Life is full of dares―challenges that require sufficient courage, bold behaviors, and an adventurous spirit. Yet, when it comes to faith, people lack the same courage, choosing instead to stand idly by and wait for permission to live what they say they believe. It’s time to wake up, says author Laura Ross Greiner. It’s time to fully embrace the dares God has given Dare to say yes. Dare to have faith. Dare to trust. And more. With inspiring, captivating, and sometimes heart-wrenching stories of people who dared to believe in the face of great pain, Greiner challenges Christian women to stand up, live big, and embrace the truths of the gospel no matter what. The story of a three-year-old stricken with cancer dares women to see proof that God exists even in hard times. The struggles that a single mom has with depression teach readers to trust that God can change us, if we dare to let Him. The plight of a woman whose husband is having an affair dares us to wait for God’s direction. While most Christian-living authors promise peace, few stare Truth in the face as boldly as Laura Ross Greiner. The provocative challenges of TruthDare will bring readers on a fulfilling―albeit uncomfortable―trek to a fuller, deeper life spent in God’s grace.
Not the same "ole" thing. Really. This book is a great one for Christians who are feeling like they are missing something in their Christian walk. Each chapter is titled with one word--you will find some familiar and some not as familiar, each characterizing what the chapter is about. You might think you already know what is going to be said ("I've heard that before"), however, I believe that you will be surprised at the turn it takes. For example, the chapter on praise is really about being able to worship the Lord, saying "yes" to Him during those heart-breaking, gut-wrenching times; and then seeing the hand of God take over, healing and working on your behalf. This slim book is packed with stories of those who dared to live their faith. Some of them are hard to swallow. These are real circumstances that fellow-Christians wrestled through with their God. No fakey trite "story-book" endings here. But evidence that God can be trusted if we dare to really live what we say we believe. This book actually helped me through a difficult time, and I will go back and read it again. Also, each chapter contains questions and scripture to further your own personal discovery and enrichment of these topics. Pay attention to them. There are blessings to be found in them. No, this is not a perfect book. Not everything in it precisely hits its mark, but if you read this with an honest and open heart, you find much to comfort, astonish, and sustain you as you journey with the Lord.
I need to add that I received a free copy from the publisher in response to a Goodreads offer. I was kind of skeptical about how much I would like it or agree with it, but I was pleasantly surprised!
Truth Dare is a collection of real life stories of people who faced life challenges and how they dealt with them. Laura Ross Greiner has woven her own thoughts and experiences into each chapter inspiring the reader to add their own as they walk through the pages of this book. At the end of each chapter are reflection questions along with spaces for journaling.
I am impressed with the various stories shared in this book. Laura Ross Greiner has done an excellent of job of covering various life challenges/subjects, yet keeping the book short and to the point. The questions posed at the end of each chapter are inspiring and thought provoking, challenging the reader to stop and think before moving on to the next story. I believe this book would be a great tool for a bible study group, as it encourages growth in the Lord – opening the door to the fruits of the Spirit in the reader’s life. Bravo!

This is a heart endearing book. It has great lessons of trust, faith and truth. I grew up believing in letting God handle things in our lives "give it to God" was the mantra. This book reminded me of that and the faith that goes with letting things go to God. I have struggled with this over and over in my life and this tells me I am not alone. It tells me to go back to the gospels, the book and aply those lessons to my life. This book made me want to restore my relaitionship with God and try harder to giving things over to him. Thank you again for this opportunity to read this wonderful book. Thank you for the firstreads give aways now I can share this treasure.
At first I thought this book might be like so many others that I have read of the "religious" variety and have quickly forgotten. This book is different. It is a good Christian book without denominational tint, but a book about being with God, listening to him, and growing with him.
This book could easily be used to illustrate information in Sunday School or in sermone. The stories are wornderfully designed to help make the point of the chapter. Good readable book.

This book was awesome. Every story in it was expertly brought to life by the author. They all tugged at my heart. I really felt like I knew these people. The stories tied in perfectly with the lesson from the chapters and then there was a nice section that you are able to fill out at the end of each chapter that gets you thinking about and applying what you just learned. This book gave me insight into valuable lesson about patience and trust etc. This really is one heck of a book that I would encourage anyone to buy!!!
This was a wonderful book. All of the stories will captivate you and leave you with a since of belief that you never had before. Laura Ross Greiner, told each of their stories with such ease, grace and compassion. She really captured the true essence of life and the beauty of living the truth you believe!
This book is in my opinion 100 percent worth reading. I kid you not, I thank God for reading this book and Goodreads for offering it here. It may not be everyone's cup of tea although I have no idea why. But I'm still reading it and rereading it right now. I am so moved. Thank you.
Great book. The stories are inspiring and you can pick it up and read a single story or read the whole thing. The thoughtful questions at the end of the stories are nice too.
