"Devil May Care" is the second book in the "The Devil's Luck" series and, compared to the first book, it took me a little longer to get into the storyline again. Maybe that's because the atmosphere feels a little different after Gorrin's passing, and Loch's heart is too bruised to have room for the snarky humor I loved so much in book one. Also: I really loved Gorrin and maybe I needed to heal a little alongside her... Gradually, while she heals, the old Loch pops up more and more and I felt closer to the characters again. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, it really fit with the plot development and Loch's personality, I just noticed I had to get used to it a little longer then I did with book one.
The storyline in itself is just as fascinating as book one. Loch has some new troubles to overcome, together with the Demon Lords that can't help but loving her quirky personality. I absolutely love this world building, the whole concept of the Chasm and the Plains, and how angels and demons aren't simply good or bad. Loch is such a wonderful and badass character; she's not extremely powerful per se, but there is something extremely admirable in someone holding onto such strong morals and doing everything in her power to adhere to them.
I truly loved this second book, and can't wait to see what will happen in book three. I was so happy at the ending of this book, and then devastated that the author dared to have it end like that...
