"This book is dedicated to all those fugitives from my country who have fallen victims to the Carelian swamps, to the bullets of the frontier guards or to the tortures of the Ogpu; to all those unknown thousands of Russians, who on the first or last stage of their flight from the Bolshevik Terror, have found an unknown grave."
This edition translated by Violet M. MacDonald.
Please note that the author's last name is written as "Unishevsky" in the translated version, but the correct spelling is "Unischewski."
Vladimir Unishevsky ( Unischewski) was a soviet airman who stole a plane to escape Russia during Stalin's reign. He died a few years later in a plane crash while fighting in World War Two.
Interesting publication concluding in an exhilarating story of escape and flight of the author and a friend to Estonia. A very strong indictment of the Soviet regime.
