"Cynthia Conde is the host of VH1's Bridal Bootcamp and founder of the Bridal Bootcamp® fitness program. Conde has worked with thousands of brides to help them fit into their dream wedding dresses.
Conde developed her Bridal Bootcamp program in 2001, after taking on a client who needed to lose 100 pounds in seven months for her wedding day. To meet the deadline, Conde drew inspiration from her older brother, who'd lost 30 pounds via grueling drills in the Marines. And so Bridal Bootcamp was born, with a focus on hardcore, military-style training to help women get fit in time for their wedding.
The tremendous success and popularity of her best-selling book, Bridal Bootcamp, has created a niche in the billion-dollar fitness industry, prompting trainers and gyms across the country to create "wedding boot camps" catering to the fitness-conscious bride."
Although the premise is cheesy, I bought this book when I was preparing for my own wedding. The meal plans are easy to follow and there is a photograph for every single exercise- which really helped me. I lost 23 pounds by following this program.
I purchased this book 7 years ago, read it, and never did anything with it. Fast forward to present. I recently found the book and thought I'd have a look.
Armed with more knowledge about fitness, I have to say this is actually a great book for beginners. It shows you how to calculate macros and gives photo examples of each exercise. The workout program is actually something I would do today, but I feel like it should put more emphasis on how much weight you should be lifting, and how each bride can determine that.
The book is definitely cheesy, but I was pretty cheesy when I was planning my wedding, sooo I can't say anything about that.
The book is a good start for beginners who are looking for a steady, healthy, and sustainable way to lose weight before the big day, complete with all of that wedding cheese some brides, like myself, are predisposed to!!
This was really a good book for a niche demographic. If you are a bride and you want to do exercises specific to looking good in your dress, then this is the book for you. The right amount of photos and descriptions to tell you what you need to do.
Pre-reading thoughts: I feel that this is problematic in the fact that it's like you need to workout for getting married instead of health, but we will see if this is relevant to my interests.
