This was far more dramatic and compelling than I expected. The author makes our lead a passionate and hardworking character, while also being realistic about how not everything is as glamorous as it seems.

Y'all. You know I'm a sucker for idol romances, right? Well, you do now. Always have been. And this one is a K-POP idol romance? Yes, please! SIGN. ME. UP!

I will admit I was (still am?) giving Ryoc the side eye because he was very much a jerk for a good chunk of this volume. You know that guy on TikTok who runs around with the red flag? That's what I was imagining happening because was HORRIBLE.

But after continuing on with the story, I don't think he's an actual horrible person. Yes, he's done some things that he definitely shouldn't have, and I don't think that Maha should forgive him that easily. But I think that a lot of his problems stem from not fully understanding other people, and knowing how to handle his emotions. We're also left with some tidbits of information that I'm sure will be explored more in the next few volumes. I think that also has to do with why Ryoc acts the way he does.

I feel so bad for Maha, and the way she's been/is being treated by people. She doesn't get the chance to be herself because everyone wants her to keep imitating someone else.

I loved the inclusion of the variety game/competition show in this volume. That's one of the types idol media I like to watch when my favorite idols are competing.

I'm hoping that the girls of Tea Party remain good friends, and there isn't some kind of betrayal (I will cry)

I cannot WAIT to get my hands on the next volume, because THAT ENDING!

Sudah sejak lama aku ingin membaca komik terbitan Haru, karena sampai sekarang aku belum sempat membaca komik Cat& Dog series yang terbit tahun lalu. Sejujurnya aku ini adalah pecinta webtoon. Maka dari itu, aku penasaran bagaimana sensasi membaca webtoon seperti halnya membaca buku. Wow! Ternyata sangat menyenangkan hehe, visual dan ceritanya jadi lebih hidup. Terimakasih untuk penerbit Haru yang telah memberikanku kesempatan untuk mereview komik Imitation Volume 01 karya Park Kyung Ran ini.

Ketika membaca sinopsis pada bagian belakang komik ini, aku sudah bisa menebak bahwa komik ini akan menceritakan tentang lika-liku kehidupan idol korea. Karena aku juga merupakan seorang kpopers jadi aku juga penasaran seperti apa kehidupan idol itu. Nyatanya kehidupan idol berbeda loh dengan apa yang kita lihat di depan kamera XD

Awalnya aku sangat suka sama karakter Gwon Ryoc karena memiliki wajah yang menurutku sangatlah tampan, apapun yang ia lakukan selalu terlihat tampan hehe. Namun sifatnya yang sangat dingin pada Ma Ha membuat aku terkadang ikut jengkel padanya. Akan tetapi, mereka berdua menurutku sangatlah cocok satu sama lain karena dibalik sifat keras kepala dan dinginnya Gwon Ryoc, ada Ma Ha yang lembut dan tidak mudah menyerah. Hal ini membut komik ini semakin seru.

Pada buku pertama komik ini, karakter diperkenalkan dengan sangat baik dan ketika membuka halaman per halaman seperti enggan untuk berhenti karena ceritanya yang memang membuat penasaran. Konflik dalam komik ini adalah khas cinta anak remaja yang berliku-liku. Namun, pada serial komik Imitation Voluime 01 ini belum menjelaskan terlalu banyak. Membuat aku penasaran bagaimana hubungan para karakter kedepannya. Terlebih hubungan antara Ma Ha dan Gwon Ryoc. Semoga penerbit Haru segera menerbitkan kelanjutan kisah Imitation ini hehehe.

Komik ini sangat aku rekomendasikan kepada para pembaca yang ingin mengetahui kehidupan percintaan para idol terutama para kpopers :D. Komik ini nggak akan membuatmu bosan deh karena tingkah karakternya yang kocak. 5/5 untuk kisah Lee Ma Ha dan si misterius Gwon Ryoc.

DNF.

TW for (sexual) assault. The female MC shoots a scene for a TV show with the "scary", mean male MC, but nobody tells her that the male MC was instructed to go off script by the director by touching her without her consent. The guy almost ends up assaulting her. It's ... not a nice scene and it made me want to stop reading. The male MC spends the rest of the book being a dick to the female MC for no obvious reason.

I'm not familiar with the other volumes in this comic series, but I've read enough comics that the female MC and the male MC who tried to strangle her will probably end up getting together romantically. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find women getting together with their abusers very romantic.

Give this a miss.

K-toon kedua yang saya baca. Dan well lagi dan lagi saya nggak dibuat kapok membaca sebuah komik. Seperti yang sudah pernah saya tuliskan di post'an sebelumnya bahwa saya bukanlah tipe pembaca yang senang membaca komik, entah mengapa saya lebih prefer membaca sebuah novel yang hanya dipenuhi oleh kata-kata tanpa ada gambar sedikit pun. Itu lebih baik bagi saya.

Awalnya saya merasa bosan membaca Imitation, entah karena sebelumnya saya sudah melihat betapa tebalnya untuk ukuran sebuah komik. Sempat terpikir saya akan menuliskan review yang bagaimana kalau saya sendiri sangat tidak menikmati proses membacanya. Tapi hal tersebut tidak berlangsung lama, sebelum mencapai pertengahan cerita saya dibuat kagum oleh sosok Lee Ma Ha.

Lee Ma Ha menunjukkan kepada pembaca bagaimana sosoknya yang sangat profesional ditengah situasi yang menimpanya. Ma Ha juga menunjukkan keberaniannya menghadapi Ryoc dan tuduhan lainnya yang mengatakan ia seorang peniru.

Satu lagi sosok yang membuat saya terkagum-kagum dan yang tak lain adalah teman satu group Ma Ha, - Hyun Ji. Keikhlasannya benar-benar membuat saya jatuh hati.

Komik Imitation memberikan gambaran mengenai kehidupan para idol di Korea seperti apa. Tapi nggak melulu tentang kehidupan para idol yang ternyata banyak dramanya, tetap ada bumbu-bumbu manis yang menghiasi setiap adegan, setiap halaman dipenuhi dengan gambar yang lucunya sangat menggemaskan. Saya sendiri sangat suka dengan pengggambaran tokoh Ma Ha. Sosoknya sangat manis dan lugu.
Imitaton sendiri adalah komik series, yang artinya masih memiliki buku lainnya yang akan segera diterbitkan oleh Penerbit Haru, total keseluruhan ada 4 buku. Which is buku pertamanya sudah saya baca dan berhasil membuat saya geregetan dengan endingnya, karena di akhir cerita hubungan Ma Ha dan Ryoc sudah mulai "agak" membaik. Nah loh, kok bisa?

Untuk penikmat drama Korea, fandom dan fans artis-artis Korea mungkin kalian akan dapat menikmati komik ini ketimbang aku.

Personally, Biasa aja sih ide ceritanya, tentang seorang gadis yang terkenal karena riasan, gaya dan penampilannya mirip dengan artis wanita papan atas di Korea. Hal ini memicu kecemburuan dan drama percintaan.

Aku sebelumnya sudah pernah baca Cat and Dog yang notabene nya juga mengangkat kisah dunia hiburan Korea. Dan aku kurang bisa menikmati drama urban Korea saat ini terlebih sudah dalam wujud komik pun aku belum bisa menerimanya. Namun untuk contemporary romance atau yang berkisah tentang keluarga, atau romance dewasa aku masih suka. Tapi untuk komik ini aku rasa tidak.

Untuk grafisnya aku salut dengan hasil cetak penerbit Haru, hasil warna bagus dan full page. Nggak ada panel atau garis tepi, hanya itu saja kekurangannya. Dan, ini selera sih, aku nggak terlalu suka teknik gambar komikusnya, just 'not my cup of tea'.

yeay.. selesai.., 1-4, menunggu yang kelima..
paling males sebenernya baca komik nggantung gini.., ak kira sampe jilid 4 trus kelar.., ternyata masih bersambung ke jilid 5 nya.. duh..

tapi g nyangka sih.., ak akhirnya membeli, membaca dan menamatkan 4 jilid dalam waktu hanya 1,5 hari weekend ditengah kesibukan di rumah uhuy.., yang dulu g t ertarik.., ternyata bukunya asik sih.. sebenernya mau kasih 4,5 bintang, tapi g ada dan kayanya worth untuk 4 bintang.., walaupun ak akan tetap menunggu jilid selanjutnya..

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect to from this series and am still on the fence on a whole, though the volume was enjoyable once I got into the story. Maha comes across as timid and earnest with big dreams hiding a lot of insecurities. Ryoc comes across as cutthroat and solid, not willing to take crap from anyone and well aware of the cutthroat industry he works in. It's a bit of a surprise then when the two go from clearly being at odds to Ryoc being the one desperately wanting her attention, putting him in competition with Sparkle. Sparkle seems to have debuted closer to when Tea Party (Maha's group) did and has a much friendly relationship with the group, especially with Maha. Maha herself often seems oblivious to the nuances and relationships around her, neatly putting her in the middle of more than one potential triangle. There's a lot of potential here, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Buatku yang jarang baca komik Korea, aku menemukan kesulitan untuk menikmati komik ini. Namun, banyak hal unik yang dapat didapat di komik ini, terutama tentang kehidupan idol (yang aku kurang cukup mengerti) apalagi pemikiran Ryoc yang cukup berkebalikan denganku.

Le monde de la K-Pop est un monde complètement inconnu pour moi. Je n’en écoute pas et je connais vraiment pas grand chose à ce monde. Mais en apprendre plus à travers une lecture, je ne dis pas non. Vous l’aurez compris, avec Imitation, nous allons suivre la vie d’une jeune fille dans ce monde que l’on sait impitoyable. J’ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à dévorer ce premier tome, j’ai vraiment adoré ma lecture et j’ai déjà très hâte de découvrir la suite de cette série!

Dans ce premier tome, avec son girls band Tea Party, Maha rêve d’entrer dans le monde des célébrités. Un univers impitoyable, et elle va vite le découvrir… Dès le début, elle est accusée sur les réseaux sociaux d’imiter, voire de plagier, les vedettes déjà consacrées. Gaffeuse, Maha voit malgré elle sa réputation s’assombrir. Mais n’est-ce pas tout de me?me le meilleur chemin vers le succès ? Un garçon, membre d’un boys band à succès, la côtoie et la prend pour une fille frivole qui est plus intéressée par la célébrité ? que par la côté artistique. Mais peu à peu, ils se rapprochent. Mais dans le monde impitoyable du show-business, ils doivent garder secrète leur relation pour ne pas faire fuir les fans…

J’ai passé un très bon moment en compagnie de ces différentes idols. Comme je le dis plus haut, le monde de la KPop c’est vraiment un monde inconnu pour moi, je n’y connais rien ou du moins juste quelques noms de groupe mais ça s’arrête là. J’ai trouvé ça vraiment intéressant même si l’histoire ne consiste pas à comment fonctionne le monde des idols, on a quand même un petit aperçu en suivant ces différents personnages. On sait que ce monde est un monde impitoyable. Rien n’est laissé au hasard, tout est calculé, il faut faire attention à ce que l’on dit ou fait et ça en permanence! J’ai beaucoup découvrir le personnage de Maha. Elle m’a plusieurs fois fait beaucoup de peine par contre, elle est tellement touchante, on a envie de lui faire un câlin pour la réconforter. Le personnage de Ryeok m’a beaucoup plu lui aussi. Il a tendance à se comporter un peu comme un con mais il ne semble pas le remarquer. La façon qu’il a eu, lors de sa rencontre avec Maha, de la rabrouer a vraiment perturbé cette dernière. Si bien que dès qu’elle le croise elle semble se pétrifier et prendre peur. Petit à petit, on voit Ryeok évoluer, il finit par croiser tellement de fois Maha qu’il prend conscience de certaines choses. Le voir évoluer comme ça ça fait vraiment plaisir, au moins ce n’est pas un homme sans coeur! J’ai très hâte de voir comment tout ça évoluer par la suite entre ces deux là!

Un premier tome bien prometteur qui nous plonge dans le monde des idols. J’ai adoré ma lecture et découvrir ce monde m’a beaucoup plu. Les personnages je les trouve hyper intéressants à suivre. J’adore les voir se découvrir, évoluer etc. J’ai passé un très bon moment et j’ai vraiment hâte de découvrir ce que la suite nous réserven, je sens que l’on ne va pas s’ennuyer une seule seconde en tout cas!

K-pop inspired romance webtoon. The K-pop elements are actually pretty interesting, in that the author focuses much more on the auxiliary parts of being an idol: variety shows, contests, acting, managing fan reaction. There's precious little music, at least in this volume. That was fine by me, because it's all these other things that make K-pop different. Like, there was no point in her career that Lady Gaga would have been expected to compete in a foot race against Taylor Swift. As a slice of life focusing on the Korean idol industry, super interesting.

The romance is distinctly not my thing, though. It starts with the obvious love interest being such a jerk to the main character that she literally trembles in fear when she sees him. Which doesn't work for me on multiple levels. First of all, it's one thing to forgive and be friendly with someone who's gone out of his way to terrorize you, but it's a huge red flag for a relationship. Second, is he interested in her because she's afraid of him? Is that what he finds attractive about her? It kind of feels like it is, which is super gross.

I really enjoyed this first volume of Imitation, and I very much hope Yen Press publishes the English translation of more of this series. It gives me sort of Skip Beat vibes, in how earnest and hard-working Maha is, and how Ryoc is sort of dismissive of her and what he sees as her "gimmick." There's even a bit of a love triangle! (Even if Maha totally doesn't realize it, haha.) Aside from the romantic plotlines, the dynamic of Maha's idol group, Tea Party, is also really interesting to see develop and change as they (and particularly Maha) get more and more recognition. I'm really looking forward to volume 2, and Maha doing her first REAL acting job!

Ngusung romantisme antar idol..

Yang satunya nggak peka, yang satunya galak banget kek singa. Garang. Tapi begitu si singa mengenal si tidak peka lebih dalam secara tidak sengaja, si garang sadar, bahwa si tidak peka ternyata menggemaskan juga.

Mampukah si tidak peka bertahan? Bukannya dia cuma bisa meniru gaya idol lain? Grupnya pun mendompleng acara reality show besar untuk lebih dikenal masyarakat.

Lalu kemudian, si tidak peka ternyata mempunyai suatu hal yang tidak disangka-sangka. Tapi lagi-lagi disana ada si singa! Si tidak peka selalu ketakutan tiap bertemu si singa. Owh~ kasihan sekali...

I am not quite sure what to think of this one.

I really like the plot and the characters. I am very intrigued and interested on what is going to happen to them as I found them very likeable and relatable, despite the fact that many of them are idols. I enjoy the kinda slice of life genre but in this case elevated to the kind of life the idols and film stars can lead in South Korea.
That being said, it is not going to keep me awake wandering how it is going to continue while they are writing it. But it was a very funny and engaging read.

On the other hand, I just did not like the art style. Like it started to grow on me, but it is definitely not my favourite and makes me struggle a bit while reading it. So i think I will give it a chance to volume 2 when it comes out and see how I feel.

Waktu baca di kakaopage, sempat nangis awal-awalnya. Karena sedih ceritanya? Entahlah, mungkin cuma karena aku nya yang cengeng, paling ga tahan liat orang masang tampang sedih gitu. Tapi waktu baca versi buku, ga sedih sih rasanya. Karena udah baca ulang kali ya?

Ceritanya juga klise ya. Cinta segitiga, si cewek sama badboy nya, pelakor juga ada:v Ga terlalu ngerti juga aku sama ceritanya, idol idol gitu.

Di volume pertama, fokusnya adalah menetapkan karakter, dinamika grup idol, dan realitas glamor yang sebenarnya tidak semulus tampaknya — penuh konflik internal, ekspektasi tinggi, dan konflik emosional antara kehidupan pribadi vs. publik.

⭐️5/5 Imitation, Vol. 1 merupakan awal yang solid untuk seri menggali dunia entertainment dengan fokus pada realitas idol & trainee.

Got about 1/3rd of the way through before dropping it. Wasn’t really loving any of the characters and then it went and pulled the “I’m going to traumatize an actress because it’ll be ~more authentic~ that way” bullshit.

I really liked the concept of this series. I love K-pop (and really all content), and loved how the focus was on the "behind the scenes" and auxiliary scheduled items. The art for me was a bit one dimensional and flat.

Nah, kali ini aku bakal menceritakan pendapat aku mengenai komik Imitation secara keseluruhan

Pertama, kalo kamu kpopers sejati wajib baca Imitation, karena apa? Secara gak langsung kita dibuat sadar bahwa kehidupan gemerlap kpop idol itu tidak seindah yang kita lihat diluar, makin menghargai kerja keras mereka yang kalo orang awam bilang "tukang joget joget doang".

Kedua, tingkah para tokohnya tuh bener bener gemesin, apalagi Hyuk yang sinisme nya entah kenapa bikin aku kepincut 😍

Ketiga, aku ingin berbicara mengenai layout. Kaget dong ketika buka bukunya. Buseng full color, kirain item putih. Kan makin duhai ini mata liatnya 😍. Tapi aku sedikit terganggu dengan opacity pada balloon, pemilihan balloon, font nya. Gatau ya ada beberapa balloon yang opacity nya terlalu kecil yang malah bikin tulisannya gak kelihatan :( terus ada beberapa balloon yang menurutku gak sesuai dengan penggambaran adegan. Ferus font nya juga (mungkin ini gara gara aku pake kacamata kali ya) itu terlalu rapet dan kecil jadi keliatan penuh, apalagi kalo ada bahasa yg harus pake penjelasan. Dan bagian akhir yang ada sticker love itu eumm 😂 boleh buka dikit kah? Wakakakak. Mungkin untuk selanjutnya bisa diperbaiki dan dipercantik lagi hehe

Tapi itu untuk layout, kalo untuk cerita aku sendiri suka banget, apalagi duh Ryoc yang diam diam... menghanyutkan 😍😍
