Books about famous people, especially actors, just aren't my thing. I don't like the whole paparazzi thing and am not impressed by wealth and fame. I prefer reading about ordinary people.

That being said, I liked Carter the novel AND Carter the man. Carter is a self-admitted man-whore. He's bisexual but rarely hooks up with guys, since he's worried his career will tank if he's outed as bi.

All that changes when he is forced to return to Twilight Falls and meets Elijah, a pastry chef newly returned to his home town. Elijah knows his way around a kitchen and a man's body too.

This story isn't angst-free, but I liked that Carter didn't push Elijah away and finally came out on his own terms. Carter's young niece, Maisie, was pretty adorable too.

This book ends on a promising HEA. I'm looking forward to Hunter's story next!

Seductive, sweet, and downright salacious!

Carter is the sultry, heartwarming novel featuring the dedicated, talented, pastry chef Elijah and the hard-bodied, hunky, movie star Carter as they discover together a sense of purpose, passion, and fulfilment beyond their careers and the importance of family, friendship, and a place to call home.

The writing is provocative and light. The characters are devoted, supportive, and kind. And the plot unravels quickly into a tale full of sizzling chemistry, undeniable attraction, familial responsibilities, community, fame, tender moments, sexy times, and scrumptious treats.

Overall, Carter is a spicy, uplifting, sensuous tale by Salinger that’s another fantastic addition to the Twilight Falls series and a perfect example of why when it comes to writing racy banter and erotic M/M sex scenes she’s one of the best.

Thank you A.M. Salinger & Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

To me this book was about second chances, not with one another but about their lives in general...maybe next chapters is a better term to use.

We all experience new chapters in our lives whether it's a new job, finishing school, getting married, well you get the idea, and not all of them are easy sometimes we find road blocks or something trying to pull us back to where we use to be.

Carter's story was heartbreaking at times and I couldn't tell you who I loved more, Carter, Elijah, or Maisie.

3.5 stars. Enjoyable characters in an interesting setting. Nothing unexpected or unique but an enjoyable book all the same. Nice for reading when you look for something lighter. Just still irritated by Elijah's comment when Carter was discussing marrying him - that being bisexual Carter could still fall in love with a woman. Why is this relevant? At least there wasn't any bi erasure...

Loved it......all of it. The MCs were perfectly likable, Maisie was beyond adorable, I loved her. Maisie & Carter's relationship.....perfect!! Maisie & Elijah speaking French, I loved.
Complaint: that the guys trip to Elijah's bakery to "check him out" was interrupted, I really wanted to see that. And all that talk about Elijah's cupcakes made me feel like I gained a few extra pounds by the end of the book, lol.

4.25 Stars!

Carter is book 2 in the Twilight Falls series and it can be read as a standalone, although you'll probably want to read Alex (book 1) at some point and meet this yummy group of friends.

Carter is a big action movie star/playboy/closeted bi, who is suddenly thrown out of the loop when tragedy strikes and he's left as the sole guardian of his young niece, Maisie (who is totally adorbs). Carter jumps into his new role with both feet, trying to help Maisie with her grief at the death of her parents while keeping his own at bay and trying to adapt to their new situation, when Elijah, Carter's new neighbor and pastry chef extraordinaire rushes into their lives. Turns out Elijah is just what both Maisie and Carter need, and both men are insanely attracted to each other, however, the past has a way to sneak back into our lives when we least expect it.

Carter and Elijah were so likable and I just about melted every single time they interacted with Maisie, they just seemed to fit so well together. I loved that while Carter was the quintessential playboy before meeting Elijah, once he realized how different his feelings for the chef were from anything he'd ever experienced, he just gave into those feelings. It was a bit instalove, but the chemistry between Elijah and Carter was undeniable and they were so hot and well-suited together that it really wouldn't have worked otherwise.

There was some conflict with Barbara, an evil woman from Carter's past, which was satisfactorily resolved and with Nico, Elijah's ex, who turned out to be a whole lot nicer than I thought at first. I hope this wasn't the last we've seen of him.

I loved catching up with Izzy and the rest of the Terrible Seven, LOL, they're too much fun when they're all together, and can't wait to read Hunter's story.

Overall, a really good, fast-paced, sweet, hot romance with lovable characters and some conflict (I wouldn't even call it angst) to move the story along. Recommendable!

Někde v půlce knihy jsem zjistila, že pokud by někdo vtrhl do scény s hlavními postavami a nechal je explodovat, bylo by mi to úplně jedno. A nebylo to špatně vymyšlenou premisou, kdepak. Ugh.

I am an absolute sucker for small town romances with single dads, found family, and neighbours falling in love! And if said small town romance is also hot and sexy and involves a baker and a movie star, I’m all in!

Carter is the second book in the Twilight Falls series , and at its center, it is about doing things that you never thought you’d want to do, and, by doing them, creating a wonderful life you never thought would be possible.

Carter, who grew up in Twilight Falls, is a huge movie star who never thought he would be openly bisexual as well as a single parent to his niece and back in his home town. Elijah, dreaming of international baking fame, never thought he would own a bakery in a small town and fall in love with his famous neighbour and his niece.

I loved Carter and Elijah’s story and how much Maisie was part of their lives; seeing how happy she makes both Carter and Elijah was heart-warming. I also appreciated that the author never shied away from Carter and Maisie’s grief over the loss of his family and her parents, while also showing that love and laughter can still be found in times of grief.

I don’t like third act breakups due to miscommunication and thought that Nico’s return to Elijah’s life would for sure result in one, and I really appreciated that Elijah never once thought about going back to Nico and stood very firm despite Nico being an absolute asshole about trying to win him back. The way Carter handled the blackmailing producer and took back his power was great, and I loved that karma got her in the end.

The interactions with Elijah and the Terrible Seven were sweet, and I love how protective the guys all are of each other. Mrs. Finch and the town’s defense of the ‘’honorable men’’ was so cute and sweet to read!

Overall, it was a sweet, very sexy, hot romance that included all the things I’ve come to love about AM Salinger’s books.

As a movie star, Carter Wilson is used to adoration. Women fall at his feet. He is offered fantastic roles. None of that prepared him for losing his sister and brother-in-law, leaving him the guardian of his now orphaned niece. Maisie is struggling with all the changes in her life. So, Carter brings her to his home in Twilight Falls. Elijah Davis leaves his promising career in Paris to return home to fulfill a vow to his grandmother. The two meet one night over hot dogs and Elijah and Carter find so much to adore in the other. But one thing is for certain, nothing is easy. Elijah’s ex shows up wanting Elijah back while Carter finds himself having to fight dirty to keep his career, his man and his niece.

Carter turned out to be an incredible hero, taking on a young girl and working hard to help her adjust. The he meets Elijah and he knows he wants him in his life. He is bisexual but for his career had hidden that part of himself. Now he wants it all – his career, his niece and Elijah. Elijah wanted the same but he did have someone trying to undermine and get him back. So many obstacles to overcome but overcome they did with the help of each other. A beautiful love story from beginning to end, don’t miss Carter’s story.

This is the 2nd book of the Twilight Falls series, it can be read as a stand alone, but as always it is best enjoyed if you read book 1 (Alex), which is also really good. This series is about a tight knit group of friends so they pop up throughout the story.
This book focuses on Carter and his journey to his HEA with Elijah. And what a journey it was, made me cry, laugh, scream, get frustrated, smile with each sweet/tender moment, and then fan myself from all the heat...steamy!! Carter and Elijah encountered many road blocks on their way to their HEA, some their own doing (but not dragged out), others from spiteful people (was very happy how that was handled 😈). But they leaned on each other, learned to trust, and came out stronger and more in love after each battle. And Maisie was so cute (not an annoying kid that was just thrown in) but adding humor and more charm to the story, along with the other secondary characters (the tight group of friends).
Now I'm off to read the next book, Hunter. I can't get enough of this small town world of Twilight Falls

Carter is a successful movie actor and he does not do relationships. He is careful, given an earlier entanglement that stung, about who he sleeps with and when but he is honest that it is going nowhere. Until he is called and informed that his sister and her husband are dead and he is given custody of Maisie, his 6 year old niece. He makes a commitment to her care and they are going through a rough transition because of her grief until Elijah literally storms into their lives concerned that he hears crying and wanting to make sure things are alright. He winds up cooking for Carter and Maisie and slowly but steadily becomes a fixture in their lives. Elijah and Maisie gave Carter a reason to commit to love and family and although some bad actors try to interfere the three of them are there for one another and they form a strong, supportive and loving family unit. This love story is bigger than the couple and that made it touching.

🙊Just the right mix of soulful and steamy👨‍👨‍👧

4.5🌟stars
This was a pretty simple, forthright tale of a confident out gay guy and the closeted bisexual celebrity he falls for. It definitely did not hurt that their story included a young orphan who needs fostering and affection. The plot tropes drew me initially and then I fell for the three main characters and their supportive sidekicks. Just a good-feel romance with a fair supply of cute connection with young Maisie and heated clinches for couple Carter and Elijah.

I also love a small-town setting and the way the community steps up to back this couple is touching.
And, yes, there are some villains that stir discord. Too bad they underestimate who they're dealing with!

Do I like the writing style and want to read more by the author? Yes. I've already got another book in this series downloaded and rarin' to go.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This is a really good book. I was captured from the very first page and if I didn’t have to work I would of finished it in one sitting!

Elijah and Carter are just fabulous characters. I adored them both and really wished the story was longer.

How they first meet is just brilliant and the story just flows from there. Elijah is just a delight, Carter is finally in a place where he’s realised he wants more than the flings of his past. Maisie is super cute.

I loved their chemistry and the heat was another level. I loved how Elijah took to Maisie immediately. I liked the theme throughout and was refreshing to have a male lead who’s absolutely sure what he wants and gets it without too much personal drama within the relationship. Carter took no prisoners once he’d made his decision and his love for his new family shone through.

This has definitely become a favourite of mine and the rest of the series id gonna need to work hard to beat this couple.

SECOND CHANCE LOVE!

This is the second book of the series Twilight Falls and I am absolutely hooked on these terrible sevens!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Carter’s character as he was portrayed as a player in the beginning but I carried on reading to see if he will redeem himself in my eyes and he did when it came to his niece Maisey and his neighbour Elijah!

Their meet cute was funny and endearing, their friendship sweet until they couldn’t keep their hands to themselves and then Carter did the unthinkable and took it slow so they got to know each other first- so out of his comfort but so endearing!

The way they bonded with each other and Carters niece and when exes and paparazzi tried to get in the way of their happiness they persevered…

These characters will crawl into your heart so you better make space!

I look forward to Hunter next!

This is the second book in the Twilight Falls series. I recommend reading them in order. Carter is a famous movie star, but he is living in the closet. Elijah is a pastry chef with a new bakery in Twilight Falls. When Carter takes on the responsibility of his niece after his sister’s passing, he comes back home to raise her out of the spotlight. Still grieving, little Maisie keeps Elijah awake several nights and finally he confronts this family, thinking she was in danger. Soon Maisie worms her way into his heart and Carter is soon to follow.

I loved this book. Carter was so clueless on how to raise his niece, but he was trying his best. It was awesome how Elijah was able to speak to her in French, which helped them bond. Elijah and Carter made such a sweet couple and they had amazing chemistry. This book was well written and the characters were endearing and memorable.

Terrible Seven, ride again! Carter, a famous international actor kept his bisexuality a closely guarded secret. He hasn't found his forever person who would hold his attention or his heart long enough to settle. The idea lives in the back of his mind though. Elijah, well known Michelin rated pastry chef, returns to Twilight Falls, to fulfill a dream/request from a beloved relative. Their first meeting was the result of a great misunderstanding, but it made an impression. Carter, suffers a loss and gains his beloved petite bonne fille, Maisie. Elijah bonds with Maisie because he speaks and understands French, her primary language. Will Carter publicly embrace his bisexuality? Will it tank his career? Will Elijah risk his heart on Carter? Will Maisie get a handle on her grief? Good story. Romantic, heartwarming and sexy. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My second trip to Twilight Falls was as enjoyable as my first. I love this little town and its residents. I met Carter and several side characters in the first book, but I was thrilled to meet Elijah. He is utterly charming.

Despite Carter doing something near the beginning of this book that disappointed me, I really enjoyed this book. It just had so much that satisfied my reading appetite. I love when exes pop up. I love great characters, and Twilight Falls is full of them. I love romance and spice. Also, kids just enhance stories for me, and Maisie was adorable.

Another thing I love about a series like this is getting to visit with characters that I’ve already come to know and love, and see how their relationships are continuing to develop.

Carter Wilson, Hollywood heartthrob, and Elijah Davis, pastry chef extraordinaire, have no idea the other exists and their first meeting is unexpectedly violent. Once Elijah sees how badly he has misread the situation and apologizes profusely, they begin to build a relationship based on mutual attraction and genuine respect. They become friends, then lovers, before things seem to spiral downward for each of them with someone from their past making mischief and causing trouble for them both. Thankfully, despite their adversaries' best efforts, Carter and Elijah win the day and get to keep each other. I really liked both men and find this story to be quite a delight.

This is the second book in the Twilight Falls series and I am becoming hooked on this author. Her writing is so easy to read and with lots of heat.
Carter is one of the Terrible Seven and when he needs a place to settle and calm his niece, Maisie, he comes home to Twilight Falls. He finds himself living across the road from a renowned chef from Paris. Elijah returned to fulfill a vow he had made to his grandmother. These two scorch the sheets and steam up the showers.
Thoroughly enjoyable read.

Carter is the second Twilight Falls installment and I was not disappointed. Although fictional characters I like Carter and Elijah as people. They were well written with depth to their personalities. I could relate to Carter with the acceptance of an integral part of himself. Elijah as well, with standing his ground on certain issues. Their story was a satisfying read with no plot holes, as sometimes stories of this nature leave the reader with unanswered questions and unresolved situations.

Told in dual POV, 1st person, it’s the second installment in the "Twilight Falls" series and can be read as a standalone novella. It was a time when I would really enjoy Salinger’s books, not that this was bad, no, not at all but it fell flat. I liked both MCs enough to finish the story but I wish it was more angsty and there was a bit more of drama. It was light and an easy read. Still I will continue with the series. Overall, it was an OK read and hope you enjoy it more than me!

Sweet, sexy love

Carter was a Hollywood A-Lister. Elijah was a world renown French Pastry Chef. They met and fell in love over a crying 4year old and a punch in the face. Aah! True love.
Bring in an old lover from France who thought he could sweep Elijah back off his feet and a vindictive director and you have your angst.
I liked this book because this small town had it all and the love and charm of that 4 year old and long time friends brought it all in to perspective.

I adored Carter & Ethan! Their first meeting was hilarious. Seeing them work together to help Maisie was so cute. Carter dropping everything for a niece he never saw in person was exactly how family should be. Ethan automatically stepping up to help his neighbor is what we hope to see in real life.
While both men have terrible exs, that don't let them get in the way of their budding romance.
Definitely read if you love movie stars, bakers, adorable kids and great hometowns.

Both Carter and Elijah have returned to Twilight Falls after life dealt them a stunning blow and this story of their changing lifestyles and developing relationship made for a great read. Carter's neice Maisie is the catalyst for much that happens in the story and she's a wonderful character in her own right. Some nasty side characters make for interesting drama along the way to the HEA for these two.

The movie star and the baker find love while both try to deal with major life changes. Carter inherits his niece when his sister is killed while Elijah moves back to the US when his romance ends. Another building relationship within the backdrop of Twilight Falls as Carter finds his footing back home and with being a Dad while falling in love and reconnecting with his friends. Another enjoyable addition to this series.

We met Carter in the 1st book, the big movie star, and now get his story. Carter and Elijah, a world famous pastry chef meet in a comical way, involving a punch! Things are soon sorted and the love between the pair feels quick but genuine. They are great together, so supportive of each other and little Masie, who is the sweetest! It’s a great read, plenty of drama and a decent villain! We have glimpses of the rest of the friend group and I’m looking forward to reading more.
