ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lee Goldberg is a two-time Edgar Award nominee whose TV writing and/or producing credits include "Hunter," "SeaQuest," "Diagnosis Murder," "Martial Law," "Monk" and "The Glades." His books include "The Walk," "Man with the Iron-On Badge," "Successful Television Writing," and "The Dead Man" series of original mystery novels.
Lee Goldberg is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of over forty novels, including Malibu Burning, Calico, Lost Hills (the first novel in his acclaimed "Eve Ronin" series), 15 "Monk" mysteries, five "Fox & O'Hare" adventures (co-written with Janet Evanovich), and the new thriller Ashes Never Lie, the second in his "Sharpe & Walker" series.. He's written and/or produced many TV shows, including Diagnosis Murder, SeaQuest, and Monk and he co-created the Hallmark movie series Mystery 101.
In this last book of the series, Goldberg goes completely campy. A female assassin is killing all of Brett Macklin's loved ones, before killing him. Macklin hunts her down, killing people by the dozen.
A disappointing ending to this 4 book series. It almost feels like the author didn’t know what to do with all the characters or how to conclude the series so he kill most of them. Brett then just walked in to the sunset or in this case the fog. Huh!? As a thriller/suspense reader I’m use to the violence and action. This one was so over the top it took away for the story. So in the end Brett abandons his child? He accepts money from a guy who almost had his girlfriend killed? He says in the end “I’ve got a job to do.” What? Meaning he will continue to be a vigilante or did the female assassin didn’t die and he is after her. Not a satisfying conclusion but it is what it is. These were written in the 80s so cannot expect a different conclusion .
This final book in this series had waay too much death and destruction. I felt so bad for Mack who was losing any friend or family he loved. All was the result of the decision he made to take the law into his own hands. His father deserved justice but not through the method Mack chose.
Final volume in this short lived series is a real wild one. Almost everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at you from word one. Our vigilante hero has to go down to Mexico to identify a body of a friend. He's beaten up by someone and left for dead. Some more people in his life are killed brutally while he is left alone. There seems to be an awful coincidence happening to him.
Too unbelievable both in the primary story line and the side tales. Totally unnecessary descriptions of sexual encounters , with ridiculous abilities of the good guys to escape.
Comic book action, over the top violence, gratuitous sex. I was really wondering what was goin on here and couldn’t believe this was Lee Goldberg. Then I read the essay at the end of the book and my faith in him was restored!!
The original title of this volume of the Mr. Jury series was Killstorm and that sure is fitting because it's splitting at the seams with carnage. If anything these books will deter anyone from taking revenge on their loved one's killers knowing what it can lead to.
Time to put this one away for good. The series has been literally beaten to death.
Too much useless violence. Ridiculous plot. Story just doesn't make sense. Waste of time reading. I usually enjoy this author's writing. Not this time.
Wrapped up beautifully. Fast and easy read. The entire series was enjoyable. So often series end abruptly or just unsatisfying. Thankfully not this one.
I am kind of glad to be done with these. This series just got more violent as it went. The only reason I finished it was because I wanted to find out if Brett lived.
