I think this would be a great introductory cookbook for someone who hasn't a lot of experience with cooking and wants to learn how to make some classic dishes. For anyone already experienced in the kitchen, it's not as likely to inspire.

Just wasn't food I would eat, nor was it as healthy as I'd have liked. Not thst it claimed to be healthy, just comforting. Just wasn't the comfort food I was raised on.

This is a great little book full of recipes for comfort food that has been given some twists from Sur la Table. In the book, comfort foods are described as "the best things about childhood in edible form" which is true. There is a good mix of basics in here along with some different takes on them. I have cooked 2 recipes so far: Kabocha Squash Soup with Toasted Cumin and Chile--which was delicious, and the Chewy Oatmeal Cookies--perfectly chewy and slightly crisp with cranberries studded throughout. You can see them and my review here: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/20...
