Amanda Bentley loves escaping into fictional worlds through reading and writing. A typical Pisces, she’s as much a mood writer as she is a mood reader. She likes her book boyfriends morally grey, but she’ll read any book with romance (preferably drenched in spice and angst).
When she’s not writing, you might find her chasing her wild toddler, or on stage, performing improv with her husband. She’s a creative, free spirit, and while she loves a fun adventure, there’s no place like her bed with a book.
This is the second book of the Festive Fun Series and is not a standalone. It started right where the first book's cliffhanger (and Lorenzo being cocky as always) and it ended with yet another one. But we all know we're thinking of the same thing with what Kate found at the end of this book, right?!
Kate is actually so annoying (for me, anyways) and Lorenzo still feels a little suspish that I don't trust him that fully yet. But, I admit, that car and pool scene is one hell of a spice! I liked the sexual tension they have going on with a right amount of drama mixed in. Also, I felt bad about Brad. He does seem genuine and I wish we can still see him on the next books.
I LOVE the bonus chapter! It made me like Lorenzo a little better than Kate HAHA. I can't wait what the next book has in store for us! 💕
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Amanda hon stop this was sooo good! Being allowed to be an ARC Reader for this is incredible! I read both books back to back in 1 sitting because I couldn't get enough. Where to begin? Like my god you just get thrown into the drama and I'm just eating it up! Playboy was not what I expected at all in a good way and I felt so bad for him. Phahaha Kate and Lorenzo are so chaotic that it gives me a whiplash trying to keep up with their mood swings but I am living for it honestly, it makes me laugh! I absolutely love Larissa with my entire heart she is so sweet! Ugh every time he calls her princess I swoon :D I went through a rollercoaster of emotions while reading this book but my god did I love it! Possessive/jealous Lorenzo does things to me! I swear the spice OMG stop! THE CAR?! I also love how Kate was starting to open up or at least trying to, it can be very tough to do so and I adore her for it. I swear Lorenzo and his dirty mouth are killing me. STOP his chapter! I swear I love that man and I LOVE chapters from the male's pov. Amanda hon why did you end it on such a cliffhanger thoooooo???? I needed the third book like yesterday! I am so excited to read the next one!
The second book in the Festive Fun series picks up right where it left off, at that damn cliffhanger. But not to worry, *spoiler* it ends in yet another one because miss Bentley just likes to torture everyone 😭 I enjoyed the chase between Kate and Lorenzo as well as the spice and the story between them. The fact that she made him work for it earned her brownie points in my eyes. As for him, the possessiveness and mouth which should be washed with soap were greatly appreciated 😉 I did get annoyed with Kate because of her interrogations and constant suspicion but overall this series is living up to the expectations and I can’t wait for the next installment to probably end in a cliffhanger again fml 🥰
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Struck By Stupid, thanks so much to the author!
I, of course, enjoyed this novella. I’m so invested in Kate and Lorenzo’s relationship. I’m really enjoying this concept of all of the stories surrounding a holiday and the reader gets another glimpse into the relationship. The spice is great, Amanda Bentley doesn’t hold back with giving the reader what we want when reading these type of stories. Intriguing character arcs, delicious spice, and a relationship that you’re invested in. I will say that Kate tends to infuriate me, it doesn’t take away from the story though! In fact I think her choices and actions help to progress the story in a way that I am really enjoying. This one ends on a HUGE cliffhanger! So be warned :)
I’m SO ready for the next book. I need to know what that paper said Amanda!!!!
I just finished my ARC which I received today, so that should already tell you something. I was pleasantly frustrated the whole time, I just had too see where this goes. And I'll be patiently waiting for the next holiday to approach.
As another reviewer said, yay to Kate for stepping out of her comfort zone. And yay to the wonderful writer Amanda for introducing some juicy secrets into the plot (at least I assume so). There was anguish, there was banter, there was pent up frustration (of both the MCs and me), there was spice (no holiday decor involved this time ;)). While reading, I kept coming up with different theories and my feelings about the MCs were constantly changing, which, in my opinion, are signs of a good book. Also, Char and Klari were such a bonus, everyone needs some supportive friends ♥️
The series just got more captivating, so I suggest you join the Festive Fun train before Easter (or whichever other holiday Amanda chooses) comes 🎉 And Amanda, please make Zo clean up his car 🙏
First of all as much as I hated the guy in The Holiday Hookup I’m so glad “fuckboy” is back. What can I say I’m a sucker for the drama! We do get some questions answer in this one which I’m very happy about. The way this book started out had me so invested. Lorenzo and Kate are absolutely ridiculous in the best way possible 🤣 As most of us know the whole “friends with benefits” thing really doesn’t usually work out. The fact that these 2 think it will is hysterical to me. The phone scene in the beginning of the book was pure perfection. The drama is real in this book and I ate it up. Kate does get on my nerves but Lorenzo saves it for me. That man is growing on me 🙈 I’m a sucker for a possessive hero! Kate & Lorenzo’s relationship is so push pull and at times it drives me insane but I can’t look away 🤣 Normally I’m not a fan of the male’s POV at the end of books but in this one I absolutely loved Lorenzo’s. You really get to know his true feelings and I was invested!!! I can’t wait for the next book, that ending has me needing more!!!!
The dramaaaa where Kate and Lorenzo are involved… man oh man. Fuckboy is back, Lorenzo isn’t happy about it, and the tension between them is building. Lorenzo is a walking red flag 🚩, but what can I say? I like ‘em messy and toxic.
Kate annoyed me at times, but we’ve all be made stupid by a guy at one point or another. I can’t really blame her.
THESE CLIFFHANGERS ARE GOING TO BE THE DEATH OF ME. Jk, but for real Amanda you have me on the edge of my seat with this series. I neeeed to know more about Lorenzo and what he’s hiding 😩
Thank you to Amanda for this arc Lmao there was so much drama in this book but I'm living for it 🤪 Kate loves the drama too ! Lorenzo is such a fuck boy but sometimes you can resist them. This book ends in a cliffhanger but it's worth it . I love this series 🤗
Kate is insufferable. She’s so whiney but like… it makes it good. Whiney mcs are needed sometimes LMAO. I was almost upset when her date with Brad was ruined bc I kind of liked him even tho I knew I wasn’t supposed to. But Lorenzo is soooo entitled and I want to know what he’s up to. His ego is way too big. He says it’s okay for her to date someone else, but he ruined her date??? Make it make sense , Lorenzo LMAO!! The cliffhangers have me in a CHOKEHOLD like I need the next one ASAP.
walking into this read, i was excited to continue the journey of Kate and Lorenzo. the first book in this novella series was left with a cliffhanger; so i walked into this book wanting some answers. i did, in fact, get those answers -- but also many questions. nonetheless, Ms. Bentley did it again with this book. she knocked it out the park; for sure.
first, the storyline: it's similar to the first book in the sense that it follows Kate and Lorenzo through their journey of "friends with benefits". of course being a novella, it is a shorter book so the plot does not progress TOO much; but enough for the story to never get boring or stale. now, i will admit that i enjoyed the chase between Kate and Lorenzo in the beginning. as know (and if you don't know this, it's a spoiler, im sorry but go read the first book) Kate and Lorenzo start the book off by not speaking after what happened at New Years eve. however, i enjoy the fact that they did not make-up in the first chapter. instead, Kate stuck to her rules and didn't forgive him right away. i liked seeing the chase, it was definitely fun. and the scene where they finally "fix things", that was EXTREMELY hot. but then again, Ms. Bentley always does seem to write good spicy scenes. but, going back to Kate and Lorenzo fixing things, im glad that it wasn't just automatically perfect. instead, they still had issues (Kate's overthinking and Lorenzo's lack of information), which caused for some good tension and drama. and, of course, the ending was incredibly crazy and left with another cliffhanger (i'm too excited for the third book; i just need it).
moving on to discuss the characters, not much has changed since the first book. as mentioned, these novellas are a series, the character development and growth will not occur all in one book; it progresses over time. talking about Kate first, i thought she was still a good character, but i did find myself getting annoyed with her at times. i got a little bothered with all her questioning of Lorenzo, and the way she constantly questioned her own actions. don't get me wrong, i relate to overthinking more then anyone else, but at times with Kate, it was too much. however, what i did like about her was how her confidence grew. when attending the party at Lorenzo's friend's house towards the end of the book, we see her really have a spike of confidence; trusting in her abilities more. i also appreciated how grounded and levelheaded she was. she did realize that the situation with Lorenzo was not going to end well; and she accepted it. she didn't try (even if she wanted to) to change him, and instead accepted the situation. as for Lorenzo, im so drawn to him. something about him draws me to him -- and i find myself liking him more and more with every chapter. sure, he's rough around the edges and not the most romantic, but i appreciate his honesty. the fact that he does not hide anything from Kate, and tells her how it is. also, his possessiveness and jealousy? that was incredible hot. i always really enjoy getting Lorenzo's pov (which is a bonus chapter that readers will be able to access, once signed up to the newsletter). i enjoy being able to get a peak inside Lorenzo's brain -- especially in these situations where he's so reserved. as for the other characters, there aren't many but a few to note. first, Brad: i feel like we all hated him the first book but he came around this time. im glad that he made things right with Kate, and even took her out! i think it would be cool to see more of him in the future, especially since Lorenzo doesn't like him much (or at all). as for Larissa, who we learn is Lorenzo's cousin, she was great. i like how she embraced Kate and didn't make her feel like an outsider. she was nice to her, and helped her feel welcomed at the party. i can tell she'll be more important as the series goes on. finally, Santi, not getting good vibes. the whole situation is a little crazy, so im not too sure that i'll end up liking him once the series ends (i hope im wrong).
next up, my favorite part of reviews, the spoilers! don't read this paragraph if you don't want in-depth detail about the book. no mean comments about the spoilers, you've been warned... let's discuss the ending: where Kate finds a police report. i had a feeling that Lorenzo was connected to Brad's accident in some type of way; the whole thing felt a little too "convenient" if you know what i mean. i'm shocked that this is the way Kate found out though, and i'm excited to see how the next book progresses things. i feel like that bedroom that Kate and Lorenzo always hook up in at Santi's house is a little cursed, in my opinion. speaking of Santi, i'm getting such bad vibes from him. i feel like Lorenzo and Santi are involved in the mafia -- or maybe organized crime in some sort of way. their whole conversation in the room when Kate walks in, where Lorenzo tells Santi he won't do it anymore (i don't remember the exact wording, but you get the idea), that gave me such "mafia boss / employee" vibes. although, i'm about 99% that's not it since in Lorenzo's chapter, we get to finding out that Lorenzo, Santi, and Lorenzo's father are planning to take over the company that Lorenzo and Kate works for -- and Rowan (Kate and Lorenzo's boss) are involved in. this whole situation is getting crazy, and im excited to see it unfold.
overall, this series is living up to it's expectations. i'm enjoy it so much, and i'm loving the little mystery twist that's being put on this overall spicy romance. i would say that if you're looking for short reads, which lots of spice and lots of questions, this is for you. thank you to Ms. Bentley for providing me with an arc of this book -- i cannot wait to continue on Kate and Lorenzo's wild journey
Initial Thoughts Quick, spicy read that is building toward more.
Spice 🔥🔥🔥 Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Review
Kate and Zo are a mess. In that perfect book way, where you enjoy the journey toward what you assume will be their happily ever after. We see them around every holiday, so far meeting at Christmas and exploding a little around Valentines Day.
In this installment of the series, we see Kate struggle to move on, to be healthy and not fall under the spell of who is honestly a walking red flag. He’s suspect on his best day. I know there is good in him somewhere so I am patiently waiting for him to become someone worthy of Kate.
But you know who I liked, trusted less? Brad. Perfect Brad with his polished excuse and boring personality. So maybe Zo isn’t so bad after all, for how he behaved when he finds Kate on Valentines Day 👀
By the end of the novella, they’re slowly coming together. They’re not there yet, certainly have a long way to go, but the plot is thickening and we’re getting closer to uncovering the man behind the bullshit. Especially with that last line.
I am new to this author and I can’t believe I had missing out. I enjoyed the craziness that was Kate and Lorenzo. I must say thought i did feel like Kate was in high school at times she was a bit annoying and kiddish to me. Oh and all the secrecy has me hooked like what is up with Santi and who is the mysterious roommate, where was Lorenzo going off to in New Year’s Eve? I need answers and this cliffhanger leaves me wanting more and needs to know what happens next. It was a great novela one I’m hooked on and need answers to and look forward to finding out what happens next in my mind I’m conducting all these scenarios but will I be correct only one way to find out and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book to know those answer. I highly recommend this book.
This is the second novella of the festive fan series! I loved that it started right where the first ended, with the cligghanger. Guess what this one ends with one as well. lol. I love the chase between Kate and Lorenzo. The lead up to the spice moments are my favorite. OMG the date with Brad !!!!!! I kept saying omg whats going to happen, then guess who shows up LORENZO !!! I swear i was sweating!!!! Poor Brad,
What is the deal with Santi??? I know he seems like a dick, but something must be up with him. I need him to have his own book and all the spice !!!!
Sometimes Kate gets me mad and i just want to shake her and Lorenzo seem so closed off but I love them and i also like the other chacaters. I want Char and him to meet. Sh*t out of luck is coming March 9, 2023 I CANNOT wait!!!
This is the continuation of Kate and Lorenzo's story on the Festive Fun series and focuses on their interactions on/around Valentine's Day.
The spice in this book was absolutely perfect. Lorenzo is the type of guy that you want you just dream of having. He's the alpha male type that has a rough bedroom side that's just swoonworthy. I don't really care for Kate's character, since she feels very high school instead of adult.
I didn't feel like this was a dark book or really had any dark themes. There may be some situations that are a little gray, but nothing major. The plot was also pretty scarce. There wasn't much outside of the spicy scenes that I could constitute as a plot.
“𝙸 𝚌𝚊𝚗’𝚝 𝚕𝚎𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚛𝚞𝚒𝚗 𝚖𝚎.” … “𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚎. 𝙸 𝚠𝚘𝚗’𝚝 𝚛𝚞𝚒𝚗 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚙𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚜𝚜. 𝙱𝚞𝚝 𝙸 𝚠𝚘𝚗’𝚝 𝚜𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚎𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛.” 5/5 ⭐️ 5/5 🌶 This is the second book in the Festive Fun series. If you haven’t read the Holiday Hookup *ɪɴꜱᴇʀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴅʏ ᴘᴇʀᴇᴢ “ꜰɪʀꜱᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴀʟʟ, ᴇᴡ. ꜱᴇᴄᴏɴᴅ ᴏꜰ ᴀʟʟ, ᴇᴡ.” Read my review if you aren’t convinced. There isn’t as much spice in this book, but when there is, ladies have your mood ready. I love Kate so much. She is someone who wants to get out of her comfort zone, which is something that is hard to do, but she is willing to try. * ʏᴏᴜ ɢᴏ ɢʟᴇɴ ᴄᴏᴄᴏ!* She does this while also attempting to be smart about it. 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. I gave the HH 4.5 stars because Kate didn’t have much character development, I still loved her deeply, but I loved how much character development there is in this book for her and for Lorenzo. Speaking of Lorenzo… I said “𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙖 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩” in HH, I’m going to multiply that by 10. He is still one cocky sob, but he is sex on a stick, so I’ll excuse it. He knows what he wants and goes after it, but also respects boundaries…for the most part. He also knows exactly what to say to melt your panties off. I love seeing his POV because it makes him that much more drool worthy. Their banter is so fun and heated, and you can’t help but laugh, regardless of how frustrating the situations may be. Speaking of frustrating, there are times where I want to slap Lorenzo, but again, 𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐞, so I’ll look past it. Amanda sure as hell knows how to leave you on a cliffhanger that makes you want to jump off of said cliff. I thought I would get closure in this book, but for some reason I am being punished and didn’t get that. * ɪɴꜱᴇʀᴛ ᴍᴇᴍᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴋɪᴛᴛᴇɴ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ꜱᴀʏꜱ “ᴍᴇ” ᴅʀɪɴᴋɪɴɢ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴄᴀʀᴛᴏɴ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ꜱᴀʏꜱ “ɴᴇᴇᴅ ᴀ ʜᴜɢ ᴊᴜɪᴄᴇ”. I really don’t know how I am expected to wait for the third book. I have too many theories for the next book that I think my head may explode and as I already told Amanda, if I die between now and then, I expect someone to read the third book to me at my grave. Also, ℝ𝔼𝔸𝔻 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔹𝕆ℕ𝕌𝕊 ℂℍ𝔸ℙ𝕋𝔼ℝ! You will not regret it.😉
Kate and Lorenzo holiday Novellas, or quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This one was a little less spicy than the first but I was definitely more into this one versus the book.
Lorenzo just gets more and more mysterious clearly something shady is going on with him and his friends and I’m dying to know what is because it’s obvious it’s the reason he won’t admit the truth that gets wants to be with Kate.
I can’t wait for the third book in this holiday novella series highly recommend for quick fun spicy reads 💗
Kate is still unbearable and seems more whiney in this book vs. book 1. I HATE how Zo ruins Kate and Brad's date even though he said after that he was okay with her dating other people. Which I didn't understand because they weren't in a serious relationship or a relationship at all. They were strictly friends with benefits. He does seem jealous, though. There was another cliffhanger, so I will be buying book 3 soon.
Super easy, and quick read didn’t wanna put it down. I really enjoyed getting more of their continued story! Their pull towards each other, despite them trying the best to deny it, leads to some intense spicy scenes. I love it and am excited to see how their continued story unfolds in the next one!
Okay, I fell in love with this one. Kate drives me nuts with her insecurities and her thought patterns. She acts like being 25 is absolutely ancient 😂. HOWEVER, the bonus chapters with Lorenzo’s point of view??? SWOON. I love hearing how he feels. I think it’s hysterical they think that they’re going to be friends with benefits only. I’m so excited for the next one!
I loved this novella! I though the story here took a big step up from the first novella (which I also enjoyed). These have the perfect amount of spice and plot for a novella which means they’re great to read in one sitting. The spice was a little lower in this one but the plot really started pick up so I felt as though that trade off was fair! Lorenzo is such an infuriating character but in the best way and I can’t wait to see what unravels in the next installment.
Better than the first book, but I’m struggling with the fact that neither one of these characters have any idea what they want. Lorenzo gives me whiplash with his “I’m possessive not jealous” crap.
Look, Brad might have been boring, but he deserved better.
Sruck By Stupid is # 2 in the Festive Fun Series, by Amanda Bentley in the contemporary women's fiction genre. The book starts with Kate and Lorenzo having an argument , which is often. This novella has great character development with the storyline for mature readers only. This book continues with the romance of Kate and Lorenzo with enough drama, tension and mystery to keep the reader entertained. And the cliffhanger will leave the reader frustrated and excited for #3. I received an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review. The opinions shared here are my own.
Zo & Kate are as back and forth as you can get, but the toxicity in it is exciting, for sure. Can’t wait for our next holiday to see if we get anything cleared up.
I really enjoyed reading this book so much and omg can we talk about the drama!! I’m a sucker for drama and let me tell you this book had it!! Just like the first book in the series (The Holiday Hookup), I was able to feel exactly what Kate was feeling. There were moments where she would get me mad and frustrated but that’s only because of the way she feels about Lorenzo and what he does to her, which I can understand. The spice in this book was perfect and I just love the characters. I also love how Amanda Bentley includes a chapter that is Lorenzo’s POV as we get to know what he is feeling. It does leave us off on a BIG cliffhanger and I just want to read the next book in the Festive Fun Series to know what will happen!!
This is Book 2 in the Festive Fun Series by this author. It is the next installment to the fire and ice romance between Kate and Lorenzo. There is no denying the sizzling chemistry and strong connection between these two fierce souls. Their emotional yet romantic adventure continues with more drama and steam, mystery and intrigue, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A seriously entertaining read to be continued.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I loved the characters and drama surrounding them. I don’t like that this, the second book in the series, once again ended in a cliffhanger, but am praying they get a HEA by the end of the next book. I will be following this writer and her upcoming books!!
Thank you to the author, Amanda Bentley, and BookFunnel for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In two words. Short and sassy. I love the playlist. It is definitely their vibe. Mostly, I loved how Kate is trying to get out of her comfort zone. She wants to be bolder and more confident. Good for her for demanding answers and calling Lorenzo OUT on his BS. I love that for her. I’m rooting for her! I also loved the jealousy and that scene in the backseat of the car… and the pool. I wish it didn’t stop where it did! It was just getting good! They are so hot and cold. I’m getting as much whiplash from Lorenzo as Kate is! I like how she really stayed away from him for so long, I was rooting for her! She knows she wants a boyfriend and it would be better for her heart to stay away. But they can’t stay away! Lorenzo (Zo, but I think Loro or Enzo are cuter nick names for him! Softer. ) is not able to resist her. Even though he’s a walking red flag, reading his POV, I’m starting to warm up to him… but cautiously. His bonus content pushed up my rating because I liked being in his head and seeing his POV. So definitely look out for that!
I am very interested in what he is hiding and why he refuses to date Kate, though he wants her. It has something to due with Rowan, I just know it. Obviously, Santi is involved too. His whole friend group is shadey! (Except his cousin, Larissa. I loved her!) Maybe the business work at is front for money laundering, drugs, or something else nefarious and doesn’t want her to get involved. I need to know!
Minor spoilers ahead: Considering how he drives, like an asshole speeding, I have a feeling I know what she found in the drawer and it related to a certain Valentine… we shall see!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Book number 2, Struck by Cupid, in the Holiday Hookup series picks up right where the first left off, with drama and spice! I am getting more and more excited about this series with each book I read, its nice to have Kate and Lorenzo’s back stories fleshed out in this book. A lot happens in this book, a lot of jealousy, over reactions and misunderstandings. I think Kate is very high strung and it can cause her to over react over just about everything. Im interested to see how her feelings on a casual relationship change over the course of the books. As much as I love Lorenzo, he is hiding more than it seemed in the first book. I have a lot of theories and I’m excited to see them unravel as we go on. Can we all appreciate Lo saying “I’ll sin every day of my goddamn life if that means I get to end up in you” *Fans self* Lorenzo is definitely feeling more for Kate than he is saying and he is conflicted about it……. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING LORENZO???? Just like with the Holiday Hookup you are left with more questions than when you began! Thankfully St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, so we get another novella soon!
Thank you Amanda for the opportunity to read this ARC!
