Good stuff but it would really benefit from including a few maps

A worthwhile endeavor to put together a history of the area, but it could have used some editorial review. I started it while spending a few days up in Taylorsville before New Year's, but then I put it down for a month before finishing. Definitely worth a read for history about early California, the Gold Rush era, and the creation and lifelines of small towns in northern California. The author is passionate about the subject and area, but even though this is a short book, it sometimes gets bogged down: some of the narratives are really interesting, but at other times it seems like information was simply carried over from a census or meeting minutes.
