Early Advanced: Classics to Moderns - Volume 47 | Piano Sheet Music Collection | Essential Repertoire from Baroque to Modern for Technique Development ... Study
(Music Sales America). A large selection of piano literature, from the Baroque to the Modern, is presented in a variety of forms, colors, and expressions. Included are pieces affording the student a greater opportunity to attain technical and pianistic effectiveness.
I grew up with this series of piano literature so it has been fun to re-read a lot of the pieces. I feel very fortunate to have had a piano in the house growing up and to have two musical parents who saved generations of music for me to pour over. This collection, in particular, is ideal to have on the shelf.
I particularly like that the series is chronological, so you can experience the evolution of western music. It also feels, to me, that the music becomes more difficult to play, but the overall level of each book is accurate and there are so many pieces to explore that you'll never be at a loss.
This edition is very nicely edited, visually, so it's easy to read. There are a few questionable page turns, but that's me coming from work as a music editor and musician. I did find that the book didn't stay open easily (use clothes pins!) and that the spine cracked a bit easily and a few pages came loose, but that happens with most piano collections, which I suppose is why you buy the individual piece come performance time.
