Is There Anyone Out There? investigates whether there is life beyond planet Earth. The non-chronological report examines what we already know about the Solar System and the possibility of life on other planets. It also offers ideas of what aliens in certain sorts of environments might look like.
The main reason we knocked one star off is because it is a little out of date now being published in 2005 (and reading in 2021). It still has Pluto as a planet in the Solar system, and it says that all exoplanets that have been discovered are gas giants, things that are no longer the case. Also it has artist's impressions of what aliens might look like and these of course are speculative, although I think this is part of stirring the child's imagination and interest.
At the end of the book my son also took part in one of the activities at the back of the book where he drew a picture of his own planet/world - high colour world, which was multi-coloured and had aliens that were also multi-coloured.
Overall then it was interesting, but sometimes dated. 🪐
