First of all, I am giving this book one star because that is the lowest possible rating available here or the rating would be in negative. Should a 10-year old school kid write a novel, the grammar and the style of writing would be more appropriate for fiction than the structure-less scribbled up "sentences" we get to read in this novel. It is incredible that something of this sort gets published and sold. This is one book that raises hopes in the hearts of budding writers across the country for they need not fear anymore if their writing is classy enough to be released and marketed. At a time when English sentences have started losing their old charm and jargons have become the new order, books were the only consolation and lo! - we get to read something like this. After finishing it, one feels like having read a story compiled of a huge collection of poorly written Facebook statuses and sms'es. Coming to the story part, there is nothing engrossing or even remotely interesting about it. If any guy from a college who maintains a diary of his daily events and publishes it as a novel, that would turn out to be even more story-like and curious to read. We are made to read about one Maddy who has no life and has nothing better to do in his IIT life than search for random girls' profiles on Orkut and try to flirt with them and later after joining a company starts going out with another girl. One wonders in what way anyone would show even an ounce of interest in reading a novel about such a guy with no life. Overall, the so-called "roller coaster ride" is a complete waste of time.
This book is about the love life of a guy from IITB, who is caught between two girls. The book reads out just like a diary entry, and with all its twists and turns, makes a good story. However, just like the other books published by the Srishti Group, this book too needs extensive editing. Loads of spelling error, grammatical mistakes, too much informal lingo, and artificiality get the book only 3 stars.
The story starts at IITB where the protagonist Maddy, who is from the same college, meets a girl who came to their cult-fest ‘mood indigo’. That relation ends in tragedy in a couple of days. Next, it is about his encounter with Pooja, whom he met on Orkut. She agrees to be his girlfriend leaving her boyfriend because of Maddy’s IIT brand (that is what she says). Maddy gets a job so he shifts to Gurgoan, where he meets his flat mates - Harsha, Kundan and Dhananjay. The relation with Pooja becomes a distance relation.
In office he meets Divya, who is a bitsian. Divya becomes Maddy’s best friend. Whenever there is a fight between Maddy and Pooja, Divya sorts it out. As the story proceeds Maddy doubts whether Divya loves him. And he is confused whether he should go after Pooja(with whom he is having problems) leaving Divya( who loves him a lot).. After one incident he realizes Divya is the right one. From there the relation with Divya begins. The rest of the story is about how this relation turns out to be. Will their relation end on a happy note? Or will it be a disaster like his previous experiences? How did the relation of Maddy with his flat mates changes during all this?
Though this one is quite predictable till the end, the ending justifies the title “roller coaster ride”. I liked the way author portrayed Maddy's relation with his flat mates.
As the story advances Maddy inspires to be an entrepreneur. But this point did not show any impact on the story line. There are some characters which come and go without adding anything to the story.
The writing style is fine. This is like real life incidents packed into a single story.
Well well well I am sorry Saumil. I met Saumil in one of the blogs meets a long back and he even gave me a lift back to Gurgaon but the book oh the book I didn't like too much. I think that you need to work on your writing and work with an experienced editor. Also, the end was awkward and absurd which didn't make much sense.
People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
always enjoyed reading indian books.. but this one is unusual..
there are lot of gramatical mistakes and some of the matter is non-detailed.. the book is worth 3.5 stars, because of the errors, i would give onyl 3 and good book..
completed this book in just 2 days.. that must be my record.. completing it in 2 days is a very big thing for me.. hopefully anyone can compelete it in 1 day, i take a week to complete books like that... but this one.. i couldn't leave the book until i compelete it.. worth-a-read one...
This one is worth the time once it starts rolling. First glimpse of it and u wont find in interesting. Once u r reading it the no. of twists and turns will keep u hooked till the end.
I was clouded by the fact that it might turn out to be a regular novel but things turned around in the last 50 pages and the journey went well.
Smooth flow and the surprise elements are good.
A part of my life can be related to the story. So it was kind of going down the memory lane with not so pleasant memories.
This book is about a iit grad(Maddy) who is obsessed to be in relationship with a girl.In college he got a girl friend via some social network.Later he fell for another girl who happens to be his colleague. Finally story ends with whom our hero is.
Story is narrated in such way that you want to finish the book in one sitting.
Another story by an Indian Author. Another story that explores the life of an IITian. Not a page turner. Not anything new. Would recommend an avid reader to stay away from the book.
