Michael Wilcox shares a beautiful story of a time he was studying his scriptures and his five year old son runs to get his scriptures and comes to sit by him. (His children used to say the "colored in their scriptures" because Michael marked up his scriptures with colored pencils while studying them). Michael didn't really pay attention to what his son was doing until he was done studying and he looked over and noticed that his son had marked up his scriptures exactly the same way he had with the same colors. His son had even tried to write a comment about the devil--but it was too long, so he had just written "the bevil." When he looked over at his son, he was tearing up and he said, "I couldn't write the lines as straight as you did." He thought his dad was going to be upset about that. Michael Wilcox likened that incident to our worrying that God is going to be upset with us because of our lack of perfection. But God knows we are "little children" and he is loving and patient with us.
S. Michael Wilcox makes a point at the beginning of his talk that as we come to know the Savior, as a PERSON, not as our Redeemer, healer, creator, atoner, but as a man, that we come to understand that life as he would have us live it would be more restful, easy and light as we emulate Him.
In track 3 Wilcox talked about having the Savior fill our insufficiencies. Like with our sins, He’s filling our insufficiencies. With the miracle of the bread and fish, he filled their insufficiencies, but they brought what they had. And that is what we need to do as well, bring what we have and He will make up the rest. God multiplies what we give and he makes up the difference, and beyond. More baskets were brought back after all was feed.
This talk makes you love the Savior even more as Wilcox talks of the love Christ has for us all.
I just love the way Micheal Wilcox writes, he teaches in a way that makes sense to me. There is so much more meaning in the New Testament than a cursory reading offers and Michael unearths words and meanings that bring joy and peace to my heart.
A wonderful talk by Michael Wilcox on getting to know Jesus Christ. He discusses Jesus' life and how through his actions and example we learn of a personality full of love, kindness, and personal concern for the children of God. It was uplifting and beautiful.
A beautiful, thought expanding book about the Savior. The stories and ideas that Michael Wilcox told caused me to think deeply about the Savior and how I could emulate Him more. This was a good book to read at this time of year. It was on CD, so I could ponder as I listened to the tender stories of the example Jesus set on how to treat others. There was a peaceful, sacred feeling as I listened to the author share his thoughts and feelings about Jesus.
