Rate this book
A lance corporal in her territory's vampire army, Scarlet is no stranger to the violence and bloodshed of war, but in the midst of it, she discovers something that makes it all worthwhile--love.

Her kind are at war with the humans, a long running feud that has claimed countless lives, and Scarlet is all too aware that vampires are no longer guaranteed a long life after they're turned. Time seems to be of the essence, but she can't bring herself to admit her feelings to the man who had claimed them so wholly--her captain, Corazon.

Corazon has lived through two centuries of war. Tired, disenchanted, and with only his sense of duty to sustain him, he is garnering a reputation for having a heart of ice. But there is one woman at his garrison that can melt the frost within him--Scarlet. Torn between duty as her commanding officer, and his growing love for her, he fights his own personal battle while all around him fight the war.

When things take a turn for the worse, can their love for each other sustain them, and can they find a way to end the war and live in peace together at last?

I was scrolling through my Nook and saw Blood and Snow for $0.99 - snatched it up. I love reading Felicity Heaton’s books and was a bit surprised that this one was a standalone.

A war has been raging between the vampires and humans for a couple hundred years. The setting is a bit medieval, which was great, and the world building was enchanting. The description of the surroundings and the breakdown of the garrison seemed so authentic. The book has a dark feeling about it and kind of reminded me of Underworld.

Scarlet is a newly transformed vampire freshly enlisted. She has a huge crush on her superior, Captain Corazon. Ever since he saved during her first mission, she’s been in love with him and she’s convinced he feels nothing for her. Besides, a love like theirs would be frowned upon.

Corazon (LOVED HIM) is the strong silent type. He is a skilled warrior and tries his best hide his emotions for Scarlet. They are both torn between duty and love while the war hits home. Scarlet fights valiantly and is injured a couple of times, as is Corazon. This allows them time to speak one on one and bond. However, with encouragement from their friends and with facing death every day, they decide to embrace their love.

This was a sweet romance filled with angst – it was refreshing to not have the characters hooking up immediately. What kept me from giving this book a perfect 5 stars: I felt it moved a bit too slow, the love triangle, and the charters spent a lot of time in personal reflection. Overall, great read! I suggest anyone who loves vampire romance and Felicity Heaton to grab this book.

I loved this story! Felicity Heaton has done it again! She has written a fantastic paranormal romance that kept me glued to the pages!
Scarlet is a Lance Corporal in the vampire army, and she is a fantastic character. She is a likeable person, but she holds herself aloof from the rest of the company. However, she has feelings for Corazon, which is forbidden, and she struggles to hide it.
Corazon is her superior, and he is also a fantastic character. He is a strong leader and he has a lot going for him; he is handsome and charismatic. He also seems to command a lot of respect - I certainly wouldn't want to get on his bad side!
I loved both of these characters as they struggled with their attraction. The book is written from both points of view and is extremely difficult to put down! The descriptions of all the scenes were so clear, I felt like I was actually there. There are some gruesome scenes, which are a bit bloody, but when you're in a war, it's not going to be a pretty sight!
This paranormal romance has some explicit scenes of a sensual nature, so I recommend this book for adults only. However, if you are looking for a little heat to go with your vampire, this is the book for you!

Ms. Heaton does it again, this love story is so amazing; and the war is also well written. The main character Scarlett is working her way thru the ranks, trying to make sure that she is the best female solider she can be. At the beginning of the story, Scarlett is outside of the protection of the fort; when they (the party of vampires) are attacked (by the humans) and she becomes victim to a poisonous arrow. She is saved by Corazon and instantly he knows that he has feels for her and that his job has just gotten harder. Once Scarlett has recovered, she knows that she has to be stronger and improve on her skills as a soldier. Deep down all this is really to prove to Corazon that she is strong and capable of more than he thinks. And thru out this story that is what she is strives to do, while falling deeper in love with Corazon. Scarlett and Corazon struggle to keep their emotions in check, but keep slipping up and when it happens fireworks really go off. Poor Scarlett hasn’t had a lot of physical experience with the male species and the author performance those scenes beautifully and tasteful. By the end of the story you see that Scarlett has really became a very worthy mate to Corazon and a major part of the war.
And then there is the handsome Corazon, boy does he play the part of a hero to the “T”; Ms. Heaton description of him makes him truly the knight in shining armor. One more plus on the side of Corazon is that he went from being a stone cold leader to a chiseled lover in a reasonable amount of time. Another nicely drawn out piece of Corazon character is that after suffering a great lost, seeks out a witch to enhance his strength and has worked hard to control this power.
Along with these 2 main characters, there are still some more likeable supporting characters that make this story a worthy read. Too be honest, I hope to know the real outcome of the war and was left hanging. I just want to know if the humans and vampires can really live in peace:-)

Blood and Snow is a fabulous read from Felicity.... but by now we should know to expect no less.

Scarlett & Corazon are Vampires both serving in the vampire army who are strongly attracted to each other but neither has ever acted upon or acknowledged their feeling.

Scarlett has to work hard to be accepted as the only woman in the garrison they are based at & Corazon cannot be seen to show her any special treatment - any action would both draw attention to his feeling for her but also undermine her position as a lance corporal.. something that he could never to do her.

The vampires are fighting a hellish war with the humans and things are getting worse. Will they be able to make it through the fighting and finally express how they feel and have the chance at a possible relationship?

Felicity manages to ensnare you in her stories.... you often feel as if you are there with the characters. Blood and Snow felt like it was playing out years ago and not in the here and now.... even though there was a battle raging round the garrison, you could forget it for a time and focus on Corazon & Scarlett!!!

I am a huge paranormal fan as I want to be transported to another place when I am reading ... I don't want to read about everyday life & problems and Felicity gives me the escape I need with the stories she writes.

As ever, an excellent book and a 5* read!!!

To tell the truth,I D. N.F. at approx70%. Good romance but very old school , far different to what I like to read these days. The inferior soldier falling for her superior and vice versa. Could have been set in just about any wartime era and setting and would have worked. Making it pnr by using vampires was almost like an afterthought riding the then rising vampire craze. That said. Still a good well written book.

This has a decent storyline and backstory of the characters.

It contains open door themes but, not necessarily explicit.

I was expecting more given the description of it being a reverse harem.

It is not a bad ending, or story, I just feel like it fell short.
All of the pieces are there it just lacks extra depth, details, and descriptions.

Blood and snow vampire novel

I loved the overall tale of a war between vampires and humans and the coming together to fight a common enemy . The love story is just right but I want Troy to have his own happy ending please as he is a great romantic lead on his own .

I loved everything about this novel. The details, the characters, the way they fought to survive is just like the world today.

Scarlet is a lance corporal within the vampire army, who is at war against the humans. She starts to develop feelings for her captain but he appears to have a heart of ice, he has lost so much through previous wars that he feels it's his duty to protect everyone.

Captain Corazon starts to develop feelings towards Scarlet and feels that he has to protect her. Both try to hide their feelings but as the war starts to progress and they find themselves in more danger their feelings for each other can not be ignored.

This book is full of action and a building romance between the two characters. Felicity builds the anticipation through out the book, will they, won't they? It's a hot and steamy read that I really enjoyed

There's an eerie feel to this book, almost a sense that time has slowed down. Although the backdrop of the story is a war between vampires and humans in an almost medieval setting, there's not a whole lot of action going on. Instead, the action takes place in the background, and the main focus is on the characters' interactions with each other and their own internalizations. There is one torture scene, however, that is pretty gruesome for a sweet, achy romance (which is what this story really is), but nothing over the top. Two thumbs up from me.

I have read a few chapters, it is well written in the way she describes the war scenes and the interaction of her characters. It plays out more like a action/ romance movie, and there are beginning of a love triangle which I don't really like. It was a good read, and I will read it to the end but I thought some of her other books like forbidden blood or her other vampire romance saga were more my taste.( but I found the intimate scenes In Vampirerotique saga are to graphic, but the characters and story are great.) I want to read on, to find out more about the characters in this book.

Very good book. I fell in love with Captain Corazon and Elise. Their love was so intense and special. I love the way Captain Corazon finally lets his tough guard down and lets Elise into his life. I was crying when they finally profess their love for each other. The action was constant and there was never a dull moment, so to speak. One of Felicity Heaton's good works that I couldn't put down. Awesome!

This book started off really good and promising, with a forbidden romance, lots of sexual tension and great characters.
At first, Scarlet was headstrong and determined. Then she started to get a little softer, of course because she fell in love. By the end she annoyed me the way she was always about to cry over everything and turned sooky.
Towards the last third of the book i found it to drag out and a little boring. Still a good read but not one of her best

It was a little hard at first to get into all the soldier/war speak but after I got that all sorted I was hooked. I really liked Scarlet's character, and the connection between her and Corazon was great to read from the very start. The story had good flow and there wasn't really any boring bits. A great read, better than some of the books out there to buy.

All the good stories end so some...I just never want them to end. This was/is a great love story. Its so timeless and sweet how they keep finding each other. Also the way their love built thru-out the story keep me glued to see what would happen next. I didnt love the war but without it this would have been a fail. Hope there's another for this or a book two .
