and dumb, but I liked her loyalty to her family. I wish she had trusted Luciano over her stupid, bitchy stepsister.
The sex scenes were pretty graphic and hot, but the story could have ended 100 pages sooner. The identity of the embezzler was obvious, and could have been exposed much earlier.
Really did not enjoy the drama in the last 1/4 of the book with heroine-stepbrother-hero. She got on my nerves. Glad that there was an epilogue.

One of those books where the writer gets so carried away that there’s no coming back for them until a crash of their own doing.
Luciano is crazy in love with Kerry and they’re engaged to be married. Kerry is young and TSTL and falls for her step sister’s lies of Luciano’s infidelity and dumps him. The very next day more family drama ensues and Luciano is arrested and put in jail.
Kerry has no remorse and believes that he really must be some evil player to have also been arrested. Clearly she has no backbone and neither honest feelings for the H.
Five long years later, the H is finally freed and he’s back for avenging his wrongful conviction. Kerry’s back in the picture, still the same wilting wallflower who believes anything you say. If you tell her it’s day at night, she’d believe you without bothering to use any of her cerebral capacities. I could really not reason with Kerry. She seemed a little slow/ special needs to me. Sorry for this insensitive judgement.
So the H is on a hot chase of the h in the entire book while the h is just clearly on the opposite end of his tether. She argues relentlessly and just about agrees with even the street dog if that means that she’s in disagreement with and mistrustful of the H.
The plot was beyond me. Luciano had no business in being so reverently in love with this psycho woman. She wasn’t even pretty or rich or influential. So imho Luciano must have some crazy genes himself to pursue such a woman.
Kerry then meets with her long lost step sisters. Too many people, too much noise. And once more Kerry is now more trusting of these women (who she’s never met before in her life) than of Luciano. They have a happy ending but as an outsider I’d question Luciano’s happy ending. That guy to me would always be played by his fickle wife and nothing would ever be enough for her. She’d leave him on the blink of an eye!
Luciano deserved better. Kerry deserved to be left alone in that castle with those ghosts.

Dreadful. This was just so much melodramatic tosh and I loathed the heroine Kerry. She was beyond stupid, blinkered, selfish and thoughtless and seemed lacking in any kind of emotional intelligence.
The other characters were also one dimensional. I don’t expect fully fleshed out characters in such a restricted format but I am so fed up of the characters who are no more than ciphers in the story.
Kerry had believed the vicious stepsister and so abandoned Luciano without apparently a backward glance and then couldn’t see how justified he was in his resentment about how he’d been betrayed.
After he got the stepsister to reveal her part in the proceedings, Kerry still trusted Miles. Luciano was quite right to be horrified that Kerry had never shown the same faith in him and when he asked her not to have anything to do with Mikes - it was an entirely justified request. But Kerry just carried on being blinkered, stupid and downright cruel. I really disliked her.
Even at the end she refused to do as he asked and then of course discovered Miles was the villain and that he didn’t have the slightest shred of remorse.
I thought Luciano deserved much better and at the end I simply wanted him to reject her completely. She only finally realised what she’s done about 2 pages from the end. This was a total failure as far as I was concerned.
As the 4th in the series about the sisters, this lacked any kind of emotional resolution and satisfaction. Sorry this was so disappointing. Luciano deserved so much more!

3.5 stars for good angst. I was surprised at this one -- I really disliked the hero. He didn't seem like a good person. I've read plenty of Lynne Graham heroes that want revenge, but I realized that they almost always change their minds by the ends or the bad guys end up harming themselves so that the hero doesn't need to cause harm to someone else purely for his own pleasure. I didn't like the way he went after the family business here. I also thought the last scene was bad -- he shouldn't have threatened divorce like that and it was totally unfair to expect blind obedience when he didn't explain what he knew. I was left thinking that it looked like a doomed relationship rather than a HEA. And I got the impression that her sisters didn't like him -- why would they? All that said, it was still an emotional story and definitely readable, if long.

Absolutely loved this book!
Luciano was engaged to Kerry and working for her father when he was arrest, and sent to prison for a theft he didn't commit.
Five years later he is released from jail and he is out for revenge. Not only for the wrongful arrest and to clear his name, but also on Kerry for breaking their engagement the day before he was arrested.
Luciano had every right to feel the anger that he did. Kerry, while sweet was just as clueless as could be. She so wanted love from a family who despised her that she turned a blind eye to the evil that they did.
Luciano's path to justice and his reclaiming of Kerry made for a damn good read. I also loved the way Kerry's unknown sisters came barging into her life all ready to protect their baby sister from the big bad Luciano. #Sisterhood4Ever!!

I actually like this book, i mean yes the hero was a bit over shadowing, obsessive & mentally abusive towards the heroine but i mean there is a good story underneath all of this and if you can bypass all of the qualities of the hero then you will like this book, meaning most romance novels has a over shadowing, obsessive & mentally abusive hero at times but underneath it all you always have a good story....

I really liked this at first with all the angst, but as the story went on, it seemed like I've read this plot a dozen times. Kerry just didn't seem to have the backbone she should have had by the end.
Note: This is #4 in the "Sister Brides" series. I didn't realize I had read this 8 years ago & I *thought* I'd read the others in the series. Now I need to go back & find the other 3.

From what I can remember I really enjoyed this book although at times it seemed really superficial. I haven't read the first two novels in the series so I can't say which one is best but despite all that, so far this one is my favorite!

El ángel negro es Luciano, es un hombre que ha tenido la vida muy difícil siendo el hijo bastardo de un conde que fue repudiado desde su nacimiento, cuando creció y estaba haciendo su camino en los negocios es culpado por robo y fraude así que tiene que cumplir una condena donde desperdició 5 años de su vida en la cárcel creando sus planes de venganza.
Luciano es inocente y no se detendrá hasta vengarse de la familia Linwood y de Kerry, su ex prometida.
Por otro lado, Kerry es una chica sensible, ingenua, inocente con una pésima capacidad para juzgar a los demás. Fue engañada por su hermanastra creyéndose la historia de que se había acostado con su prometido Luciano haciendo que rompiera el compromiso.
Luego de 5 años el castillo donde vive Kerry junto a sus abuelos cada vez se sumerge más en la ruina hasta que la verdad sale a la luz y descubre que el castillo pasó a manos de Luciano por un préstamo que hizo al abuelo de Kerry antes de ser encarcelado.
Kerry buscando compasión y más tiempo para poder pagar la deuda acude a Luciano pero descubre que el hombre del que aun esta enamorada tiene matices oscuros muy marcados y que la sed de venganza lo ha cegado completamente.

Luciano y Kerry regresan a una relación tempestuosa donde no dejan de discutir, tener sexo, sufrir y desconfiar uno del otro, todo esto sin nombrar la parte posesiva de Luciano y la dependencia de Kerry.
Es un libro agotador y largo para ni gusto, cuando crees que todo acabó sacan a relucir otro tema que te hace suspirar de la irritabilidad.
Ahora bien, no es un mal libro, solo diría que Kerry necesitaba crecer como persona, es una chica muy sensible y fácil de manipular, no tiene ideas claras y puntos concisos en su vida, sino que la sentí más como que vivía el presente y se dejaba llevar por los demás.
Luciano es una persona abrumadora, mientras lo leía pensaba "wow, no le da tregua a nadie" es muy desconfiado, vengativo, manipulador, dominante, posesivo y hasta tirano en ciertos puntos. Eso de dar ultimátum a cada rato sólo porque Kerry quería algo diferente a lo que él creía conveniente hace que casi me de un aneurisma. No es fácil ver como Kerry se siente dividida entre su familia paterna, sus hermanas maternas y su marido.
Creo que lo que más odié fue al hermanastro de Kerry, Miles, es un imbécil en toda regla, la forma en como creía que destruir una vida a costa de la suya era algo sin importancia hizo que me diera asco su personaje. El padre de Kerry, Harold que resultó no ser su padre y que es un imbécil que nunca sintió nada por ella. La hermanastra y la madrastra que eran unas porquerías. En fin, la familia Linwood era una porquería.
En general fue una buena historia pero siento que pudo ser más corta ya que tenía rellenos que te dejaban boquiabierta con tanta toxicidad.

A typical harlequin read, except I just wasn't in to it this time. And Lynne Graham is one of my OG go-to authors, so I was really expecting more from it. I didn't really find either main character intriguing or likeable. The storyline in the background was enough to keep me reading to the end, but it's not a book I would recommend.

I like the previous 3 books, but this one... well. 1.5 stars.
The male protagonist is too arrogant and full of distrust. The female character is too naive... well, I prefer to use the word dumb. I can't believe how insensitive she is. And the ending seems a bit rushed to me.

Lynne Graham has a few different types of hero/heroine stories. The unredeemable manho that the heroine just loves no matter what even though he treats her like crap. The redeemable manho that treats the heroine like crap but realizes he sucks and fixes himself by the end. And then the one where the hero and heroine figure their crap out pretty easily with some talking and the main issue is the families against them.
This one is more of the third section.
Hero gets out of prison and wants revenge against the people that put him in. He also wants to clear his name.
The heroine is his ex-fiancee who happened to ditch him the day before he was arrested. Her maternal grandparents are going to lose their castle to the hero for a defaulted loan and thus they meet up again.
So the hero and heroine pretty much figure their crap out right away.
I enjoy these occasional stories where there isn't this big huge misunderstanding that drags on unreasonably because all parties involved are just too stupid.
But this one is just a little too side stepped.
The heroine isn't really beaten down or anything like that. More to the point she believes that she failed because she just didn't trust the hero enough. Randomly true but we also learn that the hero just kind of did a here's how it is and you just need to get over it.
That's still true even at the end of the book, just that their issues weren't these massive no getting over it things.
So the reason the heroine ditched the hero is because he lied about where he was. She found out because when she visited her step-sister, the hero's cufflink was on the floor. The stepsister admitted to sleeping with him, said some nasty things that the heroine assumed only the hero would know. For this instant, the hero really had been there, though it was supposedly to see the father, and the stepsister greeted him naked trying to get him back into bed because they'd previously slept together but the hero thought the heroine should just get over it. And supposedly he was dropping cufflinks all the time so meh. And also he didn't tell the heroine and lied to her because he knew she'd be upset about him being there with the stepsister.
Now we go to the hero trying to clear his name and he does not discuss it with the heroine for fear that she'll spill the beans and ruin his plans. This doesn't actually go anywhere, except that later the heroine says she should have just trusted him etc.
In short, they get together because the super nice heroine was just wrong about everything so she learned she had to trust the hero wholeheartedly. But I believed in their HEA only for the reason that the hero wasn't malicious or even treating the heroine like she was stupid for doing what he did. It was all done out of kind of a protection. And apparently that's kind of what the heroine was looking for. They had a relationship like her grandparents where the men don't discuss men things with the women and that's fine.
Overall, it's a pretty blah book, but it was nice to just NOT hate the hero and/or the heroine in a Lynne Graham story, so I like it just that bit more.

I didn’t know LG wrote a full novel of 300+ pages so I was pretty darn excited to read this but truth be told, I don’t even know why I would be. Because as much as I want to enjoy LG’s works, I simply find LG a ‘try hard.’ Don’t get me wrong, I really want to like her works & all but I have yet to tolerate her books——- fully. Diving into this one I realized that if I can’t even sit through her shorter works how can I tolerate a full novel. In fact, this book basically confirmed that LG isn’t emotionally an author for me. Even for someone who lives for all the angst she can find in Novel Land, I find the angst here overkills. MC stalls, the plot lags with stupid long bickering & repetitive, overly drawn conversations that goes nowhere. They never know when to get straight to the point, hiding significant details from each other endlessly when they just need to spit it out by now. Sometimes the sentences doesn’t even flow right either. As smooth as LG writes, sometimes her writing show hints of choppiness. Her run on sentences easily require a reread to fully grasp the meaning. Take Bittersweet Passion for one. It is one of her first or earlier works & it was a choppy galore… although I much more enjoyed the love chemistry there than in here…
So back to this one, the hero & heroine did not have love chemistry whats so ever! He was so boring & she was nonexistent, jk. The duo just never stuck on me. The heroine should have just told him why she ended the engagement but for a minute she wanted him to play a guessing game…ugh! Once she revealed, we get another round of bickering without clarification. So that builds up more angst… NOT! Honestly, I don’t think they even love each other at this point or five years ago. She might have fancied him once & he just happens to lust after her skinny, child sized person. His descriptive sentiments not mine. He was not very endearing!!! In his eyes, she must be unattractive? Honestly, I think the hero has great potential to be a cheater in their near future. I was sick of his lusty thoughts about her & he even admit to himself that there was a thrill of having two attractive women vying for his attention. Yeah, basically he’s an ass for that. Instead of properly addressing it to the then young, jealous heroine (his fiancé at the time) he was secretly enjoying the attention of the stepsister on the side. Why? Does that make you much more of a man? Me, as the reader getting into his head frequently, that tiny bits, did little, poorly of his character judgement. Any sincere feelings one believes he might have for her was killed by those stupid thought & his lusty thoughts about her. Heroine was an insecure child but geez, have he once told her he loved her or assure her, that he was ‘crazy about her’ (he didn’t use the word love) then perhaps things would be different…maybe. Who knows? She’s kind of skinny & vertically challenged (again, his words not mine) & he only wants her because she was the one that got away so yeah… who flipping know. All I know is that I’m not a fan of him or her or the author.

I was sick of his lusty thoughts about her & he even admit to himself that there was a thrill of having two attractive women vying for his attention. Yeah, basically he’s an ass for that. Instead of properly addressing it to the then young, jealous heroine (his fiancé at the time) he was secretly enjoying the attention of the stepsister on the side. Why? Does that make you much more of a man? Me, as the reader getting into his head frequently, that tiny bits, did little, poorly of his character judgement. Any sincere feelings one believes he might have for her was killed by those stupid thought & his lusty thoughts about her. Heroine was an insecure child but geez, have he once told her he loved her or assure her, that he was ‘crazy about her’ (he didn’t use the word love) then perhaps things would be different…maybe. Who knows? She’s kind of skinny & vertically challenged (again, his words not mine) & he only wants her because she was the one that got away so yeah… who flipping know. All I know is that I’m not a fan of him or her or the author.

This was awful. I should have dnfed it ages ago but then it was too late and I was too far in. The writing was terrible. I got used to the back and forth perspectives and almost kinda liked it, but then it would totally change the setting and the day the very next paragraph with no visual cue and left out tons of info. Bad. The sex scenes were some of the worst I’ve ever read. Made me actually say ew out loud. Should have saved this book for a drunk reading with all the shitty twists and turns.
And their relationship is HORRIBLE. I hated both of them as MCs. Their heads are too big for their bodies, they cannot communicate to save their lives, they threaten and berate each other, don’t even remotely try and listen to each others feelings bc feelings don’t exist here, actively make decisions as if they don’t have another person to care for, are selfish, greedy, confident to a fault terrible people. They don’t even compliment each other in their terribleness. It clashes even more. And for such a long book it was rushed somehow?! The first half was boring and repetitive and the second half was boom boom boom page after page FOR WHY?!

Luciano yang baru saja bebas dari penjara, sudah merencanakan banyak hal termasuk balas dendam pada keluarga Linwood yang telah memasukkannya ke penjara 5 tahun yang lalu. Berbicara tentang keluarga Linwood, berarti termasuk Kerry yang memutuskan pertunangan mereka tepat sebelum Luciano dijebloskan ke penjara.
Kerry tidak menyangka kastil milik kakeknya sekarang adalah milik Luciano. Kerry berencana menemui Luciano untuk memperpanjang waktu pengembalian dana pinjaman kakeknya. Tentu saja Luciano menolak. Tapi Kerry berkeras akan tetap bertahan di kastil itu.
Antara Luciano dan Kerry tarik ulurnya alot. Hanya ketertarikan secara fisik yang membuat keduanya bisa bersatu. Namun di baliknya tetap saja saling mencurigai. Yang ngeselin waktu Kerry ketemu dengan kakak-kakaknya, sia malah marah-marah dan membela Luciano, padahal perlakuan Luciano ke dia ga ada manis-manisnya. Kecuali saat di tempat tidur.
Porsi Kerry dengan saudaranya juga tidak banyak. Malah kesannya Kerry menjaga jarak dari saudaranya demi Luciano.

Good twist on classic LG plot. Heroine is sweet, but her father and step-sibs are awful, hero also has sad back story, but after 5-years apart they reunite and tear each other apart until reality of both their situations start to cool heads. But then Kerry meets her half-sisters and they add more complications to her already complicated love life, which is why LG is such a good writer - Dark Angel is a rollercoaster ride. I liked the hero. Step-sister OW - hero had slept with her in the past before he met the heroine, so that was an interesting real-life plot angle that bothered the heroine which was understandable. That kind of reality isn't usually part of the harlequin landscape but it didn't bother me.
First time I have read this book, I'm not sure how I missed this great read - I will probably add it to my favourites/reread list.

It is really good story line, but not really well written, in particular the more serious/triller/tried-to-be-darker aspect of a story. Couldnt hold my interest and whereas i usually read this author in one sitting, this one took me a while.
Hero is a ruthless busniseman, hell bent on well justified revenge. That was well described. Him, i admired.
Her, i just wanted to costantly smack and hit! WTF is wrong with her? She was presented like a really shallow undesisive idiot that at best of times didnt know her own mind.
Its getting to a point where it is really hard to read books like this one, that depict women that behave so stupid and do things the way author described her, like a total braindead morons! I want to believe that we are better than that. Smarter. Stronger. Women like her a slap in face to all of us.
