Can Andrew really spend twelve hours saying no to everything Stephen offers him? It s not going to be easy, when all he wants to say is - Yes!
Andrew likes sex. If someone he s attracted to wants to have sex with him, he's not going to say no to them. That's not a character flaw, it s just common sense.
Stephen seems to think otherwise. He's sure Andrew is incapable of saying no to a cheap thrill. But, at the same time, he's more than happy to provide Andrew with the prefect opportunity to prove him wrong.
Andrew has no doubt that he can say no to everything the younger man offers him for the next twelve hours, and that's all he needs to do to win their bet. He's also quite looking forward to cutting the would-be dominant down to size in the process. Because, while he may be easy when it comes to vanilla encounters, Andrew has high standards when it comes to dominants.
There's no way an inexperienced nineteen year old is going to receive his submission. Andrew will obviously find it easy to say no to that. Won't he ?
Reader Advisory: This story has been previously released as part of the Friction anthology by Total-E-Bound
Kim is a thirty-three year old bisexual submissive from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released almost 100 BDSM erotic romance titles ranging from short stories to full length novels. Having worked with a host of fantastic e-publishers, she has just moved into self publishing.
While she has occasionally ventured towards other pairings, Kim's first love is still, and probably always will be, Male/Male stories. But, no matter what the pairing, from paranormal to contemporary, and from the sweet to the intense, everything she writes will always feature three things - Kink, Love and a Happy Ending.
I think I read this one before in the anthology and I might have already said this there. I didn't check.
This is a really smart and interesting mind game between potential D/s partners. However, I always struggle with the really young Dom that Kim is so fond of writing. It just doesn't work for me in this case.
I constantly stopped to wonder how he could be so smart at 19 and be able to read people so well. I just can't buy into it. The 19 year olds I know are usually struggling to be a fraction that self aware let alone able to look at others in such an insightful way. Are there exceptions to that? I am sure there are but I can't recall meeting or knowing one. Can I overlook it in most of her books? Yes. In this one, not so much. The psychology and attention to detail without any mistakes or loss of control of the situation is just too unlikely for me to suspend my disbelief enough throughout the story.
So, although the premise is very original for the game they play, that a 19 year old newbie Dom would be able to so easily conquer a seasoned sub in his late twenties that wants to fight being conquered seemed impossible.
Kim Dare has a very twisted mind ... & possibly too much time on her hands to use it! This was a nice little, twisty tale where a slutty, jaundiced sub is seduced by a much younger Dom. It was a wonderful view into the kinky mind of Stephen & I enjoyed watching the power play between the two characters. This was a fun, enjoyable take on the theme. There were no whips, chains or cuffs in sight but it still illustrated the dynamics of how an imaginative Dom can torture his sub. Just lovely.
I really enjoyed this quick, slow build shorter read. The chemistry between Andrew and Stephan was HOT and it was interesting to see the dynamic between the younger Dom, Stephan and older Sub, Andrew.
Stephan may have been young, but there was no denying he knew exactly what he was doing.
Just like Andrew I would have been yelling "Yes, Yes, Yes" but I don't think I would have been able to hold off as long as he did somehow cos MMMMMM, they were gorgeous and HOT! Did you hear me say they were HOT!?
"Kinky, I can live with. Kinky is good. But I'm a few seconds away from believing you're just plain weird." - Andrew
What an interesting concept for the beginning of a Dom/sub relationship! I loved the imagination behind the yes/no game and the creativity it took to come up with the questions that were oh so hard to answer!!
It seems like the author likes to write scenarios that go against the typical stereotype of who you might expect to be the Dom vs. the sub in a relationship. In this book, the younger man (Stephen) was the “would be Dom”, and Andrew was the sub who was bound (no pun intended) and determined to not give up his submission to the younger man. I don’t have any issue with mixing it up and going against the stereotypes; I think it was just the exact age of the Dom in question as compared to the maturity level displayed the was questionable. In other words, I didn’t have a problem with a younger Dom / older sub, but a 19 year old Dom who displayed a much older maturity level seemed a bit of a stretch. Regardless, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the book – very fun and sexy!!!
A delightful story about a sub named Andrew who has the tables turned on him by a Dom named Stephen when Stephen gets Andrew to accept a bet. The bet is that Andrew can't go 12 hours without saying Yes. Who wins? You really need to read this short story to find out. It was just what I needed to break away from a boring task for a few hours.
That was one of the longest, sexiest full-story teases I've ever read. God, that game was brilliantly played. The changes in Andrew's mindset were subtle toward the end, but shivery good. That's a game I could totally get into. I loved it. Absolutely Yes!
This was a lovely little jaunt into the beginnings of a D/s relationship. I had a hard time believing a 19 yr old would be so good at it though. Just enough to leave me wanting more, dammit!
To Andrew, life is meant to be lived pleasurably. If a man he’s interested in wants to have sex with him, Andrew’s not about to say “no.” He doesn’t see a problem with this, but Stephen – a young man claiming to be a Dom – seems to believe Andrew’s some kind of slut that’s incapable of saying “no.” Stephen makes a bet with Andrew, one where Andrew has to see if he can turn down everything Stephen has to offer for twelve hours. Andrew thinks this wager is his to win, and he’s more than ready to teach the would-be Dom a lesson…though he’s still looking forward to some vanilla sex with Stephan.
But Stephen has some surprises in store for Andrew. The younger man is more a true Dom than Andrew gives him credit for, and he has a few lessons of his own to teach the stubborn sub. Lessons that make Andrew want to scream “Yes!”
Sex, sparring, and submission pack one hell of a punch in the incredibly fun Yes! The battle of wills between Andrew and Stephen was so enjoyable that, after I finished listening to Yes! the first time, I wanted to immediately launch into a re-listen.
Andrew thinks he knows pretty much everything about sex and his cockiness is part of his appeal. He’s sure there’s no way that Stephen, nineteen to Andrew’s twenty-six, is at all experienced or proficient enough as a Dom to meet his exacting standards. Boy is he wrong. Stephen’s quiet dominance and self-assured manner is every bit the match for Andrew’s arrogance. Stephen frustrates Andrew over the course of their bet, both sexually and mentally and the way Kim Dare handles this makes sparks almost literally fly over the course of the story. And what heat those sparks generate! Yes! is an erotic delight on top of being a fun heroes-battle-their-way-into-love tale. The sensuality in Yes! is a palpable presence, whether you’re reading or listening to the tale.
The only downside in my experiences of Yes! was the quality of the audio book (which was not as high as Total-e-Bound’s audio books usually are). Still, this wasn’t enough to detract from my love of Yes!
I can never say “no” to the opportunity to read one of Ms. Dare’s books, and Yes! proves why. Ms. Dare has delivered another winning romance in Andrew and Stephen’s story; it’s red-hot entertainment at its most engaging. Joyfully Recommended!
It's always nice when an author surprises you with something you didn't expect. Case and point. This story featured characters I definitely wasn't expecting.
Stephen was a younger (potential) dominant who hedged a bet with Andrew, an older submissive centred around Andrew's inability to say 'no' to other guys. For twelve hours, from noon to midnight, Andrew had to answer 'no' to any question Stephen asks or risk losing the bet. And the winner would get their reward in the form of a truth or a dare. What follows was twelfth hours of utter frustration for Andrew and amusement for Stephen.
A simple setup to be sure, but the characters really brought it all together for me. They made a simple concept come alive. And strangely, I think of all the books I've read from this author so far, this one had the most entertaining characters. The most dynamic and alive. That Stephen was six years younger than Andrew alone made this very different from everything else. And while I had been slightly skeptical at first, by the end, I was convinced they worked perfectly.
Both characters were fun and cocky which made for very interesting banter. All that plus Stephen's wit and wording every question to screw with Andrew… I really can't stress enough how amusing the conversations between the two were. It was wonderfully thought out and perfectly executed.
The same sweet master/sub relationship apparent in most of Kim Dare's novels continues in this short, making it well worth the read for that alone. The give-and-take, the trade off between one man and another is well done, and I can't express how well she brings the reader right into the middle of Andrew's frustrations with having to continuously voice the word 'no.' Stephen twists questions and statements right around in ways Andrew never would have guessed, and though it's stated multiple times that he's a novice, his plans and manipulations are impressive.
The only real problem I had with it was Andrew's lack of on-going pleasure in it - he was far too frustrated to actually ENJOY most of the exchanges, I felt - and also the names. As ridiculous as it sounds, I had trouble remembering which person 'Stephen' was and which person 'Andrew' was. I've read numerous books where those names are both used for strong, dominant males, especially since no nicknames are given or used, implying responsibility and maturity. In that at least, I kind of wish Andrew had been given a different name; not fancy or flighty or soft or anything, just different.
I didnt expect to like this but I did. Its a sweet story between a kind-of-a-slut sub and a new into-the-scene-but-in-love-with-the-sub dom. Stephen and Andrew are a couple I would love to read more about.
The only thing I'm iffy about this story is that it's more about mind games rather than kinky sex. But the mind games were kind of good so I'm not complaining~
This novella was a lot of fun, though I found Andrew a bit annoying in his cockiness. Stephen was fantastic. The whole concept was perfect and I kept cheering every time Stephen twisted things around on him again. a very satisfying read.
Who would have thought I would ever like a Kim Dare book? this is very light on the D/S department, the characters were sexy flirty, funny and likeable, and the ending was really cute, totally loved it.
I really enjoyed the sex and sexual situations in this book. I would have enjoyed a bit more physical description of the characters and a final sex scene, but it was a lot of fun sex.
4.5 Stars Short, steamy little book! I loved how the author's lesson of anticipation paid off for the reader, as well as the MC. I also thought this was a very flattering look at D/s dynamics from the submissive's perspective, which I find rare.
I loved this one....Andrew trying for twelve hours to not say YES to Stephen....I loved how stephen worked him to say No but oh the ending when brilliant
