I just like Fred and Ted. No surprise that these new ones aren't as good as the original, but they are still fun. The words are simple, the pictures are descriptive, and that helps the beginning reader. There are also clever examples of various types of opposites or things that could be either one way or another.

Fred and Ted have pilot's licenses and have bought airplanes. They take a trip to a tiny island.
My 2-year-old daughter likes it as much as the other Fred and Ted books.
You can a new copy of The Big Purple Book of Beginner Books with the original, a different sequel, and 4 more books for less than a used copy of this. It just coasts on the creativity of the original. Check out from the library or skip if not there.

This story is about two friends, named Fred and Ted. Fred was tall, Ted was small, seem to be the opposite of each other in all they do. They were going on a trip. Both jumped into their planes and took off. Came to a landing on an Island. Sat on the beach, made sand castles, swam in the water, until the tide was coming in and then it was time to fly home.

A good book for early readers—my daughter always enjoys the Fred & Ted stories. The color coordination for each character across the books is helpful, though the plot can be a bit nonsensical in places.

For some reason Fred and Ted are my 22-month-old's favorite P.D. Eastman books. Pretty typical for Fred and ted. Great for learning the differences between things.

A great sequel to Big Dog . . . Little Dog and a very good early reader. We enjoyed the sneaky references to P.D. Eastman beloved books. Actually, it was my four year old who caught those. A few pages in, he recognized the little bird from Are You My Mother? (a particular favorite of his), and shortly thereafter he said "but that's Otto!" "Who's Otto?", I asked him. "It's Otto from A Fish Out of Water, mommy!" I simply hadn't realized that P.D. Eastman actually illustrated Helen Palmer Geisel's book, but now I know!

A great introduction to opposites for young children.
This is the story of two friends who are off flying in their aeroplanes, and the fun they have. They often do things in opposites (one is small, one is tall; one likes red, one likes green; one flies upside down, the other rightside up etc)

The illustrations are cute and friendly, the characters are happy and a little bird seems to follow them around, which can make a great 'spot it' activity when reading with your kids.

This is a simple book for beginning readers. The colorful, cartoonish illustrations, big font and lots of opposites will likely make this book a hit with the preschooler set.

It's a bit too babyish for our girls, so I read it on my own, but I was delighted to find an ebook version of it available through my local library system.

Dad said there's no way this book can have four stars since the story isn't very good. Mom said I can give it however many stars I want. I like how Fred and Ted are friends and do things together, but they're different from each other and put their own different twists on all the things they do together. Mom says that's called contrasts and that I'm keen for noticing them.

This is an alright story. I appreciate the novel way that Mr. Eastman presents simple concepts and comparisons. My kids had always been too young to grasp any of it so this book never left the shelf; but now I think it's time to revisit it. Plus, Fred and Ted are pilots in the story, flying around like golden sun gods. Who doesn't like a story about pilots? Commies, maybe.

One son said this is his favorite book in the whole world and bought it for his cousins for Christmas.

It is a cute book with colorful pictures, easy words and nice rhymes. It works equally well as a read-aloud or an early reader.

Really, anything by P.D. Eastman is great.

Another fun entry in the Fred and Ted series. These books are adorable and provide lots of beginning words for new readers while the illustrations always offer more opportunities to expand. Fred and Ted make learning to read, identifying colors and concepts and rhyming a whole lot of fun! :)
