This is the book that got me into reading and made me fall in love with it! I read it in 5th grade, I am a 19 year old graduate now, so it’s been awhile. I don’t remember everything in this book, I just remember loving it so much! I hope to have my own copy of the book someday and I’ll be able to reread it!

This book is about a girl named Janet and her quest to find a missing mare. It all started in her dream, riding the mare. She calls her Storm. After school, she asks her friend, to find Storm. after her friend almost fell of the water fall, she is grounded for a week. She continues doing her lessons for the Open Seasoner (a competition). she is stuck with an old mare called Sugar. Her dream is, to have a horse of her own. Later in the story, her dream becomes a total Night Mare! a storm comes and floods her whole town. She decides to help the mare get down a cavern. All of the sudden Sugar is being taken by the flow of the river! to figure out the ending, you have to read the book.

It was a really good story, something I'd definitely recommend for a young person interested in horses. The only thing that keeps me from rating it higher was that the blurb described Storm as a "darkly magical beast who can never be tamed." Well, Storm's a ghost, and there are very few magical moments throughout the story. Definitely not what I was expecting; misleading blurb aside, though, it is a good story.

My favourite part of the book was when Janet Marshall dreams about a white mare that she named Storm. My favourite character is Janet because she really likes horses like I do and she has a really fun and a scary adventure in the canyons. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes horses and adventures.
