Yuri finds himself on his knees before a prince of legends.
Captured and delivered by a magical carriage drawn by demons horses to the steps of a floating castle, surrounded by vampires and seraphim, Yuri wonders if he’s stepped into a dream or a nightmare.
The Master offers Yuri the chance to bask in the depths of a hidden library, seeking out answers to the world’s end, avoiding the shadows stalking the halls and twisting the worlds, at only the cost of a blood bond.
Will the bond keep Yuri from finding Star, or awaken a deeper need inside?
Tags: Angels, demons, Lucifer, vampires, Dracula, and one unusual human chef! This is a why choose serial with mild enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, with angst and Yuri is a cinnamon roll character with need for affection surrounded by a bunch of warriors, princes, kings, and monsters drawn to seek out his gooey center.
I feel like we got some more explanations than the last book, but while some things got explained others were still left kind of blank or sped through. Again, the bones still are good, but being in that "wait, what?" feeling isn't all that pleasant, especially when it's over little details that would give clarity.
This is part 2 of a 5-part serial. [New installments every weeks]
This installment covers the first day or so of Yuri’s life as a bonded human (?) in The Master’s Moving Castle. Yuri is completely out of sorts. Theo spends some quite time with yuri, telling him a bit more about the fractures and how they affect the worlds He meets The Master’s petulant nephew, Lucien who, despite being half human himself, detests humans. (Self-loathing, much?)
Without spoiling specifics, Yuri’s day does not go well. Something is wrong with him physically, but no one can figure out the problem.
The Master determines the problem (or so he thinks), and does his best to quell Yuri’s uncontrollable needs, and even THAT doesn’t fix the problem. [Aggressive sexy time isn’t always the answer.] The Master resorts to extreme measures to get Yuri under control and... [to be continued]
Again the author’s use of terse sentence structure adds to the unease that Yuri is feeling. I’m very curious as to what Yuri actually is. It’s clear he is not entirely human. The details and history of the fractures are interesting concepts, and I’m truly enjoying losing myself in this world as I read each installment.
This is such an intense series filled with so much pain and sorrow. Yuri meets the man of his dreams, Star, on the night the world changed due to a fracture, allowing monsters to come in. This is his story of survival and also his search for Star as his body changes and he discovers powers that horrify, powers that he struggles to control. He finds himself with Radu and his brother Vlad as well as his Vlad’s son, Lucien. It is Lucien from whom he draws strength and he begins to flourish but not for long.
This is a series of stories that are incredible and filled with so much violence and torture. Yuri had a life where he was constantly abused and blamed for so many things beyond his control. He finds himself changed or touched as they called it, making his new life not that much better. But Star comes to him in dreams and that is what helps him overcome. These will keep you up reading far into the night. Do not miss them as they are intense and easily addicting.
Can somebody p remind me why I started this serial?! I need more, luckily I don’t have to wait long because I am so torn on how to feel about Yuri. The events that transpired in this second installment were questionable to say the least, and Lucian already has a bad taste in my mouth. But, Theo was the absolute sweetest!!
In my opinion, Yuri was tricked into the bond. Master knew he wouldn’t cooperate otherwise, and I have fingers, toes, elbows and legs crossed that Star is able to save him. Either way, we did have some aggressive and dangerous events unfold, and we find out Yuri has something rather intriguing going on. Cannot wait for the next one!!
OMG. OMG. So so good. Yuri wakes up after being bonded to the Master, Radu. He had a dream about Star who told him to wait for him. As the castle starts to move, Theo comes and keeps him company as he is feeling the effects of this move. As they wait, Theo fills him in on the fractures that have taken place. Once it is over, Lucian, the masters nephew, comes in the room to take Yuri to the kitchen to eat. As Yuri was eating, it did not agree with him. As Lucian was taking Yuri to the library, he starts getting sick and passes out. The book ends on a cliffhanger after Radu tries to help Yuri curb his hunger. I really really want to know what Yuri is and why he is feeling the way he does. Cannot wait until the next comes out.
Edit: okay, I'm back. This was a fantastic, quick read. It picks up after the last episode and continues the story really well. Nice flow and all the details well woven together. This one in my opinion was a bit angsty, but still I enjoyed it very much. Don't want to say much more because spoilers, but I loved all the characters introduces (cough the Master is quickly winning my heart cough) I identified with the challenges and this new "phase" Yuri has to go through. Hang in there, you got this baby!! And if you're dealing with something that you don't know how to handle well, don't worry, you'll get through it too. ❤️
* I received an ARC for this episode and I'm voluntarirly leaving a review.
I loved Touched by the Morningstar: The Master and His Moving Castle. It's the second book in the series. The books are not standalone and do need to be read in order. OMG, so much happened in so short of time. Lucian has an I'm-better-than-humans attitude which is funny considering he is half human. So far, I don't like him very much. He put Yuri in danger when he took him to the dining hall. Only after eating did The Master and Lucian realize that Yuri couldn't stomach human food anymore. This leads to a scorching scene as The Master feeds Yuri like he would a Noble Onari, only it turns out that Yuri isn't an Onari either. I can't wait to read the next installment to continue figuring out what Yuri is. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Not going to lie, I'm rapidly becoming obsessed with this serial and Star in particular (I have theories about him). Yuri is in the castle and bound to his master. He's visited in a dream by Star and then is highly affected by the move the castle makes. It gets a bit wild from there. Having seen a teeny spoiler, I knew something was happening, but omg, that direction was wild. There's some steam in this one, and it ends in a pretty big cliffy. Thank goodness the rest aren't far off. Part 3 please
Yuri is now bound by blood to The Master but who knows what that will mean? His world is still changing as the castle shifts to another location and Yuri’s magic grows in an unexpected way. He struggles to cling to the memories of Star through everything that is happening to him. I am so loving this series and I can’t wait to see how this last development resolves. I am probably also a little in love with sweet Theo too. This is so good and definitely worth a read.
Dreams or memories of a time before the fracture destroyed Yuri's life. A phantom Star that he longs to see again. Now in the hands of a Master Radu. Has everything humanity been taught a lie? With one answer leading to more questions. Now Yuri maybe have been saved to to die all over again.A big thank you for another wonderful read about Yuri and his nightmare-ish of an adventure.
Yuri is awakening to a new world as property of the Master, but something is different about him, a hunger that burns inside, the shadows in the castle and the humans that want to touch him. He's also starting to think that Star isn't real. This one ends on a great hook to lead into book three, which I think will start to give answers as to what Yuri is meant for. Sexy, sweet with Theo and visceral.
I really liked this book. Like the first book, the author set the scene perfectly and you felt like you were there with Yuri. This one introduces a new character who is dark and dangerous but hot as all heck. I am very interested in what the author is going to do with Yuri and his love interest(s), it's so different from the usual and I'm here for it.
WOW!!! This serial is absolutely awesome!! Poor Yuri is going through some massive changes and it doesn't seem to be going very well for him. Now very eagerly awaiting the 3rd instalment to see if he can over come and sort out what is happening. Brilliant story!!
Not sure how to review without giving too much away! This one is a major cliffhanger though so I will just say I love Theo!! I am super interested in Star who Yuri is seeing in dreams as well. Love the castle setting and atmosphere! Dark and mysterious!
The second part in this new serial series by Kaeya Lee. This book continued where the last 'episode' left off. The world building in these short stories is really excellent! I'm really enjoying the works in which these stories are placed in, the characters are great as well. I'm so curious to learn what Yuri actually is, since he's not completely mortal... I'm looking forward to the next part in this series!
*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*
