Silas Garrett has done the math. This widowed father knows that his two wonderful young sons deserve all of his hardworking heart. Still, the handsome accountant can't help but notice the carefree new nanny….
But for Jewel Jasper, family equals trouble. She is not going to follow in her mother's reckless footsteps, chasing romance no matter what the risk. The pretty nanny has her own career to consider, and her tall, dark employer is not part of her plan. The heart has its own logic, though, and with two adorable tykes to bind them, the calculus just may add up to love.
As the mother of five sons, now grown, Karen loves to write about real people dealing with the drama (and humor) of everyday life. Over the past fifteen years, Karen has written nearly 50 books for Harlequin/Silhouette and Red Dress Ink, and three of her Special Edition titles (A Mother's Wish (2009) Welcome Home, Cowboy (2011) and A Gift for All Seasons (2013) have won the RITA award, the romance industry's top prize for published authors. In addition, her November 2014 title, Santa's Playbook, earned the Romantic Times Gold Seal of Excellence, out of the hundreds of releases reviewed by the magazine for that month.
She is very active on Facebook, as both Karen Templeton and her full name, Karen Templeton Berger, running giveaway contests whenever she has a new release... or just feels like it. Or you can reach her via her website at www.karentempleton.com, which contains recent news as well as excerpts from both current and backlist titles.
This book was definitely a good find. It's heartwarming, but without glossing over the fact that life can be messy and relationships aren't always picture perfect. For instance, the hero in this book is a single parent and the children's mother has died. However, the pair had been divorced before her death so the emotions here are pretty complicated and the author definitely gives readers a feel for that.
As I went into the book, I saw the serious single dad and the extremely flighty, slightly Pollyanna-ish heroine and rolled my eyes a little. It turns out that while Jewel may look on the bright side as much as she can, her life hasn't been all rainbows and unicorns. As I dug into the book more deeply, I saw that Jewel's slightly airheaded act concealed a lot of drive and also provided her a way to hold the world at arm's length a bit.
Once I got past the initial rosy small town picture and started to see into the more complicated lives underneath the surface, this book really started working for me. It's sweet and good-humored and while the love scenes are understated, they don't lack for emotion. It's been a while since I read Templeton, but this reminds me why I like her books.
Ontzettend voorspelbaar vanaf de eerste bladzijde. Geen moment spannend, grappig of anderzins interessant. En zelfs qua romantiek en erotiek liet het zeer te wensen over. Alleen geschikt voor de papierbak.
Light reading, sweet 2nd chance at love, all the books in the series are stand alone, but it is great to keep bumping into "old friends" from the books already read in this series and keeping in touch with their lives alongside the main characters in each book
okay, typical romance with no real twists or turns, think I prefer either historical or mystery romances which do a better job of setting the scene, bit too sweet for my tastes.
A lovely story of families and friends, love and personal epiphanies. Intriguing characters, great backstories, and an unlikely romance, with kids and dogs. What could be better?
Wonderful. Silas and Jewel. Read this pretty much straight through. Enjoyed KT's imaginative descriptions and humor too. Another Garrett brother meets his match.
