Challenging for those with no prior background in Daoism. Very good though - a book to read and then read again as your knowledge starts to grow. Each reading will illuminate something new and different.

A very dense and obtuse text on a particular school of taoism called Complete Reality Taoism from the 11th century. It is certainly NOT a good introduction to such a diversified subject as taoism because "that which can be named is not the name". But, I found my copy for $2.00 so it was worth while to pick up ;)

I slogged through this book, understanding less than a third of what I read. I've been a student of Daoism for many decades, so it isn't due to a lack of knowledge on Daoism. This text is specific to the Complete Reality school of Daoism. It would likely be more comprehensible if The Seal of the Unity of the Three: A Study and Translation of the Cantong qi, the Source of the Taoist Way of the Golden Elixir - the foundational text of this school - was read first.
