The Madonna, mother of Satan has been resurrected and is tearing two cousins' lives apart. In the nineteenth century, six men were brave enough to kill the Madonna for her satanic deeds. Fast forward to the 1980s and she is brought back by a cult, which unbeknownst to the two cousins, they are associated with.

It also just happens that the male, female cousins are descendants of one of the six men who slayed Madonna way back when. So, you can guess what she wants in the long run.

A very well done horror, thriller novel that kept me wanting to know more. It unravels nicely. Lots of unexpected mayhem and twists that have you saying, "wow, didn't see that one." I've read two books now by the two authors and loved both. On the lookout for more.

"She is called Madonna. Her beauty has enchanted mankind through the centuries - for nearly 2000 years. There is every reason to believe that Madonna is, in fact, the mother of Satan himself."

Thanks to the FB group Retro Horror Paperback Art, I learned of this book. This amazing cover drew me in, and amazingly I scored a used copy off Amazon for an affordable price. I'm so glad I did because this was a great classic horror read!

Annie and Richard lead a normal life in NYC- Richard as a teacher for a blind theater school and Annie in a used bookstore. Annie discovers an ancient medallion in the drawer of her mysterious employer's desk depicting a seductive temptress, piquing Annie's curiosity. Meanwhile, Richard notices an enticing new neighbor across the apartment terrace that awakens something dark and lustful in his soul. The Woman has arrived in NYC, and she's out for blood and humanity! As Richard's obsession with The Woman grows, his madness deepens. Richard's family becomes frightened, seeking the counsel of their Catholic cousin, Father Jimmy, who begins uncovering an ominous secret not unknown to the Church. All mankind will pay for its sins against Madonna!

I have really been enjoying the Paperbacks From Hell series thanks to Valancourt Books and Grady Hendrix revitalization of horror book titles, and I really think this one ought to join the ranks. 2024 has been the year of classic horror for me, and I really enjoyed the hell out of this one. It's not award-winning writing by any means, but it captures the essence of everything I've read about the Satanic Panic of the 80s (this book was published in 1985). It's got some gory kills, cult sacrifices, sex, and demonic possession, and it blends it in a pretty seamless way. I've already been hunting more by these authors, and hopefully can find them for decent prices!

One of the first horror novels I ever read, and to this day still one of my favorites. Well written, perversely sexy, but most importantly truly scary! The kind of scary that you won't want to turn the lights out at night. It's THAT good!

Creepy book that builds on the good/evil theme of the 1970s and 80s. Well put together and worth a read if you can find it.
