Nelson, a retired school teacher, is visiting his mother who lives in southern Missouri near his family’s retirement place. Tensions are high due to the fact that Texas has declared it is splitting from the Federal Government. And now, several other “red states” are following suit, including Missouri. This event, known as “The Great Split,” is further dividing the country along ideological and political lines.
From a lakefront condo, to his home in Illinois, to a relative’s farm in Tennessee, he and a friend confront the challenges of traveling and surviving when fuel and food items are no longer readily available. During his journeys, he encounters desperate people who either need his assistance or who are determined to confiscate, by force, his vehicle and belongings. Will he safely navigate the hindrances to reunite with his wife and sons or will he fall victim to obstacles along the way?
